I`m curious which material do you prefer - resin or metal?

I like metal for 2 reasons..

1) Its METAL!!!
2) Almost my entire army is made up of metal models (I play SoB), and they both can gave the same level of detail, I just like the feel of metal models

Are we assuming plastic > both?

That is certainly my opinion, with metal beating resin, due to resin's fragility. The lack of durability kills it for wargaming.

I don't mind metal for troops that can be made as one-piece castings, but otherwise I would prefer plastic. However, resin kits like the old armorcast vehicles are chunky enough to be pretty durable.

I hate working with resin.

Give me plastic any day of the week! Much easier to work with.

I like plastic, then metal, then resin.

Doesn't resin get in your lungs and make you die a slow & horrible death when you sand it?

Resin dust is carcinogenic, yes, but it's not the breathable death everyone makes it out to be. Think about it - would breathing plastic dust or metal filings be any better for you?

As long as you do sawing and sanding outside, you're fine.

I mean look, maybe my experience with resin is coloured by the fact that I've bought stupid amounts of Forge World stuff and there's almost always a problem with it, and Forge World itself is a horrid, horrid company that wouldn't know customer service if it came up and bit 'em in the face.

So maybe that's why I dislike resin.

I've had more experience with metal than resin and I really don't have a problem working with either.
(I also understand and find that plastic is easier than both)
For me it has to be metal. I prefer the weight.
Why do you ask?

Everyone: No.

For major conversion work, I prefer plastic. I prefer metal over everything else for the simple "feel" of it while playing; it feels...solid and substantial. I feel like it's worth something, not chintzy, not cheap. I always flash back to playing with those green plastic army men when I was five when I play with plastics. Resin can have the detail of the best metal casts, but some of the ease of conversion of plastic.

I own a lot of it all, but if given the option, I would choose metal over the rest.

On the other hand, metal can be bent with little fuss. . .

You lose some of the posing options of multi-part plastic but a little arm-swapping and bending can really vary the poses within a unit of metal models like pathfinders, so as to avoid the army-of-synchronized-clone-mimes feel that can arise (I've been having fun with that)

Also, I've never used resin, so I can't speak to that.

People are saying that metal minis can be more detailed than plastic. Really? That's news to me. Would somebody mind explaining?
