Would you allow this in your games of Apocalypse? It can basically be used in all armies other than an army chosen from Codex:Chaos Demons. It's not much different from the Subterranean Swarm datasheet in the Apocalypse rulebook that allows the Raveners to assault on the turn they arrive from deep strike, except this datasheet puts a limit on the number of demon units you can have in your army whereas the Tyranid datasheet may have any number of units of Raveners. Constructive criticism is appreciated.

ALLIED DEMONS DATASHEET

POINTS: 200 + models

FORMATION:

May include 1-4 units of demons from Codex:Chaos Demons.

SPECIAL RULES:

Deep Strike: Allied Demons cannot be deployed at the start of the game, nor can they be brought on as normal strategic reserves. Instead each unit will arrive on a turn decided by rolling a D6, seperate to normal strategic reserves.

Turn...............1.............2...............3
D6 roll............4+...........3+.............2+

All units deploy using the deep strike rules and may assault in the turn they arrive.

So basically, a non-daemon army can mass DS daemons onto the board? I'd allow someone to use it against me, definitely.

Actually, I have adjusted it a little so that the Deep Strike rule reads as follows (which has been modified in the original post as well) in order to make it more clear as to how and when the units arrive:

SPECIAL RULES:

Deep Strike: Allied Demons cannot be deployed at the start of the game, nor can they be brought on as normal strategic reserves. Instead each unit will arrive on a turn decided by rolling a D6, seperate to normal strategic reserves.

Turn...............1.............2...............3
D6 roll............4+...........3+.............2+

All units deploy using the deep strike rules and may assault in the turn they arrive.

Seems about fair ,but why would demons not be able to take it ?

Because it's better than normal deployment for demons.

One means the Mechanicum truly loses their gak, and the other means the Eldar realize that Vaul is really a toaster and experience religion fail.

In Apocalypse, we can already take Skittles Daemons from C: Daemons or vanilla Daemons from C: CSM, each following their standard rules for deployment.

For 200 pts, 4 units of Skittles Daemons would gain the ability to Assault after Deep Striking, which seems about right for the points if the force is thematic - i.e. 1 unit from each of the 4 Ruinous Powers.

OTOH, I'm not thrilled if it translates into:

"up to 4 units of BloodCrushers may use the C: CSM rules for arrival to Assault after Deep Striking, but arrive a turn early"

That would be pretty lame.

If I were doing Skittles Daemon assault, I'd rather just take Flank March or Tunnels as my Apocalypse Stratagem and use those 200 pts toward more Daemons.

I've actually done the Flank March before with the demons, but afterwards didn't know if that was really allowed. So are you saying demons can come on the flanks instead of deep striking if Flank March is taken as an asset? That may be something to think about....

I'm assuming that (unlike vanilla Daemons) Skittles Daemons can normally be held in Reserves and simply walk in from the player's board edge.

If that isn't true, and Skittles Daemons are always forced to DS, then Tunnels / Flank March would be of no use.

BTW, what did you think of the Datasheets in Apoc / Reload?

Codex:Chaos Demons say that models in the army always deep strike. Now, if they aren't taken as part of a demon army but as allies in another force, I'm wondering if the rule about deep striking applies? Plus I'm wondering if the Flank March asset allows you to over ride that, which is initially how I understood it.

Are you referring to the Chaos Demons datasheets? I thought some of them were good, although I don't run a Demon army.

Oh.

If they're allies, then they're probably supposed to Deep Strike as they'd probably be looked as an allied "army".

Flank March / Tunnels seems to override the normal restriction, but probably shouldn't.

Just talk it through with your buddies.

It's Apoc, so probably no big deal whether you DS or Flank March.
