Hi guys, kindof new to playing the game, but ive been collecting for years
This list is for a tourny in my FLGS, but the problem is that we can't change the list in between games, it has to stay the same throughout
I'll be up against Tyranids, Orks, Chaos SM, Imperial Guard, Eldar, and SMs

HQ: Captain with Artificer Armor, Bolter, and Energy Sword - 130pts
Troops: 3x SM(bolters); 1x SM(Flamer); 1x Sgt. (chainsword, BP) - 90 pts
Troops: 3x SM(bolters); 1x SM(Plasma-gun); 1x Sgt. (chainsword, BP) - 100pts
Troops: 3x SM(bolters); 1x SM(Missile-Launcher); 1x Sgt. (chainsword, BP) - 90pts
Troops: 3x SM(bolters); 1x SM(Missile-Launcher); 1x Sgt. (chainsword, BP) - 90pts

thats pretty much it
500 points exactly
I need to know if this is good enough

Only Tactical Squads numbering 10 Space Marines can take special weapons. This of course is easily solved by taking 2x10 Tacs instead and using Combat Squads if you need 4 squads.

Thing is 2 tac quads of 10 is 340 pts minimum, plus HQ that's 440 pts. Not much you can do with that BUT:

Librarian @ 100 Pts
Vortex of Doom; Might of the Ancients

10 Tactical Squad @ 170 Pts
Missile Launcher; Flamer

10 Tactical Squad @ 170 Pts
Missile Launcher; Flamer

Land Speeder @ 60 Pts
Heavy Bolter (x2)

The librarian has powers that works against anything that your tacs can't take on, while your Tacs and Speeder can chew thru most troops. Tyranids will most likely have Genestealers, which your Land Speeder destroys, Ork will pack at least 40 boyz, which can be shot by everything you have, SM willl probably be a mirror match or a LR with scouts, CSM I dunno, IG no problem, Eldar no problem.

EDIT: Instead of a Libby you can take a Captain with nothing if you don't wanna get esoteric

Do not take Might of the Ancients. Librarian only has iniative of 4 and no invulnerable save. By the time he gets to attack, he's already sliced to death three times because most of the HQs have iniative 5. Force weapon alone is enough if the opponents don't take cheese to its maximum. By the way, if you up your strength, you will not be able to instant death with your force weapon. So Quickening is better. Gate of Infinity is the best because one of your tacticals can deep strike onto an objective and rapid fire the hell out of for example IG.

I kit my librarian with jump pack, GoI and the Avenger. It has worked fine in my games. Two weeks ago it torched remnants of a striking scorpion unit and 8 guardians. Jump pack is nice because you can do suicide strikes and hop over the enemy to get good flaming positions. Almost nothing can stand ap 3.

In smaller games a librarian is much better than a captain.

Since the way you have this looks like you have 1 HQ and 4 Troop Selections, you might end up getting screwed if the tourney limits the number of Force Organization seletions that you can field at any one point in time, regardless of points.

Here's my selection. And this is going off of the assumption that you only have these models (or maybe a couple more) to deal with... I'm using the rules out of the Space Marines Codex here.

HQ: Command Squad containing your Captain and 5 Marines (1 Sgt and 4 Marines. Put your Plasma Gunner here).
Troops: Tactical Squad containing 1 Sergeant, 1 Missile Launcher, 1 Flamer, 7 Bolters
Troops: Tactical Squad containing 1 Sergeant, 1 Missile Launcher, 1 Flamer, 7 Bolters

This way, you can slide a few more marines in at low cost and your command squad can have mulitple heavy weapons in it should you so choose. This is the legal way, i've found out, to have multiple Missile Launchers (or other heavy weapons) and keep your Force Organization selections down. In other words, you don't have to select an additional Heavy Support in the form of a Devastator Squad.


Out of curiosity, are you using any specific chapter (i.e. Ultramarines, Blood Angels, Black Templars, etc...)

with a land speeder, only with HB and a H-Flamer
