There is absolutely NOTHING in this issue for 40k players. That is unless you want to allow GW to shove Apocalypse down your throat (I dont) in which case the entire issue it seems is dedicated to the Stompa and Baneblade hull tanks.
WD has been really bad, I know, but I frequently find SOMETHING in there to read. Even if its Jervis complaining about Tournement play.... There's always SOMETHING that applies to 40k.
This issue....nothing, nathan, nada. The most exiting peice of 40k news to me in this ish is the upcoming Wolf Guard with lightning claws...and I dont even play space wolves or necessarily care for the model. There is also a feature on the Black reach Warboss on how to paint him.
I dont play Apocalypse, I'm not extremely exited about the lizardmen release as I'm building a Dark Elf army slowly....this issue sucks ballz. I knew it was going to be bad...it always is...but spending an extra dollar now for something that neglects me so badly infuriates me.
I've held out for long enough...used to pick up every white dwarf...then the content started shifting and I perused them at least before I picked them up...then it got even worse and I only picked them up if I was either really exited about some article or if the mag seems like its ALL 40k (rare)...THEN the price increase for the 130 pg flyer went thru...and this is my first issue since then.
It's also my last...ever. Screw you White Dwarf, never again. If there was a GW employee involved in making the White Dwarf within 10 feet of me right now, I'd wing the mag at him spine first. This thing is garbage. Strike that, white dwarf has BEEN garbage, but at least there's usually something to laugh at or talk about...this time there isnt even that.
I know, I deserved it....but I feel better now. I'm going to go take a poop now, and wipe my butt with the cover right all over that stompa, I'm not kidding.

I'm getting it, but then again, I think Apocalypse is infinitely better than points based 40K. Apocalypse reminds me of my friends and I throwing down everything we owned on my parent's pool table and playing all night when we were in high school. Great fun to play that way and we always had scenarios for each game with special rules and plenty of VDR/home-made units and vehicles.

Apocalypse is inherantly points based too...otherwise its a giant cluster-fuc* of a game. All that different is you play more points and get to use your big things.

Look, we all know that White Dwarf has deteriorated to nothing more than a magazine size advertisement. But ranting because one issue doesn't do anything for you is silly. You don't play Apoc; others do. The Lizardmen release features don't excite you. Well, now you know how Lizardmen players felt when the new Dark Elf releases were showcased over 2-3 issues. There's lots of things you can criticize White Dwarf for. But you've known for a while that it's always about the new stuff.

I used to buy WD when the battle reports were told in a story instead of "...and then the Farseer failed his armour save and was removed". That also used to be when WD was cool. I don't remember what issue # those were though... hehe.

I'm a big Apoc player and even I thought it stunk it up. It was just silly, 8+ Stompas puh-leese!
Also it only contains two of the data sheets.
On the plus side, it does have rules for custom stompas.

No Sir it does not. It has the shadowsword and the stormlord wich was already released in Apoc Reloaded. It has a note stating that the sheets will be released on line.

But the stormlord rules in Apoc reloaded were all messed up. They didn't list the tank as having a hull-mounted TL heavy bolter on the front and didn't give you any options to take heavy stubbers on the crew compartment, even though both were shown in the datasheet's diagram. These weapons are also found on the new model so we're all hoping that the WD datasheet has fixed these omissions.
Got any info on that?

Hmm... I thought they were going to release the rules in WD.
Not that I care mind you - one less thing I have to buy - but I thought that was kinda the point of the whole Stompa/Shadowsword issue.
But online is better. I like PDFs.

Ha! Well to each his own. I just spent an hour completely enjoying this issue. I guess I'm more easily amused, or less cynical, than some.
Yep, it featured the Stomper and Shadowsword kits, and the Lizardmen. Gee, I wonder why? Excellant article on the new stuff, rules for things you can make from the new kits, variant stompers, and mekboy upgrades.
The mekboy upgrades scare me, as they may cause me to build about 3 more stompers than I was going to do originally. Belly gun? Wrecking ball? Redpaint job? This is sounding like what I liked about the old epic game.
And the big, doublesided poster was pretty cool.

I've been spending my hard earned coins on No Quarter and have yet to be disappointed. PP publishes a great mag that contains aspects for all; tactica, previews, battle reports, how to-do, painting, fluff, tourny support and advertisements.
The last decent WD was some time in the early 2000s...
