Interesting Unkar Plutt (Simon Pegg) theory I just read. How is he connected to all this? He told whoever dropped Rey off to leave her there. Perhaps his job, while not being a nice guy to her, was to keep her safe on the planet. He see her with a droid that he knows bad dudes are trying to capture so he offers her what really is an offer she cant refuse and then she does. Then he calls up his boys to get it from her. Then 1st order jumps in.
The whole he is a money grubbing dirt bag is exactly the image they want to make for him, until they have the flashback that he is involved with, which we really don't make the connection without having access to the script to see it was him.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM! |

Interesting take.
You could also read into his fluctuating prices for her goods as evidence of it. He gives her just enough to get by, thereby keeping her close so he can keep an eye on her as she doesn't have enough money/supplies to leave, along with the whole waiting for family angle.

I think Lor San Tekka was Rey's Obi-wan. He's a friend of Leia and the Resistance, who just happened to be on the same planet as Rey, holding the missing part of the map to Luke's location? Convenient.
Tekka might have left her with Plutt so she was taken care of from a food and job standpoint.
I think there were rumors that the Tekka character was originally going to be Wedge Antilles, but the actor didn't want to reprise his role.

From his comments on it over the years, I never got the impression that he hated the EU. He just wasn't at all interested in it, aside from the odd occasion where it threw up something that he felt he could use in his movies. His stated opinion on it was that it was ok, but it wasn't his Star Wars, and he'd never actually read any of it himself.
With that in mind, though, the EU should never have been treated as any sort of actual canon, even with the 'tiered canon' setup they had, as it was always open to being contradicted by anything that George did. They should have just gone the route that Paramount did with the Star Trek novels - Only the books based on movies or actual TV episodes are canon, and everything else is essentially a 'what if' story. That way, people don't expect anything from the books to be held sacred when a new movie or show comes out.

She should have been the one to kick Finn's ass, not the nameless Stormtrooper. And then get blasted through the air by Chewie's bowcaster but survive, albeit severely wounded and angry, would have established her as a badass and popular villain. Then early on in Episode 8, we see her recovering from her wounds (broken back etc) but shes refusing to rest and take it it easy, wanting to rush her recovery and get back to duty. That would have helped set up a vendetta arc between Phasma and the traitor Finn, because now its personal.
So far the only cool thing about her is the chrome armour.
This would have been brilliant. You need to be the writer.
And Snoke is Jar Jar in disguise.
I don't get the Snoke character. He's like a lame ass Emperor, if the emperor was a mutie. I thought the First Order were hardcore Imperials. Wouldn't they have some dude in a nifty uniform?
It would be funny if the Empire appeared and beat wholesale First Order ass....

The Jar Jar thing is a joke, obviously. However, I think theres credence to the Darth Plagueis theory. Snoke could be Darth Plagueis, the supposedly dead Master of Darth Sidious a.k.a. Emperor Palpatine. In Ep 3 Palpatine describes to Anakin how Plagueis was murdered by his apprentice (Palpatine) in his sleep. Palpatine calls it "The legend of Darth Plagueis", as though it was actually ancient history, when in actual fact it was recent history. An EU novel "Darth Plagueis" reveals that Palpatine 'killed' Plagueis in his sleep the day before Palpatine was elected as Chancellor (Episode 1), because he'd learned everything from his master and had no need of him. Now, theres an obvious flaw in the theory, because the novel describes Plagueis as a Muun. (See below). But that book is probably no longer canon since Disney nuked the Legends continuity. Its possible that JJ Abrams will adapt the Darth Plagueis novel and rework the character's origins, changing his race and appearance. The wiki describes Plagueis thus: Plagueis was a master of esoteric and unnatural aspects of the Force.[9] With it, he was able to manipulate the essence of life,[20] a power Palpatine believed was directly tied to his inward sight.[7] Plagueis could save others from death and, when his power was applied to the extreme, create new life from the midi-chlorians found in all lifeforms.[17] Plagueis even discovered the ability to retain one's identity in the Force while becoming one with it, but this manner of surviving death did not appeal to him, as he was not concerned with the non-material world.[16] He also had some familiarity with the concept of transfer essence, a technique his master also was interested in,[5] but chose not to investigate it, as he desired to become immortal while retaining the use of his body of birth.[1] Plagueis knew how to become a force ghost like Obi Wan, Yoda and Anakin. Its possible that Kylo Ren and the First Order are being lead by a ghost. So its possible Plagueis had learned the secrets of life after death (becoming a force ghost like Obi Wan, Yoda and Anakin), or was even able to bring himself back from death after Palpatine 'killed him in his sleep', and chose to remain hidden all through Episodes 1 - 6, observing his apprentice conquer the galaxy and create an Empire. Plagueis wanted to eradicate the Jedi and have the Dark Side rule the galaxy. Perhaps he was content to let Palpatine believe he was dead, and he returned to his research into the Force. But now Palpatine has fethed up and gotten himself killed and the Light Side was making a resurgence in the form of Luke and his new apprentices, so Plagueis has returned in the guise of 'Snoke' to rebuild the Empire exterminate the new Jedi Order and bring the galaxy back under the control of the Dark Side. Just look at this guy. He's pretty gnarly right? That could be the result of Palpatine's force lightning.

That is a possibility too, though the only evidence for that is the similar scar. They certainly aren't identical scars. Snoke's scar is longer and comes right down to his brow. Anakin's scar stops at the forehead.

My idea is it is palpatine puppeting Vaders body, and so much force being used causes him to deteriorate even more.
Most likely theory? HE is one of Lukes students and he is the one who betaryed him, not ren. Is it specifically stated it is ren who betaryed luke?

But Snoke's left cheek is obscured in shadow right? I can't find any images online of Snoke that clearly show the left side of his face. My impression watching the film was that the left side of his face was caved in or missing entirely. It can't be Palpatine possessing Anakins body ,because Luke cremated it at the end of ROTJ. Thats why the Vader helmet that Kylo Ren talks to is melted and twisted.

Ren is seen in Rey's force vision leading the Knights of Ren in an attack on the Jedi. Ren personally stabs a Jedi (or someone wielding a green lightsabre) through the back.

Well yes, Snoke is explicitly named in the movie by Leia as the one who seduced Ben Solo to the dark side.
The question is, who is Snoke?
I think he's Darth Plagueis, self resurrected from the dead (or maybe he still is dead, and he's a Force Ghost). He watched from the shadows for decades as Palpatine conquered the galaxy, but then Palpatine died, the Empire fell, the Jedi and Plagueis returned to finish what Palpatine started.

Yes. Thats not mutally exclusive to the 'Snoke=Plagueis' theory though.

The 'resurrected Vader' theory that I saw on reddit or wherever posited that only the evil half of Anakin was resurrected. Snoke represents a manifestation of Vader, the Dark Side personality of Anakin Skywalker. The Light Side of Anakin is still one with the Force.

Indeed. And, again, Abrahms has said he isn't, Kasdan didn't even know who Plagueis is, and Andy Serkis has also confirmed that he's a new character.
The actual character of Snoke was supposedly one of the last to be developed for the movie, and they were for a time considering making him a woman... so if he is Plagueis, that would also have to have been a last-minute decision. Serkis says that he's someone who has been watching from the sidelines for a long time, but was not actually a part of any previous story.

Back from 2nd viewing.
I still think they could cut the entire segment on Han's freighter, but aside from that I enjoyed it a lot more this time around. I barely noticed the bits that annoyed me before and Emo Vader is growing on me (still better with the mask on though).
I also made an effort to listen to the new themes this time around and I take back what I said about John Williams phoning it in - he actually produced some great new stuff. I sat through the end credits and listened to the lot - will be buying the soundtrack for sure.
Overall, beginning to wonder whether Force Awakens may actually be better than Jedi. Time will tell of course, but I'm satisfied now that is a damn good entry to the Star Wars saga.

I hope not, because if so, the Dark Side is lame.
(it does fit a little bit though, although he wouldn't need Ren to go somewhere would he?)
