Hello!
Just some questions I'd love answers to...
1) WHY does the far superior and aesthetically pleasing MARS Pattern Warhound "only" come with the option to have a Vulcan Mega Bolter and Plasma Blastgun while the boxy and in no way deserving LUCIUS (Jackal and Wolf) Patterns get the full selection of weapons?
2) WHY doesn't Forge World make the weapons available separately?
3) Has there been any hint or rumor that Forge World will be making an Eldar Phantom or Warlock Titan?
4) When painting these huge models, do most people resort to airbrushes, or is it still possible to use 'traditional' brushes and methods to good effect?
Thanks!

Well sure, but other than that, there's got to some other reasons too.
Right?

1) Got distracted by shinies?
2) Convienience to them. Better to make a buggerload of money, than to make dribs and drabs.
3) Probably not, maybe in the future.
4) I drybrushed mine. The whole thing, and while it's solid colours, it wasn't THAT difficult to do. An airbrush just makes it a hell of a lot easier.

Convenience maybe, but this being Forge World, I'm sure that they'd make a bit more than a drib or a drab on individual Titan Weapons...

FW doesn't make anything available separately. They have no bitz service to speak of. If they did, don't you think every Macharius owner would order the other turrets? I know I would...

They won't even cast individual replacement parts. If you're missing a part or a part is miscast(not talking just bubbles or misalignment, but only half cast or similar), they have to send you an entire new kit/set as replacement. They also don't take back the original, as they can't re-use the resin.

Not true, in my experience so far. I had two miscast parts from two different packs (cadian upgrades and cadian veterans), and they only sent me a replacement sprue that the part was part of, not an entire new set of cadian upgrades/veterans.
I also doubt that if you had a miscast toe on your titan, that they would send you an entire titan as a replacement =) If this were the case, you'd have people calling up claiming miscasts all over the place...

Thankfully I've never acutally had a mistake in a FW order, nor has anything I've bought been so badly miscast that I couldn't fix it myself (sure the Stormblade doesn't fit together properly, but that's because it's a gakky model, not because of any miscasts). I'm glad for this, because dealing with FW when they get it right is hard enough. I can't imagine what it would be like if I actually needed their help!!!

They did it for me, but I've only ever had a miscast once and it was a serious miscast on a vital piece(Main body of a Hydra). They also may have changed this policy as my experience was years ago, probably 2-3 years after they started.

I would use spray primer and spray basecoat.
You should be able to get spray acrylic at most art stores.

I'll probably end up doing that.
IF I get brave (?) enough to buy a Forgeworld Warhound.
I really want to, but fear that my painting skills won't match up to that model...

Well if you do get one, get the most recent kit as you can (in this case the Mars pattern). The reason is the newer FW kits are better designed than the old ones. Just look at something like the Macharius or the Bombard and compare it to something like the original Baneblade or the Manticore. The latter two kits are just horrible things to force together, whereas the former two were an absolute breeze.
I can't imagine what the toes on the original Warhound will be like to put together (forget miscasts - my bet is they won't actually fit together in the first place), and if there's any chance the Mars-Pattern's toes are newer, go for that one.

I had no idea that the MARS pattern was the newer one, but it looks like that will work in my favor on this one...
