November sounds about right, I should be finished (I better be finished ) sometime this week with the sculpting though. I have a few simple adjustments that I need to make, but my main goal is to make at least one mouth and the chain-saw club arm. I was planning on doing something with the stomach, but I will just be leaving it as is now, and I will modify it later if the model looks like it could use it; this means more magnet madness, YAY!!!
I still need to attain some form of rigid plastic though, I do not feel like working with huge sheets of quite expensive bulk plasti-card. I was actually astounded by the "bulk" prices around here, which were around 40$ U.S. for a 4x8 piece I believe. Not particularly expensive I know, but that rivals the price of OSB, even Plywood in some cases. Anyway... I will figure out what I need to do by Monday or so for the mechanical parts.

I know, when I first read the ETA I was like "November? But you're almost done as i-Oh right extra magnetic limbs."
And hey! At least you HAVE the option of Bulk Plasticard. I honestly don't know how the hardware stores around here make their money -_- No sculpting tools, no hot wire cutters, no plasticard, the list goes on
I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.
Thus the intuition does fly along side the dove; and into the fray, burning upon impact. Such a force it creates does merit the attention of the very present cosmos, the pure circle that continues refreshes my form and the nature under which I react.
I hope to memorize this, and what it may and/or already does entail on which I hold dear. Etc..etc...etc... and so one, and so forth do we continue, and so on.
It is a joke I suppose, but I had a of fun looking through the page with this music playing .

Wrexasaur wrote:Thanks CrashUSAR, I am pretty impressed that the GS guy can make SM models. You should ask him to put some stuff up on DakkaDakka, I am going to start working in a smaller scale soon.
My next big GS project will be a Slaanesh Titan, and I plan to make molds available to at least one company, I just have to do a bit more research into what is required.
do you mean a subjugator? if not check the datasheet on gw.com.
also I think the mould making kit is a serious investment. I use a small mould making kit and pewter and GS to copy special weapons (don't tell GW!) and it cost me 20 pounds. what it will cost to make a professional mould of a titan will be off the roof expensive (for me any way......). you'd have to make several moulds of individual pieces.
but thats just my prediction, i have had a look on google and found a mould making set but it was for jewelwry. there are alot ofmould making kits out there but i think that getting the detail out of something that large would be hard.
I will not be making molds myself, although the thought has crossed my mind. I would much rather have a professional company do it, but I may end up working that out with whatever company would like to produce the models.
This next project is going to be quite an undertaking, and I am switching it for my Wraithlord project which I just do not have the space for right now. I have some ideas bare-knuckle brain boxing right now, but I hesitate to start my conceptualization until the winner emerges .
I have put together a bit of a frame for the chain-saw arm. This is for reference only.
Still have not figured out how to put together the mouths, but once I get the materials I should get the first mouth-"mold" made in less than a few hours. Thinking seems to pay off a lot more than hair-thrashing my designs out ... I wonder why .
Anyway... here is a bit of an update. I would like to know what people's experiences have been with priming and painting GreenStuff, I would appreciate the input.

Hi Wrex
I use vaseline when using GS, and so for me I go through and wash it in warm soapy water before priming - which is probably a good idea anyway (especially with the amount of handling that it gets when making it to clean off the oil from your fingers anyway).
It then paints very well - no problems. Just like any other figure.
There are 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary, and those who don't.
My work in progress thread
What kind of primer do you use? I was thinking of trying out some of the Krylon auto-paints I have heard about working pretty well. Something sandable might be nice.
I may put the project up after adjusting the color to grayscale (black and white photos) so the green doesn't mess with the energy of the sculpt. I am actually starting to see green when I close my eyes, this happens every time I work with a new material... but GS is just so weird . I rather like seeing nothing but bricks when I closed my eyes for a few days, same with concrete, but this stuff looks like cartoon boogers .

I am planning on priming this in white, so I am glad to hear they work well. What specific type did you use, I think there are a few kinds. Not too sure about that though.
At some point this week I am going to have to make some time to go get some plasticard, or a similar material that I can use for the teeth and mechanical parts. I have been pondering whether I should put bionic toxin tanks on the shoulders; I would hook all of the tentacles into these tanks.
Something kinda like this... Wow, google hates me today, this is the closest I could find to what I am talking about. At some point I may trawl through deviantart so I can show you what I mean, but I highly doubt I will actually get around to it any time soon.
Wow... this looks really cool, I will have to take a look into it later. I am going to make the first mouth exactly like these, that is why it is funny that I found it.

I have added some detail to the chainsaw arm, and I have a few ideas for the chain. How have other people made chainswords? I am not sure I have seen all that many scratch-built here on Dakka. My plan was to try and do something with rubber, or to find a really small bike chain and mod it with teeth.
Anyway, here is the detail I added. I may add more, like tubes and a bit more texture.
Lol, I can barely understand that ... thanks though Papaskittels.
I have put together my beta-mouth (does that sound wrong ) so I can get this beasty all primed so I can start to get some painting tips ... yes I will definitely still be needing help with that .

Im not 100% sold on the beta-Mouth. It just doesnt feel.... menacing enough.
While I'm no sculptor anywhere near this caliber, Personally I'd go with more of a snarl. Have open space in the center of the ring of teeth.
Well thats my 2 cents... take it, leave it, ignore it In any case, great job!
I was actually thinking of adding a second row of teeth onto this mouth. I am not sure I want to make all those teeth for a shark mouth though. I am currently going cave-man on chopsticks with a buck knife, because I don't have a dremel with me right now.
At some point I will fully stock all the tools I could ever need, mainly a nice hobby saw, and a sanding wheel. Doing this by hand will end up giving me arthritis for sure .
For now I am planning on adding a rough row of around 12 large teeth that look like tusks. I was thinking of adding a bunch of horns because the texture is a bit imbalanced on the whole model, but I will just add a few sores here and there instead before priming. I hope I remember to make a tongue before I paint it... hmm, this gives me more options for MAGNET MADNESS!!!
Perhaps a relatively thin/small tongue wrapped around a guardsman/space marine/ork/necron/whatever to show its effectiveness of torture and killing. While still being nurgley of course.
I added some tusk-like mouth claws... I am not sure they work very well. If they turn out to look a bit odd, I will just shorten a couple or remove them to the tip so there will just be molar-like nubs. All in all the effect is actually pretty cool, and it offers a lot of opportunities to add crunched up guardsmen into this particular mouth. I think the tongue on this one will be holding half of a gaurdsman while the mouth munches on the rest. The tongue will be holding the leftovers to the side as if taunting it's prey. Hmmm... I think I may leave the tusks as they are come to think of it.
I adjusted the tusks a bit, and I am planning on adding some detailed gums and a bit of webbing at the base of the tusks. Like a bats wing, but more along the lines of a lion-fish fin.
I like em'! Hmm... I'm thinking you're not totally fond of em' because they're so bunched maybe? Could do a ring of them around the mouth but I think they look fine as is
I am pretty much finished seaming up the mouth. This pic isn't so great, but I don't have the time to put up more until later. Hopefully I will be able to get some pics with sunlight. I have decided to keep the mouth as it is, and I made a few very minor adjustments to the tusks. I'll still ad a tongue and some edibles.
