heya guys final piece for the grey knights GW project been working. was asked to do a realy big piece ie compositionaly for a banner/ poster for games day. the brief was to depict the first war of armageddon when the final assault on the inner hive to find and destroy the deamon primrich aragorn and his 12 greater deamons. 200 hundred grey knights space marines went in but only 2 came out. anyway enough with the talk. thanks for looking theo"

Looks like cover art. good cover art. probably isn't. Poor GK's.

That is the coolest warlord ever.

Could be codex art, but seeing as it is the first Armageddon war it could be the art for that 40k version of MIGHTY EMPIRES.

WD keeps making mention about Matt Hudson preparing something Armageddon themed for a future WD issue, just look at his 40k armies, he said he was stocking up on Steel Legion models and marine chapters that fought on Armageddon.

Looks interesting, part of me just says 'it fan art, there are no chaplains or jump troops in GK's' but wouldn't be the first time they have changed grey knights so looks interesting.

It was commissioned by GW according to the artists blurb in the article.

Don't mean it's gunna be used for anything but damn is it awesome.

If it was to be used as a cover for something other than a GK-related codex, you'd think that they'd put a few more enemies on it.

The only "opponents" I see are crushed under some GK.

I think Mighty Empires 40k is a good pick. You've got titans, thunderhawks and a rather long wall in there.

So I'd think something bigger than Epic scale.

Also, if they're going to be expanding Codex: Daemon Hunters into Codex: Grey Knights as has been rumoured for the next time it's released, I don't see why they wouldn't expand the chapter to me more flexible and more like other Chapters instead of just Power Armor or Terminators since they'll actually be the bulk of the army(being the Ordo Militant and all).

Well, if I remember my fluff correctly, the GK weren't called in until Angron and his bodyguard started to attck the SW lines. So where is Angron? Or the Space Wolves for that matter?

Well the artist doesn't seem to have his facts straight, and the picture, although detailed and interesting, is a pain to look at because I can't tell where one guy ends and the next begins without close scrutiny. That is all.

This piece of art is actually an amalgamation of several others. You can find the artists deviant art and it has all the variations on it, thats one of the reasons the flow is broken up in a few instances.

All GW commissioned manpile images are out of perspective in this way.

Those are some frikkin' sweet Lightning Claws. Now, why can't they give us Terminators with lightning claws like that rather than the crap that comes in the Assaut Terminator box?

At least with Chaplains that will get a Nope... sorry... wrong. There is mention of a chaplain Durendin in the GK novels. Their armor is standard silver termie armor with gloss black arms using lightning claws instead of a Crozious Arcanium as the symbol of station. The lightning claws get passed down from Chaplain to chaplain.

As for jump packers... never mentioned. Not really their style. They do like their Thunderhawks and drop pods. Anything to get them into position fast and get in with the killing of deamons.

On another note... don't expect Apothacaries if they flesh out the list. Then mentioned on of those as well and he had his special organs removed because he did not need them in the support role he served. They seem to be a very fatalistic chapter. They do not even like being entombed into dreads. They would rather die to be enshrined in the crypts on titan than suffer a long life of servitude in a dread.
