i recently bought a space marine attack bike and want to paint it to go with my space wolves. I thought that the usual space marine helmets wouls be better replaced by some gnarly heads, so i set about making my own from green stuff. please bear in mind that this is my first attempt at modeling anything from scratch, and i belaive i may have done the head slightly too big. comments and critisism appreciated.....

Thanks guys, this is the rider for bike, I am working on the head for the marine in the side car, will post the image when its ready.

Finaly, the other head is completed, by the way, a tip when sculpting with a scalpel..... licking it to keep it wet isn't the best idea! Use a cup of water instead!

The rider with just a 'stache looks a lot like the Swedish Chef from the Muppets - your mission now is to sculpt a chef's hat and bushy eyebrows on him.

Very cool. The heads are a little big, but given they will be on a bike with a bunch of flying hair I think the overall effect will look pretty good. Doing is the only way to get better so keep on doing!

I'm not sure weather to go for long windswept hair on the second head, or go for the bald geriatric look?

Still very much work in progress, modded the handlebars with some paperclips, "Easy Rider"!!

Well I got no prob with a old biker but he would be a wolf guard leader.
I have all the gw printed codexes there is a lost one well I might have to find that one.

I didn't make it up, Honest!! the Lost Codex is hidden in the basement of the vatican with all the other stuff THEY don't want you to know. Ha Ha. lol

Great looking sculpts, i might consider doign this myself when i get some blood claw bikers going.

i did notice one thing, the chins look a little small, after you added the beard the first one, it now looks stunning.

other than that, great work, keep it up!

Thanks, I'm thinking of doing wolf head and skin to drape over the back of the bike next. the will probably end up too big as well, am finding it quite difficult to model things small enough. the reason for the small chin on the first head was because I had originally made the head far too big, and had to shave it down to make it a more acceptable size.

Have any other dakka members sculpted new heads for their minis? I'd love to see pics if you have...please post them here.

Decided to chuck som paint on the first head to see what it will look like, overall I am quite pleased.

looks def great and very realistic .
the only thing that i'm not sure about is if you have met the correct size or of it is a little to big.
maybe this will be ok, as soon as there are arms and shoulder pads attached to the mini.
i think espacially with space-wolves it is very important to keep the face itself small, when planing to add a lot of hair or a beard to the face. otherwise it could be, that a mrine with such a selfmade head had, looks somehow strange when standing next to a marine with a helmet on, that is not bigger than the others head.
but in your case i think this won't be a problem, because you also sculpted the codrivers head.
