Subject: What happened to the Daemonettes and the Defiler?

Okay, I had a quick search and scanned the page and didn't find anything related to this, but I apologize if this has been covered before.
I recently got back into wargaming after 4 years and bought my friend's 2500pt and largely unpainted Chaos army, because I got sick of worshipping a corpse. I noticed there were 6 Daemonettes included, which are GORGEOUS models. I decided to bolster my daemonettes and came upon a horrible discovery: They're plastic! not only that, they are in crap poses with the breasts (I'm not a pervert, lol) which identifies something as slaaneshi, were covered up. So, i thought " i need a defiler, I'll buy one of those instead" and correct me If i'm wrong, didn't they used to be metal too?
Not a big deal about the defiler, as it looks much the same, but the Daemonettes?
Does anybody share my view?
PS, I'll just order a Dreadnought from Forgeworld, I think

Yeah, the 3rd edition demonettes looked waaayyyy better then the current plastic ones.
So, do you always buy stuff without looking at it?

I read the box first, lol, I decided not to buy, I'll just stick with the six metal ones that came with the army.

The Defiler has always been a plastic kit, but there were metal conversions floating around prior to the kit release.
The metal Daemonettes were replaced with plastics at the end of last year, when the Chaos Daemons book was released. The metals sold out well before the changeover, as soon as the plastics were leaked...

The Defiler was never metal, and it would have been a nightmare to assemble if it was. As for the Daemonettes, I always prefer plastic over metal if I can, since it is lighter and glues better, but the issue you have is with pose, not material. It shouldn't be hard to find some of the older metal models on ebay or a bitz site if it is that important to you.

The defiler WAS metal, but not in it's current form. The first codex with it came out before the plastic kit did. GW released a bitz kit that was ridiculously smaller and looked NOTHING like it.

I must admit I thoroughly dislike the look of the plastic daemonettes. For me its the hair. Plastic never seems to do hair well. It looks like a gaggle of lampreys stuck on their heads and not hair as such.
Given their hair is such a feature on particularly the leader, this is a bad thing for me.

the new daemonettes look like gak IMHO.
better off buying the older ones from ebay, or buying D. Elf witches.

The original Defiler bitz pack that GW released before the model came out was roughly the size of a rhino and used a number of parts to make something that looked vaguely like this http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2314/1538292307_785e02bf9d.jpg?v=0.

I have 18 of the metal damonettes and you can have them when you pry them from my cold dead hands. (well 20 if you count the two chained to my deflier )
I hated the new plastic ones up until I saw some very talented painters work on them, then they looked pretty cool. But a half as paint job just makes them look bad, really bad.
Usually I can look past a paint job, but not with these.
