Edit: And add Brother Jayne to the list

Edit: And we now have our next Marine. I've not far left to go.

Edit: Ok, here's a new one:

Edit: Here's the newest one. I've been pretty busy lately, so he wasn't posted as quickly as I would have liked.

Also, I've recruited one more Stunt Double:

Edit: Movie Marine conversions are now available from Garden Ninja Studios!

Movie Marine conversions can be used with the chapter unapproved Movie Space Marine rules by Games Workshop. Movie Marines are also ideal as force commanders for your approved Space Marine army.

Find out more about them here.

Edit: I'm going to put the finished marines into this post:

Edit: Added the second painted Marine

Ok, I am proud to announce that I finished the conversion work on my Movie Marines, and that I have some

I started this project with the intention of spending as much time and effort on these ten marines as someone would a normal sized 40k army. All faces (those not in helmets) are sculpted either in green or grey stuff (mostly, it depended on what was left over from my other sculpting projects for the day).

Also, I'll try to get pics of the razorback up soon.

And here's the sergeant. I did not get a picture of his green:

I'll be posting as I paint them up.

I really like the fifth one on the first post. I don't like the one in power armour with the terminator armour head though. Maybe its just my preference.

But overall they look great, something to be proud of!

Whats the next step for them? Painting one at a time?

A few look a bit ridiculous and that all comes down to how the bits look together.

I must say though, those are some kick ass conversions.

That's a fun project! I like what you've got so far. Will the armour match in colour, or will they be individuals in that way as well?

The sculpting and the overall work is awesome! Each marine is individual and most of the conversions are skillfully done and look great!

That said, I do think they could look better true-scaled as that would keep some of the conversion bits from getting clusterd, and the whole true-scale thing really emphasizes the individual greatness and power of each marine. But don't let that hold you back. Your figs are great any way you cut the pie.

Wow those look great! I agree with meph on the truescale-basically a must for movie marines

This can't be a complete squad. There is not enough, yelling, baldness, and no significant pointing. These are not Marines.

I do like them though. I agree the Terminator head looks odd with the tiny little hand.

I'll be painting them one by one, but I'm not sure how well I want them to match. They certainly won't all be in just blue though.

Everything here is from my bitz box. I actually had enough to do a tank from my bitz (although I traded for a few of the pieces). The only thing I bought for the army was a pack of Privateer Press bases.

It is a plastic chaos warrior, with some horns cut off.

I have the movie marines list from White Dwarf 300 (US version, I think they were in 301 in the UK). You can find the rules on the web if you do some searching. Just remember, this force has UNOFFICIAL (all caps) written on it in the WD.

Would it be illegal or whatever if I scanned my copy so that others can see?

Also, these are amazing conversions. Well done. Really well done.

odinsgrandson wrote:These are for the most part pretty good and are way better than anything I could do as I have the artistic ability of an otter. That having been said I think some of them do not look quite right. When I think movie marines I think of more heroic, dynamic poses, maybe something out of a John Woo movie or depicting a last stand, surrounded by enemies type pose. So I am not sure if that is what you captured or if that was even what you were going for.

This one the way his right hand is positioned looks like he throws like a girl and that grenade is going to just going to clear the wall he is standing behind and he has a great big noggin

I am not sure what this guy is doing other than struggling to hold up the ridiculously oversized gun/weapon thing and when seen from behind it lloks like the strain was too much and he lost control of his bowels.

Looks good except for the smoke launchers on the shoulders, I am not sure what those are intended to be. I think if he was firing or maybe running with a CCW upraise he would be more dynamic. He seems a bit closed up to be running.

I liked all of the others quite a bit although I think the 5th one with the Chaos Warrior helmet may be the best and most intimidating of the group. Again my prior comments are meant to be constructive and hoepfully not over-critical as they are all better than I can do. They may also be better to see once they are painted. All in all very nice work.

Thank you for the commentary and criticism.

I think some of the problems you mentioned will be fixed in the painting (certainly the bowel troubles, since that piece of cork board is part of the base and will look like a rock).

I was going for over the top. I'm honestly considering putting something else in the Terminator-helmeted one's hand (since the grenade isn't working so much for me either). Maybe a pistol or a second bolter will do.

The Smoke Launchers were meant to be very large and unorthodoxed vents, which I'm wondering if I should change. The trouble with them has been that everyone recognizes them as smoke launchers, and that just won't do.

Anyway, I'll make sure I have the last marine and the tank up soon.

Really?!?!

I think they look great. I especially like the guy with rocket launcher and huge backpack covered in bits. He looks awesome. So funny that with all that gear, its a bolter that he is aiming with!

Some of the sculpting on the heads is tremendous however I don't like the Terminator head the rest is great just the head looks absolutely wrong to me.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. In trying to fix the Terminator-headed one, I put a bolt pistol in his other hand instead of a grenade. It visually lengthens his arm, and I think this solves a lot of the problems with him looking deformed.

Of course, Termie heads were just never meant to be put upon those Mark 7 power armor shoulders. It is oversized, but I think I've concealed it enough at this point.

To me, the cloak looks like a hoodie, and especially with that chain around his neck, I imagine that he is the gangsta of the group. He looks funny to me, but I'm not sure it is in a bad way.

Oh, since the rules are up, I can also introduce my concept for the Stunt Doubles. I'll be using old GW plastic space marines (old enough to just look strange).

My first two will be:

The Second Edition box set space marine.

The Space Crusade space marine.

I could do a history of static plastic marines here. I found a very old plastic terminator (from back when terminators were one piece plastic minis) and I'll be painting him up as a third stunt double.

Now, where would the movie marines be without a trusty Razorback? I mean, those Lascannons are way too good to pass up, right?

And here is the last of the movie marines. Now all I have to do is paint them, right?
