I'm guessing most of you dont bother with the GW stores.

Do you go for ebay or some kind of other online store?

Local supplier, keep him going, even if the outlay is slightly more than I if I bought online. Buying online doesn't have the same thrill as buying a kit in a shop and driving home and having a gander straight away.

I get some stuff online, if it's OOP, unusual or just not available in the local shop.

And wargames shows, good way to get all kinds of things cheap, particularly bring and buys. It's always luck of the draw with them but i've had some very good stuff over the years.

Local store since I play there.

I'd buy more at the GW if I game there, and I'd buy more at a different local
shop if I didn't have to special order things.

To me, it's called a store because, you know, they keep things there.

Flames of war stuff I get from my local-ish hobbycraft (I like to be able to check the blisters beforehand for bad moulding) or online for convenience.
Paints always online unless I need a GW paint in an emergency
I live a 5 minute walk from GW Kingston and I always get blister packs from there to be able to check out any broken parts or bad moulded parts. I get box sets from there as well just because it is so convenient and I dont have to wait. I rarely buy box sets though as I have loads in my painting queue and dont tend to buy new things until the queue is nearly empty.

Local Game Store. Could probably get a slightly better deal if I shopped around online but this keeps the store alive so our club has somewhere to meet and play.

There aren't many game stores that are relatively near me, and fewer still that have a reliable Warhammer stock. Also, I almost exclusively game at home, so for the time being I don't really have any allegiance to a FLGS like I had before I moved to where I am now, so I mostly order online now.

On occasion, when I stop by a GW, I might make an impulse purchase. Usually get my paints direct from GW stores, too.

Ebay/online discounter. I don't play in a store, so why should I subsidise one?

If you were to rely on a store to run your gaming community then it makes perfect sense to support it. Personally i dont have one, the GW we have is only ever filled with a bunch of noisy 8 year olds whose parents abandon them there every weekend.

the war store or littlemeatalmen.co.uk 25% off gw stuff

to understand how many orks it takes to screw in a lightbulb you must calculate the surface area of a standeard sized urinal, multiply that by 3 bajillion, calculate that in svedish half-pennies and convert that amount to japanese yen. or you could ask a Tau to screw in the bulb.

Yes, but hopefully those noisy eight year olds will grow up to be the sort of die-hard Warhammer players that keep the hobby going. Better that than the chavs you see hanging around outside the co-op drinking white lighting (non-uk posters - this is a foul tasting brew favoured by under age drinkers for its low price and high alcohol content).

Personally, I've always saluted GW's staff patience with noisy eight year olds. I know it makes good business sense for GW to do so, but how many other shops sit down with kids and teach them painting and modelling skills? Noisy eight year olds are a necessary evil I'm afraid, but one that can be avoided by going into GW during lunchtime on a weekday.

Small buys and supplies from my LGS. Large bulk purchases from on-line retailers. Almost nothing from GW directly.

GWs in the US have to be traveled to. The nearest one to my house is 15 minutes by
car, and I don't work anywhere near my house, so that's like 40 minutes to an hour drive
from work.

I pay where I play.

If I didn't have an LGS, I'd definitely search out the best online discount I could find, nothing wrong with that. The War Store is great. I used them in the period between our old LGS closing and the new ones opening.

I tend to buy at my LGS, since I would be really bummed if they were to close. I like the owners and they have a good-sized gaming area, though I really don't play there, and just play at home.

If I need to buy in bulk, though, like a lot of warbikes, then I will buy from an online place, though bulk-buying is few and far between for me. Anything new and I just want one of, I go to my LGS, but if it's price-prohibitive to get what i want, then I go thewarstore or another LGS closer to my work that has a discount.

Somewhere in south-central England.

I get all my Warhammer stuff either from the GW shop nearest where I work, for convenience, or from eBay.

On eBay I will buy either from discount traders or from private sellers depending on what I want and pricing.

There aren't any FLGSs left in London, near where I can easily get to, who carry GW.

I live 2 blocks from a GW store here in Chicago, and I work about half a mile from a GW Battlebunker. I try to support both stores with a little buying now and then.

But a good portion of my stuff has come from eBay. You still have to be careful with eBay, though - sometimes the prices used (especially with shipping) total up to even more than you'd pay at a GW store. Hopefully folks don't assume that eBay automatically means 'cheaper' in every case.

I buy in the local non GW game shop. Because the staff there are nicer, and they have a selection beyond GW stuff.

I pop into GW the odd time though, for stuff they don't have.

Large bulk purchases I get either ebay (most likely) or other online places. I just can't afford to pay retail on a large order.

But if I'm buying say less then US$100, I buy from a variety of FLGS that are in my area. And typically when I go game at one of them I tend to purchase something.

When we had it, I always bought from a local FLGS. That's no longer possible, so I tend to support a FLGS that is about 80 miles away. I stop by there when I pass by on the way to my wife's family up north. The store used to be located more downtown Minneapolis and had everything from Plastic Models and Rpg games to just about every type of mini except for historical ones. Now it's in a shop 1/8 the size w/o any room for gaming and little for models or modeling supplies. However, half of the new location is strictly WH fantasy and 40k!

I always buy from my local chapter approved store, mostly because I like to go there and just talk about games with whoever is hanging around. Also I try to schedule games there as often as possible, to avoid this.

I used to buy exclusively at FLGS, because I played there.

Now that I game out of garages, I buy without shame on Internet.

I still buy occasionally locally, but I don't feel any obligation to support any shop that I don't actually frequent.

Toowoomba, Australia

I buy the odd item (usually paints) at my local GW.
There is a FLGS on the other side of town (sadly an 80 minute round trip with good traffic) that gives good discounts and has alot of the modelling stock I use (silfor flock, krylon spray).

But now the financial crisis has settled and the Australian Dollar is back to where it was vs the GBP I'm buying from Maelstrom Games again for a 30% discount, and they mail it too me free within 1 week from the UK to Oz.
I know H.B.M.C. uses them too.
