Subject: Forgeworld - do they ever deliver?

So, I ordered 25 renegades from forgeworld in september. Have yet to see them.
Is this normal?
The guy who did the actual order placing called them and they said "it was in the mail" or something.
That was 2 weeks ago.
I've read from various sources that forgeworld basically is a basement operation and I can only confirm this.
The really bad part is that we already payed for the stuff :(.
So, regular forgeworld consumers, should I worry about ever getting my models?

I have never had a problem ordering from Forgeworld.
I'm in the US. I get stuff faster ordering from their UK site than I do travelling the 40 minutes to the local Bunker and ordering it from there.
My wife got me an Ork Warboss for Christmas, and it was here in time for her to wrap it and put it under the tree.
I wouldn't worry about it.

I was waiting a good few months for my squiggoth.
Order went out October 17, Squiggoth arrived March 11.
So around 5 months. Some stuff arrived quicker, some stuff took even longer.

Generally anywhere form 5 days to 2 weeks for me when I was living in LA(the state). Now, I can just drive down to LA(the city) to get it.

Although Forgeworld are rather variable about deliveries, make sure to contact them and reconfirm the order.
These garage type of operations can just lose track of orders and make you wait months by mistake.
UK postal service law is they have to deliver in 28 days. Overseas deliveries should only account for a bit of extra transit time.

Huh! Maybe I should move to the states. I'm only in ireland and my waiting time is much longer!
I think a lot of it has to do with what's in stock. If they have to cast something for you it takes much longer.

Yeah, I think Forgeworld runs just like GW ran ten years ago. No computers for tracking and casting in cycles. If they make ten of something per cast and only have two orders for it, you end up waiting until they get around to it.
Definitely call. Nothing used to fix problems except for calling the mail order trolls.

Am I the only one that feels this is totally unacceptable?
I mean, if your problem is that you have to many orders to fill then you have what I would call a "luxury problem" for a business.
Solution:
Hire more people - can't be that hard to train them to do some casting/email-answering.

I was pretty wound up about it, I called them once about it.
I was busy at the time though and my upbringing means I hate making a fuss.
5 months was a pretty long time to wait though.

Kilkrazy wrote:UK postal service law is they have to deliver in 28 days. Which FW will do 100% of the time. They have no issue shipping things to you quickly. Their biggest problem is actually shipping the item. Once it's out the door they get here very quickly, but getting it out the door is the hard part. Perfect example is the order I made that took them 2-3 months to get to me. The actual shipping was 2 days (I was an idiot and paid £40 for express shipping actually expecting it to arrive in a week), it just took them a few months to get to my order. So, technically speaking, they did express ship it. It did arrive within a couple of days of them shipping it, they just were a little slow on the actual shipping part. So that's the problem to be aware of when it comes to ordering from Forge World (other than their 50% miscast rate and appalling customer service). When they ship it to you, it will arrive as quickly as any other shipped item, they just take years to get around to actually shipping the item. To compound this issue, they are hopelessly inconsistent. As I mentioned, my order for two Macharius' took a couple of months. My order for a Deathguard Marine conversion set, a pair Deathguard Termy conversion sets and a trio of Chaos Dreads arrived in a little over a week of me making the order. Then a friend of mine orders Zuphor a month ago and he's still waiting for it. I wish they were like GWUS Mail Order, who's service excellence is second only to Maelstrom Games UK. I've had orders from the US to Australia arrive in 2 days flat from the day I ordered it. They're fast, accurate (and when they're not they correct their mistakes unlike FW who tell you that they ' owe [you] nothing') and cheaper than buying it from my local GW (or were, the credit crunch is kinda killing that). What I meant is UK postal sales law is that the item has to be shipped and arrive within 28 days. That's within mainland UK of course.

Well FW has made it abundantly clear that that law has no effect on international sales...

Forgeworld delivers on time in my experience, the small problem being that their estimated time to arrival is a month or more.
I ordered 3 Venerable Dreadnoughts Mk IV on September 14th, and they got it to me by October 12th. Slow? Yes, but at least I got it.
