A separate frame will be sold to add a deff rolla amongst other bits. Must be to keep the cost of the kit on its own down to promote sales.
Then hit you with the extra cost of the bit you will want.

Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere, I couldn't see it.

Good find!

"Direct" only sucks, though I suppose it is 'clever' on their part...

GW do this for one specific reason. If I want a battlewagon, I'll buy it from Ebay with a 20% discount on GW store price. But if I want the Battlewagon with a Death Roller (which every Ork player will want) you have to order your Battlewagon from GW, and thus pay full price for it.

A bit of everything really....... Titanicus, Bolt Action, Cruel Seas, Black Seas, Blood Red Skies, Kingdom Death, Relic Knights, DUST Tactics, Zombicide the lit goes on.............

Depending on how much "general purpose" bitz the sprue has, it'll probably be a gift or a curse. If there's room enough for grot riggers and the like, I expect it will be popular to spruce up other Ork vehicles and conversions, too

The supply does not get to make the demands.

It does mention that only the 'frame' is direct sales doesn't it?

Maybe that's all we'll have to buy after getting our regularly discounted BattleWagon elsewhere?

It's an interesting idea.. provide a bulky material-intense option part as a direct-only special order item so as not to 'waste' providing those parts when they might not necessarily get used.

I wonder what the cost of the deffrolla sprue will be? I'd be ok if it was 15 dollars or less.. But somehow, I can't imagine them selling something that cheap.

A direct-only plastic sprue for a few upgrade bitz for one vehicle for a non-MEQ army? GW's new plastic tech must be even cheaper than they advertise.

It's a shame that GW overcharges international shipping so much that I'll never ever order anything direct.

I always thought that GW should have more general upgrade sprues like this. It allows them to make old models "new" again and charge more at the same time.

Tanks, we definitely need more tank.

I don't see the word plastic anywhere in there. It could be resin or even metal. What are the new chaos warrior weapons? They're metal right?

Frame suggests plastic, rather than using the word sprue which I agree is a bit ambiguous.

See what I really want from GW is a sprue of just Ork wheels and gubbins for modifying my own scratchbuilt trukks and wagons.

Toronto, Ontario, Canada, eh?

Since they're advertising it at having both the Kill Kannon and the Deff Rolla, then what I will likly be doing is buying my self a pair of Battle Wagons and then just One of the upgrade sprews.

Not actually that bad. I really suspect that the issue was a matter of size. the Deff Rolla is likly two large drum halfs which just wouldn't have fit in the box without it being much too cumbersom to put on a shelf. In the end, the decided that they would sell it ceperatly to those who wanted to buy it, and those won didn't would simply build it themselfs, of go without. Not everyone HAS to have a Deffrolla.

This is does put some perspective on the museings of my local Black Shirt who kept insisting I might be wrong when I said that the new battle wagon lacked a Deffrolla.

A general gubbinz sprue for each army would be nice.. But especially for the Orks, since they are such a group of horders.. I am sure, if the temperature was right and the general cry of these types of sprues was strong enough, we could convince GW to do them..

GW's deffrolla will look significantly better than 90% of hobbyist's conversions. No need to preach your cost-cutting dogma so loudly. Some of us have more money than time.

only the sprue is direct order. you can still buy your discounted battlewagon from ebay or whatever other discount source you might have. then call up GW and order just the upgrade sprue.

the kit was simply too big to fit all sprues in one box. so GW decided to split the kit. they take the 2 most popular(but not required) upgrades and sell them as a stand alone upgrade sprue. now the battlewagon box is normal size, and decent price. people who really want to can buy the upgrades, others can scratch build, and some will take the battlewagon as bare bones transport for lots of boyz.

this seems like a smart business decision, as well as decent fair option for us gamers.

This seems like a bad decision, which could have long term repercussions. "Want a demolisher? We've got a great new plastic sprue for that... available for $20 from direct only". Having items direct only makes them much harder to get, reduces the modeling options available in the already overpiced kit, and confuses those who only buy from their local store (problems people have had with Forgeworld tank variants). Would you like the vehicle accessory sprues to become direct only? Command sprues?

Not to be all doom and gloom here, but I would rather that each box be able to produce all options available to that vehicle or unit, than to have to buy something extra to make a standard upgrade or variant.

I agree. While I do think it's great that whole sprues are available to order and I do wish they had more of them available.. I think it would have been better to package this as 2 different vehicles like the landraider and the crusader/redeemer. I'm sure they save a bit this way on packaging, shelf space and all that stuff, but still. If they would at least allow stores to stock it too as an upgrade pack or at least special order it then that's not so bad. Maybe if enough people request it they'll do that.

maybe that sprue was late getting made and couldn't include it in the first shipment of the battle wagon. sometime next year the wagon will start coming with the sprue

Oh ye of little faith!

When was the last time I couldn't get anything GW sells. Just tell me how many deathrollers you want Tim, and I'll have them for you. GW stores can bitz order them for customers, as will all partnership level stores. Most other independent retailers can as well, if they talk to their sales rep or Sanchez in Direct.

And if you stop by this weekend, you'll see me putting together my spiffy new Battlewagon. I got in my monthly "Black Box" from GW today. Came with storm boyz and the battlewagon.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

Snagged this from BoLS:

Hi folks,

If there is something any Big Mek worth his weight loves, its "pimpin up" his battlewagon. Word is there is a GW direct only battlewagon accessory sprue soon to to be offered with the following parts:

-Deff-rolla
-Kill kannon
-Lots of Orky bitz

~No word on availability or pricing, but the Orky community will be spared the intolerable scavenging of toilet paper rolls, adding machine paper cores, and the like in their search for deff-rolla parts. Hooray! For us non-greenskins forced to endure even more deff-rolla armoured pushes...Boo!
