That's from FutureWeapons, a Discovery Channel show that pimps out weapons being developed around the world. If it just showed stuff exploding in slow motion I'd love it, but they keep letting the host talk, and he's really annoying.

Only problem with massed rounds loaded and the option of different ammo types, how do you know which one you will need and then select it?

for the different rounds i spose that each drum would be colour coded like the shells.

The only problem with the AA-12? Well, besides being a quartermaster's nightmare, is that its a close quarters weapon which is nearly 3 feet long. Not gonna be making too many quick turns with that beast.

It may see some service in special deployments (SAS, SEALS, Post Office), but that's about it.

thing is, if they're showing us this, just imagine what kind of shotgun they're hiding and keeping secret...

AA-12 is already in limited use with troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and is also used by contractors there. It is a beautiful weapon and would love to have one the next I'm at checkpoint outside Balad or Bagram.

Chop off the stock and find a way to use those explosive shells from the OICW and you've got yourself a boltgun. This kind of stuff is why the host of Futureweapons seems like he's about to have a happy ending when he's talking about weapons.

It seems like a weapon which the military could have had designed if they wanted, Now that someone has saved them the trouble they will use it in small quantities for special situations.

So when do we see the cheaper and more mechanically reliable Russian version?

the only reason I don't like futureweapons: the host has the worst voice in the world for it. also the reason why i hate the military channel's "top tens." that guy is MUCH worse for that role though...

by the sound of it we need to create a club of deep hatred for the presenter of future weapons!

They have this. It isn't fully automatic, but that's really overkill with shotgun anyway.

HK GMG is better. And automatic shotguns aren't new. I just wish the Pancore Jackhammer hadn't been scrapped. That was a sexy gun.

An automatic grenade launcher that fires 40mm grenades. GMG is literal shorthand for Grenade Machine Gun. Though it isn't really man-portable, so that's a downside.

sounds nice!

the idea of an armour (or wall at least) piercing frag genage is devastating. you dont need to break down the door or through the wall to kill everyone inside, you just fire through it. its a scary prospect. the speed and easy with which you could incapacitate a room (maybe even an entire house) seems wonderful until you make a mistake and shoot into a room full of children.

appart from that automatic shotguns are in (limited) service with military organisations around the world already. its the genade shells that make it interesting.

This is the right answer to the wrong question.

The problem in urban warfare, especially as found in Iraq is not lack of firepower but lack of targets. With the bad guys intermixed with the civilian population and indistinguishable until they're actively shooting at you, firepower really isn't the issue.

So you fire 20 of those grenades into the window and yeah, get a badguy or two, plus the family he was using for cover. This isn't WWII, we don't flatten cities to get at the enemy anymore.

What's needed are non-lethal, incapacitating weapons.

But there is nothing more humiliating than an enforced Homo-Erotic dance...all grabbing each others hips....it has a modulator to add additional embarassment. Like the Birdie Dance Breakdown...not pleasent, but non-lethal. Until you shoot them in the face with another gun.
