That is one damn fine looking battleship. You struck just the right note with the random cables, too. Makes a fine addition to the fleet!

Dat looks spectacular Gits! The white edging has an interesting effect beyond making it pop.

That has always been my favorite came scheme... even if it is really just for boats.

Having a re-match with Thing 1. I'm trying to do a video battle report but in all honest thing the file is going to be wayyy too big to be able to upload. Anyone know a good (free) video editing bit of software? Perhaps there's something in Windows. I don't need to do much... just cut out the bad sections really & maybe put in a title slide (that's optional).

In any case I thought I'd share a few cool pics. This is half way through turn 3 (he went first). We basically charged forward together and the necron assault troops and my kans are meeting full force in the center of the table.

In turn 2, I had both units of kans shoot at the 6-strong wraith squad. Unfortunately for my son, he rolled with his usual luck and I managed to take out the center of his line-abreast wraiths. I then charged one unit of kans into one end of the line, effectively isolating the combat on just the two wraiths on that end (as the others couldn't consolidate far enough to get into combat). The picture below is after two rounds of combat. I've lost one kan to his 4 wraiths (I'll take it). The C'tan shard also joined the combat but rolled abysmally, as I result I'm still in the battle! Go-go-gadget-grots!

In his half on turn 3, a fairly substantial unit of scarabs charged my other unit of kans with predictable results. I hate scarabs. I did manage to kill 3 of them but his dang spiders just keep replacing his losses (not to mention the reanimation protocol rolls from the canoptic detatchment).

He is winning it should be noted... thanks to maelstrom points (which we're using as our secondary). Given the cards I drew, I don't think I'll be catching up any time soon.

For video editing, you could use Blender- it's basically a catch-all media center, really. Though it's primarily used for 3d modeling and animation, there's a video and audio compositing system in it you could use. And it's free.

Or, if you're willing to go digging around the Old Internet a little, Windows DVD maker is free, basic software. It's not bundled with windows anymore, though, so you'd have to find it and download it yourself.

Thank you kind sirs.

Something a bit more humble. Managed to finish or clean up the basing on all of my dreads and kans. Not real exciting.

Have some decent action shots from the finish of tonight's game with Thing 1. I'll see if I can get them up tomorrow. Right now I'm very tired and longing for bed.

Welcome back Norn King. I'm really happy that you still found my blog work re-visiting. You happen to find me in the middle of an ork push for painting & modeling... so good timing on your part.

A few more shots from the epic battle between my orks and Thing 1's necrons. All of the real fun was taking place in the middle of the table where 8 kans and 2 dreads slammed into the necron assault elements. We join our valiant gretchin several turns after first contact on turn 2...

With his bretheren in flames, the last kan takes on the remnants of the necron wraiths.

Having dispatched the last of the killa kans, The Night Lord stalks across the plain looking for a new victim.

Amidst the carnage, two Ork Dreads take on the mighty C'tan shard... and eventually are victorious!

Wraiths slide effortlessly & silently through the wreckage of the ork vanguard.

Thing 1 ended up winning a decisive victory. 16 - 10 In spite of some early set-backs he stuck to his guns (literally) and in the end, massed fire from his warriors and immortals cleaned out most of the ork infantry which were my only hope to keep it close. The kans and dreads really held their own though... I was quite proud of them. *sniffle*

Game highlights from last night... taken from my phone so not the best quality I'm afraid.

My army, ready for battle.

My Warboss on a bike charges into some Death Company. They do really well until another squad of maries and a dreadnaught join the fray.

All my bomb squgs attack his dread on turn 1. They do nothing.

Game was effectively over in turn two, though we played his half of turn three just to be sure. Sanguinary guard with Dante' killed everything they touched.

Next project should start soon.

Thanks Cam. Really glad that you like the mega tank. It's awfully fun to play too.

Next project is finishing off my little unit of OOP mek gun lifta-droppas (now called smashas I believe). I am in need of two more of these OOP guns to finish off the units.

I need one of these...

...and one of these.

I have cash and a variety of things to trade (orks, SM, eldar). Don't really have a list of tradables... just tons of stuff, figures and bits. If there's something specific you're looking for, let me know.

I'm working all weekend but I'll try to make some progress in the in-betweens.

Nice action shots.

Can't help you with actual parts, as my collection is very thin when it comes to older models.

They don't look too difficult to scratch-build though, if they do prove too hard to find...

Could be an option (if expensive) as part of a kitbash for the models you're after. The wheels look almost identical.

The wheels on the Ork guns are way bigger. I think that Kromlech or one of these places sell wheels which are a very close match. I've got one Smasha gun, but I won't part with it (sorry!). They do pop up on ebay every now and then though. Would be your best bet in my opinion.

I really like the look of these battle reports. Good stuff.
