Mutant Chronicles Miniatures Game Community:
It is with regret that Fantasy Flight Games must announce the cancellation of the Mutant Chronicles Miniatures Game. Unfortunately, despite big GAMA Trade Show and Gen Con promotions along with aggressive advertising and a premium league kit to support organized play, sales never rose to the level necessary to sustain the game.
We at FFG spent a lot of time and energy on creating this game, and we're big fans of the world and system. While we are open to offers from other companies for the rights to the game line, this chapter of the Mutant Chronicles saga has drawn to a close.
However, we certainly don't want to leave players with an incomplete first set. You supported this game, so we would like to support you.
We will be selling Mutant Chronicles: Lost Legions, a box containing the remaining 13 miniatures that were never released as well as one previously-released figure from the starter set that was never released in a Warpack (see below for images), plus a poster map, promo cards, and (while supplies last) a Mutant Chronicles patch, all for a price of $10.00 plus shipping. In addition, extra Mutant Chronicles dice sets are available for $4.95 plus shipping.
You can purchase these items in the FFG Online Store. Retail stores wishing to offer this to their customers can contact Rick Nauertz in the FFG Sales Department.
In addition, we will be posting PDFs of the cards for the already-designed next set of miniatures – 29 figures for the five released factions, plus unit card templates for Cybertronic, Imperial, Mishima and Semaï – for free download, as our gift to those of you who love this great game. You can proxy your own figures in this free expansion, and design your own characters, making your Mutant Chronicles experience last for years to come.
Finally, we want to thank all of you who purchased Mutant Chronicles, played it with your friends, showed it off at your local games store, and helped to get others into the game. Your efforts are appreciated.
Figures included in the Lost Legions set include:
(left to right): Free Marine Soldier, Mitch Hunter, Freedom Brigadier Sergeant,
Free Marine Tank Hunter, Free Marine Hero
(left to right): Dragoon Kapitan, Battlesuit Prototype, Etoilles Mortant, Max Steiner,
Security Specialist, Dragoon
(left to right): Advanced Bio Giant, Infernal Corroder, Bio Giant

Promo Cards (PDF, 1.6MB)
Character Cards and Templates (PDF, 6.4MB)
The Mutant Chronicles Miniatures Game is a dark gothic science fiction skirmish-scale miniatures game based in a future of mutants and megacorporations.
I really like the game and the look of it (hated the movie) but the move to a new scale and the prepainted idea turned me off.

Ironically, a sizable chunk of the old Warzone line is still available from Prince August, a good 10 years since it was originally discontinued.

Warzone was never a 40K ripoff. It was the attempt to capitalize Target Games´ successful Mutant Chronicles RPG and CCG. But Target growed to fast and the MC franchise died a messy dead due to continous restructuring.
I'm a little bit sad the game met its end so soon but on the other hand perhaps somebody will pick up the rights and make new 28mm minis for me to add to my Mishima army.

Can we not set up a Dakka Hall of the Fallen, to commemorate and acknowledge those games which fell by the wayside?
Could be useful to would be players, especially if it contained reviews and links, particularly if said game is continued in a small way by another company?

I always really liked Mutant Chronicles, the fluff and the imagery and even thought the movie was decent enough for the price I paid (free!). I tried real hard getting into Warzone back in the day, the game was fun and I liked the models a lot, but 40k was always just what I wanted to focus on. I ended up just using some of my capitol troops as imperial guard back in 2nd edition.
I'd really like to see it come back some day and done right from scratch, but I know i would probably never get into it because I have too much invested in GW stuff and not enough time to focus on anything else.

I loved playing the Mutant Chronicles RPG and very much enjoyed Warzone. I had a harder time deciding what army not to play, instead of which army i was going to collect. I loved them all. However I hated the collectible miniatures game, and from everything i have seen with the new RPG it looks like that will stink too. The new stuff, CMG and RPG, is not Mutant Chronicles. They changed way too much, especially the look and feel that I really liked.
I can't say i am sorry to see this happen, but i fear this also means the final end to Mutant Chronicles as well.

I second all of these comments. Saying that WZ was a " 40K ripoff" is just... stupid. It makes no sense, because it simply isn't true.
I always believed (and still do) that WZ was a better game, mechanically, than 40K ever has been. Unfortunately, a good set of rules can't sell a game alone, really, and certainly can't acquire the momentum needed to compete with the likes of GW. Marketing and all that stuff plays as much a part in the games we play, as do the very rule-systems themselves.
Honestly, though, after seeing the MC CMG at GenCon, I told friends immediately that it was doomed to failure. The game just wasn't well thought-out, the scale change does little to entice former fans back into the fold, the 'collectable' part was just a trashy gimmick - not to mention the 'board game' refit. Overall, it just wasn't a terribly smart move on FFG's part, and their announcement simply confirms it.
Strangely enough, about a month ago my local RP group decided to start a new MC campaign. Been a blast so far, and I'm looking forward to some more stalking on the streets of Luna.
Just my 2 Cardinal's Crowns, tho.

I always liked WZ but there weren't enough people around to actually play it. The second edition box set was a really great set with lots of figs and templates. The "Codex"s were fairly well done, it is a shame the only got a few of them out. Capitol ftw btw.

Not that Mutant Chronicles is in any way derivative of 40K, but the old Rogue Trader plastic Space Marines, which pre-date MC/Warzone, came with chainsaw bayonets for their bolters. Just sayin. The MC versions looked way cooler though.

I've got a decent-size IG force made up of Warzone figs with GW bitz. Other than the silly-sized pointy shoulderpads, they really rocked. In fact, I think I'll nip over to Prince August and see if they're having a sale on them right now. When the sales are on, they're stupidly cheap.
As for Mutant Chronicles, if they'd done plastics in 54mm when Inquisitor was still fresh, they probably would have made decent loot on the ride-along.

apparently it is a shock to a few people. there's always 1 or 2 in various other sites' threads on this topic that are still now suprised it didn't take off. they also don't understand why the scale was a big deal, in their humble opinions. for me, hearing the scale for a collectible game was twice that of anything else i had made it useless for me. i still occasionally bust out some select vor or warzone figs on the 40k tabletop as standin's. that wouldn't happen with some crappy posed and painted MC CMG figs. epic fail for a company that had all epic wins in it's camp.

i'm still surprised that FFG decided to go the route they did (and surprised they wanted to touch the Mutant Cronicals/Warzone IP at all). Ever since Warzone left Heartbreaker it was doomed to fail. I knew lots of people who played back in the day before 2nd edition was released, but as soon as they released the big 40k ripoff boxed set it was all over for everyone i knew who played. Prior to that they had the everyone gets new rules at the same time model down before PP did and every new rulebook was a lot of fun (full color too). I'm pretty sure for a while Warzone sales got close to rivaling those of 40k in our area. I'm sure mikhaila could comment more specifically.
I still think the IP could succeed, but they'd have to get rid of all the old scupts and work on getting more modern sculpts and possibly plastics. They'd need two games too. One leaning towards small scale detailed skirmishes and one for a mass combat game.

I thought if FF was going to go with a new scale 10mm or 15mm would be best. that way they could make a lot of the nify retro-tech steam punk tanks and planes and blimps that aren't practical in 28mm.
The things the doomed Warzone are many, such as doing a box set with plastics, but then designing plastics that only fit together one way, and throwing in two human armies rather than Trenchers vs zombies which would have sold better.
Oh well.
Looking forward to the next attempt in 2014!

They were Warzone from the time in the early 2000s when Excelsior had the license, before they went belly up.

Warzone has been completely run into the ground and the art style is, to be frank, old and has lost its appeal.
I think the setting is very cool, every bit as good as 40k, but without appeal it's hard to get people to pickup the game in the first place.
Any future attempt to bring back this game needs to pretty much dump all of the old stuff, bring back the old scale, then make all new art and miniatures to go with it.

I should really pick up some of those minis from Prince August. The range as a whole is poor, but there are some exceptional pieces that are quite nice. Plus they're selling a bag of 80 plastic starter set miniatures for 20€, and those are not bad at all.
