I thought about picking up a Batwoman comic a few months ago just because it was super good cover art. I think she was perched on a ledge with a heavy rain coming down. Will wait until Harley makes an appearance though.

Spoiler:
That's what I was thinking. There's no way Doctor Octopus will stay being Spider-Man.
Well if it's a money grab, it's making me wonder about it... I'm heading down to the game store near my work, and I contemplated picked up the latest spiderman tonight...

It is just another stupid false-shocking crap storyline that in the end is a cynical money grab.
Though they've certainly stuck with the craptacular Mephisto Did It for a while now...
First of all you were also throwing out the "WTF Marvel" as if they've done something egregious here. Why is it cynical? It's just a storyline. Spider-Man is going to have to deal with some conflict and then overcome it. That's what he usually does. Marvel's job is to write stories that people may want to read and make money in the process.

It's this kind of thing that makes me not interested in comics.
I understand why they do things the way they do, but it makes me not
interested in following the storylines. Stuff happens that don't have
lasting changes? Ah well.
And they have to be careful. They have a movie fanbase who may or
may not be into the twists they put into different storylines.

Exactly. That's why I'm pretty unexcited about this. In the end I bet it will go down like an extended Chameleon story.
In fact, when it's all said and done I bet it will have less effect than when Ulitmate Chameleon tried to screw up Ultimate Spider-man's life. As least that one resulted in J. Jonah Jameson permanetly knowing Spider-Man's identity.

And then Peter died.

I really hate body switch/evil doppelganger stories, because they always play out the exact same way, with the villian in the heroes body framing himsef for a crime and alianating his friends, who should all really know better at this point.

That is clearly not the case here. Doctor Octopus isn't trying to frame Peter Parker, he's trying to kill Peter Parker. Framing Spider-Man for a crime would be stupid because Doctor Octopus has no intention of giving Peter Parker his body back - he'd only be framing himself.

Because villians who pull the 'ol switcheroo always plan to give the body back once they're done, right?

There ARE good examples of switcheroos. The one that

I've really been enjoying Batwoman, although Batgirl, Batman and Robin, Birds of Prey and Nightwing have been my fave four titles in all.
In general I've been really enjoying the DCNU, added a couple of titles to my pulls list since It began, Supergirl, Batman and Robin both from issue 10 (got all the back orders/graphic novel to cover the missing ones) and I've preordered Justice League of America and Katana.
Not really been able to pick out a marvel line at the mo, but I have been picking up the UK 'catch up' Spiderman series, which just finished Spider Island.
The Doc Ock thing seems odd, but I'd need to read it to make a judgement

I've got them all saved to read in one sitting.
Well behind with my reading, but got my annual leave to use up so have a nice long xmas break coming up to catch up.
Hell, as it's the time of year for miracles I might even glue and/or paint some minis too !

We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.
"the play's the thing wherein I'll catch the conscience of the king,
Read Amazing Spiderman 698, not too sold on that storyline, though it might be interesting to read once it's all said and done.
Wolverine Max #2, very meh series, not sure if I'll read the next three issues
All New X-Men #2, wtf Beast, wtf?! It's pretty good so far, I'm interested to see if the young x-men in the series are going to step into leadership roles, or if it's going to be the arc and then they go bye bye
Captain America #1 pretty good story, who knew that Cap was 90 years old.
Iron Man #2, Really looking forward to Tony take on this Camelot group, though he blew up extremis, so idk where the series will go from here lol
Read Avengers + X-Men 1 and 2 (had to pick up 1 to 2 more comics so I could get my frequent reader card stamped so my next trip is 10 dollars less ) I didn't realize they were short stories, I thought it was an overarching series... will probably not pick up any more lol.
Ultimate Comics: Spiderman, we get to see the battle against Hydra from a different view, and we get to see our little Miles Morales in action as he acts like a real soldier. This has quickly become my like favorite series. Also some interesting development on his Dad.
Uncanny Avengers #2 - Oh man, this is heating up . Rogue doing her thing sugah, Scarlet Witch, Captain America, Wolverine talking it out.
Anyone reading Uncanny X-Force? The only hero I recognize is Colossus and Cable...

What, even more than when Loeb started just killing everyone in Ultimatum
Those weren't exactly happy times either but I'd say yes. There worst(some think best) thing ever to happen to mutantkind has happened: there's a cure.
They've somehow managed to make Kitty Pryde the coolest X-Man and that's no mean feat.

That was my plan too but I was becoming concerned the giant pile of comics would crush me so gave in and started reading. Now I realize DC is actually very late on publishing most of the #4s. Damn you DC!
Automatically Appended Next Post: @Alfndrate: Ya what is Beast doing? Way to screw up the whole space-time continuum! I have a feeling something will happen that will erase the memories of the 60s X-Men before they get sent back.

I obviously need to look around Dakka more than just Infinity because I didn't know there was a comics thread.
I've been a comic fan for around 30 years now. I even used to work in the industry for a short lived comic magazine in the 90's called Hero Illustrated. I was the price guide editor for a time until they decided to ditch the price guide part. It was fun while it lasted.
When I was a kid I was into Marvel but then I got into DC and never looked back. Especially with my favorite comic the Legion of Super-Heroes. It is currently the ONLY comic I get. Along with Legion related titles like Legion Lost which is going to be cancelled in two more issues. I believe Legion was the first Teenage Super-Hero team starting back in 1958.
I'm still into other comics but I don't buy if I can. I get TPB from the library or wait for Christmas and Birthday.
I did however, at the Black Friday sale my local comics store had, get a bunch of the Batman Beyond Unlimited. It's based on the Batman Beyond cartoon but includes the future Superman and Justice League. So far it's really good. If I come into money I may start getting Thor too.
This is about half of the Legion team. It doesn't normally have Superman in it.
it was a pretty good mag. It was one of the few that showed what was then alternative comics to the main stream. Not as much as we wanted but oh well. I don't't count Image and Valiant as Indie back then.
I got to go to the San Diego con a few times with them. I almost got into a fight with a guy I shared a cab with who was from Wizard magazine. Wizard did NOT like competition. Hero couldn't compete with the already established Wizard anyway. I think they are still going too.
I purchased my first issue of Wizard the month after the last issue of Hero was released. Wizard was okay and I wish it was still around but only because I wish something like Wizard was still around. I especially loved the fanart that those mags printed. But how can a printed periodical compete with deviantART? Or the blogosphere? It's really too bad because I think that format offered something that the internet doesn't, although I don't quite know what it is as of posting this. I still get my G-Fan fanzine and it's a much better treat than Google search results.
It was definately that new fangled internet that killed the magazine star. Although I hadn't bought a Wizard for many years before its demise I did enjoy them when I was younger. As for what's missing I don't know but that magazine was often hilarious to read. It seemed like everyone was having fun making it. So perhaps its that intangible "personality" that's missing.
