I started playing 40k back when Rogue Trader came out a few decades ago and the first marine I ever painted was a Crimson Fist - based on the marines on the cover, naturally. I vowed to myself that I would make a Crimson Fist army. I spent all my spare time in my classes scribbling drawings of Crimson Fists in battle. I've even got a Rogue Trader era Crimson Fist patch that would look really cool on a baseball hat. Instead, I wound up making a DA army (in classic DA colors, mind you - black and red!) I built a variety of other armies over time - Orks, Harlequins, Eldar, IG, Deathwing, Space Wolves, even more eclectic stuff like Adeptus Arbites. And every few years, I would come back to wanting to make a Codex SM army and I would be faced with the vow I made on my very first Space Marine - "I will make a Crimson Fist army". I think I've attempted to make at least four Crimson Fist armies and I've never once managed to complete one without getting sidetracked by something I find more exciting and then selling/trading off the SM models (and/or making a different SM army out of them).

Once again (while I'm also working on my new IG army), I'm building a SM army again. I've got my army list set - I know exactly what I'm playing - but I haven't decided how to model them. I've got some ideas for making a Deathwatch army that I think would be really cool. And I've always loved the Badab War and so I'm tempted to make them as Space Sharks (not to mention the fact that with the new Space Wolves codex coming out soon, I'd model the Space Sharks in such a way as to be able to use them as counts-as Space Wolves). But still, I'm haunted by the Crimson Fists...by the army that has never been. And that Crimson Fist patch lurks in my dice bag, taunting me, mocking me, nagging me. Sometimes I wonder if the curse would go away if I got rid of the patch. But then, just as often, I wonder if I finally make a Crimson Fist army if that will wind up being my favorite army - my long, lost love. Or if I would just be bitter at it for it forcing me to build it...okay, okay, that sounds a little crazy, I admit. But have you been cursed by an army?

Grey Knights keeps on Taunting me. Just cannot give in because of the cost of an all metal army.

Imperial Guard... With the new codex, they practically pulled a wad of dough from my checking account and began tossing it around. However, I stuck true, bought a bunch of nids as I promised I would, and have gone along with them. Now, once they're painted, IG will be my fourth army...

Yeah, that was my problem with my Eldar, too - my Harlequins totally vexed me as I just didn't have the skills to paint them up as they deserved to be.

Every time I look at the Casket of Souls or High Elf Lord on Dragon, I start thinking of the armies I'd run. Then I realize how very little I would want to paint either army, and go on about my day...

I hate my own Tau. I can't get enthused about them anymore, I can't paint them and keep changing my mind on schemes (some minis have been stripped about five times now, and I've spent so much on different paints...), and I keep getting stomped every time I actually get them out for a game. That and everyone else's attitude towards Tau doesn't help, either.

I can't sell them because no one would buy them and I wouldn't get near enough to get another army anyway. Don't know what other army I'd do, I'd like Dark Eldar honestly, but I imagine it'd be even more annoying waiting for an update you know will never come.

I've been "cursed" by the Planet Killer in BFG. I think I bought and sold and traded that thing like 3 times. Finally, I just decided to keep it for the back burner.

Marines, be they CSM or Space Wolves.

I am almost completely incapable of winning with a eldar army. They were my first army, and I strongly expect that I might one day trade them away.

I also have lost all enthusiasm for my orc and goblin army. Both these armies can probably be expected to be kicked away over ebay some day.

Yes, for me it was Chaos. I get too into it. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with liking Chaos and getting into the fluff or a little role play. But for me, it got like a religion or something. So I've made and thrown away 3 entire painted Chaos Space marine armies and one was like 8000 pts of stuff. Now I'm happy with my Sisters of Battle. But sometimes I hear Slaanesh and Papa Nurgle whispering in my ear...no! Must resist! Will...strong! Praise the Emperor, He is my protector! Ahh...I feel better.

Um, tau and orks, i love both armies to bits but i cant win with them to save my life. There supposedly ok lists too. (note to self: this may not be a curse just my abnormally bad playing skills) Of course, i sold my tau because they really were a curse!

My High elves.

4 Units of silver helm horses painted, and have been putting off painting the riders for oh... about 5 months now.

In game I can't beat my friend Khorne CSM army, my Tau and DA have failed me enough...bring out my incomplete ork army.

My own tau vex me, the generic view people have that they are fine really bugs me, as I have only ever drawn with them twice the rest I just get stomped. I have 5 models left to buy for the army and I can't seem to get myself to go out an get them, or paint them for that matter. My DA also bug me, I started them a few months before the new SM dex came out only to watch it really defeat the purpose of my dex...rather vexing when an army goes from playable with any build to 2 builds only, neither of which are in my price range. Oh well perhaps one day I will finish one of my 3 armies.

My Catachans. I had almost 300 painted minis, tanks and sentinels stolen (all the original metal ones). Rebuilt the army & had an entire GW case full of them disappear (once again, all painted metal). I now only take them out of the house after donning my Blackhawk Tactical Crossdraw vest with my Glock 22, drop leg holster with my custom 1911 and a Remington pistol gripped 870, so that I can properly protect them!

I am cursed by the tau... I can't hit... even with Twinlinked BS 5 :(

Orks... I love the models, love the fluff, have a bunch stashed away ready to build/paint. But for the love of god I cant seem to actually give them the love they deserve.

Mech/Jetbike Eldar. I have a bunch of stuff that I always put on the back burner for my Tyranids or Grey Knights. Between converting the jetbike riders, converting jetlocks, and my absurd 5 colour fade lightning pattern for the hulls this army may never be done.

For me it's SM as well. I've stripped them and repainted them 3 or more times and I can't get the feel or look to how I want it. Was gonna be smurfs, didn't like the blues. Was gonna be Blood Angels, but I fell in love with Assault Troops and set tacs aside. Then decided I liked the fluff of the Lamenters, got 1/2 the army basecoated and then the paint started not matching between the basecoats. So now I'm working on #4 and by god they will be Lamenters.

Ahhh thats sort of like me ( but luckily i use black or white under coat so no blue or red mismatch for me )
However i do end up with 3 different color scheme after painting just 4 squad members lol.

Eldar and High Elves... I always wanted both, but my painting style lends itself better to "dirtier" armies, and I always felt like they should have a "cleaner" paint job.

However, sometimes things are better left as hopes and dreams as opposed to realities.

I have no money, but I need to finish my 1000 point Orks.
The problem is, now I'm really starting to like the Grey Knights and witchhunter armies...Can you have a witchhunter and daemonhunter mix for an army?

Sure, use the ally rules in one book to bring in units from the other Inquisition dex. I've seen a unit of GKTs do wonders in a sister force.

Well, I don't really have a curse, but my friend has...1 model in particular. An elf ranger for his mordheim warband. After roughly 8 games it has yet to hit a model with shooting. The only time it ever took someone out of action was with a cc attack.
