Okay so heres the scoop:

One of the things I need for my army are Terminators. They are about 50 bucks for a box of 5. Now here is my quandary.... The CSM Terminators I use are pretty standard (4 Terminators 5 w/ Combi-Melta , 1 w/ Chainfist, 1 w/ Icon of Chaos Glory. CSM Termi Lord using the 5th Combi). So, would i be better off buying the CSM Termi box and investing in the bitz for the Combi-Melta (even though as a full squad of them all I would have to say is "these are all Combi Meltas")? Or seeing as my Fiancé is interested in WH40k as well would i be better off buying the AoBR set and using the Termies from that since I could just say "these are al combi meltas" with my terminators? Plus i need a Devistator anyway lol.

I'm just curious what people think. Same price, more stuff *shrug*

From a WYSIWYG fanatic like me, seeing loyalist Terminators and being told they're Chaos Terminators w/Combi-Meltas would make me quite annoyed.

Invest in the bits. It will always look better that way, and be correct on the table.

I would go with the AoBR box and just model some melta nozzles out of green stuff. Bum some spiky bits from other Chaos sprues to complete the termies and get several other models to boot.

Yeah it is easy to get those AoBR termies these days. I like your idea of using the CSM bits CSM sprues give you so much more then SM sprues. I like to avoid green stuff as much as possible and just bum off my LGS

and if it seems too confusing here is how it works.

I didn't mean fresh-out-of-the-box. I meant with modifications. Also I really don't have a ton of money to invest into 40k so I have to be price-savvy whenever possible. As a drummer, I have ALOT of expenses ALL the time lol.

I have plenty of Leftover bit spikes and such from my Defiler. Do you have any pics or reference of the best way to do this? How much alteration would i really have to make? They look almost the same other then spikes and mean looking helmets lol.

I'm about to hit the hay but I'll take a better picture tomorrow. Here's a squad that's a mix of 6 chaos termies and 4 converted AoBR termies.

Most of the addons are just spikes from other sprues. The shoulder spikes attach a lot easier if you use a file to make a groove in the armor first.

Nice. So it CAN be done lol. And I'd get a Dreadnought out of the deal lol.

You do! In fact, BlackDraco used the power claw from the AoBR warboss, some defiler bits, a few more spikes, some green stuff, and his massive brain to convert himself a CC Chaos Dreadnought. His army looks so much better than mine.

I converted my aobr terminators into Nurgle terminators, so I'd heartily recommend the aobr as a great cheap alternative to buying CSM terminators.

(ah an excuse to post stuff )
