I am finally having fun with this model again after wrestling my magnets into place. Phew... they put up one hell of a fight. Have you ever super glued a magnet backwards? Anyway...

The magnets are a lot of fun, and I can imagine a million billion uses for the damn things if I ever run out of models to waste magnets on .

"Arm goes on, arm comes off, arm goes on, arm goes off, WHEEEE!!!"

Good times .

Here are some pics, feel free to ask questions, I am giving myself a crash-course in GS.

Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

I was at the shop today and pulled this up on a computer, EVERYone was impressed. Even the veteran modeller (who can make a sm out of GS) was impressed. I love it, they love it, that ol' bastard loves it.

Good job man.

If you need me, I'll be busy wiping the layers of dust off my dice.

Thanks CrashUSAR, I am pretty impressed that the GS guy can make SM models. You should ask him to put some stuff up on DakkaDakka, I am going to start working in a smaller scale soon.

My next big GS project will be a Slaanesh Titan, and I plan to make molds available to at least one company, I just have to do a bit more research into what is required.

I told him he should and he kinda shrugged...he's the definition of modest. I'll keep pestering him about it.

Yeah, now this is what I am talking about. Very Cthulhuesque. Keep up the good work.

I won't bother.

Thanks Vargtass (what does your name mean BTW?) I like the Cthulu designs but I haven't read much H.P. Lovecraft, and I most definitely should do.

Anyway, I have been finishing up the last bits on the connections, and I will start the tentacles and edibles ( ) after this. I am not planning the project at this stage, so feel free to point stuff out and comment.

I have decided to make the entire inner mouth magnetized, just because these magnets are way too much fun to mess around with. WHEEEE!!!
So what I'll do is clean the inner mouth up with some GS and make it as spherical as possible w/o wasting too much GS. Then I will add magnets in 1-2 places, probably smaller ones so it will be easier to change the mouths as well as set the magnets in general; these 1/4" magnets are a bit fussy to get nice and flat, I may have to re-set some of them later on. With the inner mouth magnetized I can prepare as many types of mouths that I want, and that is great because I had a lot of ideas and I kinda just forced myself into one; but now I don't have to! YAY!

Here are some photos of where I am at with it now. It may look like not much has happened recently, but the rate I can work with the details in GS is next to a snails pace. I would basically have to map out how I was going to use my vaseline to keep the magnetized pieces separate to go any faster, and that just isn't my style. If I can plan it I can learn while sculpting, kind of like going into a bare-knuckle fight with a bear, just remember to bring a flame-thrower . This philosophy cannot be applied to much more than sculpture and quite literally fighting, because dancing around like a butterfly just doesn't work for everyone and most fancy martial arts are provably ineffective... anyway... PHOTOS!

Looking awesome.

Love the subtle fat folds in the skin very muchly.

I have been having some trouble with the seams, especially around the neck. The GS just doesn't have the kick needed to keep a nice fit, I may have to get some Brown Kneadatite to make the seams nice and tight.

Anyway, here is a bit more progress on the back.

Nice! The overall effect and look of the creature is starting to emerge.

And it looks fierce, horrific, deeply unsettling.

In a word, daemonic.

Thanks Tinfoil, I am planning to add much more detail than I originally intended. As you said the effect is starting to take shape, and I plan to make this as "seamless" as possible overall.

Speaking of seams I reworked the neck a bit so it would sit really comfortably. I have figured out that when you are trying layer fresh GS on dried, you need to take a very long time to make sure they blend together nicely. That is my only real complaint so far, besides the fact that I just don't have enough room to set up a serious work station in my current place. If I had a choice I would just live in a workshop, it would solve a lot of problems .

Here is some more of the new detail. I hope I am not starting to bore anyone, this pace is what I will stay at for a while.

Can't wait to sit it all done up and painted too

Thanks Wolf.

I have been working on the skin, as well as doing a bit more work on the seams. I am adding some gills to the back of the neck, mainly because the seam is being really finicky, but I think it will end up looking quite cool. I will add 2 more gills for a total of 3 at the back of the neck.

Thanks yall'.

Here is the rest of the gills and a bit more work on the skin. I need to get some clay-shapers because I mistakenly picked up color-shapers, the difference is only in the rigidity as far as I know. Having a more rigid tip will allow me to seam up new layers, as I am having a particularly hard time doing so with the tools I have available now. Funny to note that although I can do pretty much anything I need with nothing but a large razor-blade, I simply will not be able to get the same level of crispness the proper set of tools can offer...

Thanks Tallmantim,

I have been working out the specifics for any mods I hope to add later, including:

- the socket for the mouth in order to provide a "mold" to create multiple magnetized styles.

- whether I actually need to add tentacles anywhere besides the stomach "socket".

- concepts for the "super-base" I intend to make, so the monster can represent it's class through it "full" size.

- magnetized "nurglings" that can be attached to the "super-base"

- a smaller magnetized "sub-arm" beneath the "whomping-big right arm" along with possibilities of multiple styles for "sub-arms" hand.

I am currently working on finishing the skin and seams up, which is actually taking me quite a long time due to my lack of proper tools and a decent work-space. Trust me when I say, most if not all work has been done in my hands, or right in front of my computer. This makes it quite hard for me to think, if not work, but I can easily counter that with a bit of patience. I have been hurting for a drafting-table for quite some time, but I simply do not have the space currently to add one right now.

Note to self... PLEASE get ACTUAL clay-shapers Wrex, they will make this much easier! . These color-shapers are just too rubbery, we need OOMPH!

"Sub-note"
The hand is beginning to bug me a little bit, I think it is a tad too large, and I am thinking of cleaning up the texture a bit. I may or may not cut and magnetize the hand itself so I can attach different styles, but this is looking like a nuke onto an ant in my minds eye . I am thinking of re-sculpting the thumb, mainly because it is visibly too large for the style I intended...

"listen to brain when brain say HEY"; advice from brain-sage Duncan the 3rd.
I saw this error when I was making the hand, but I was in too much of a conceptual phase to make any changes just yet.

Absolutely fantastic. To watch this go from sprue bits to the stage you're at now is simply amazing.

I'll be watching this thread with interest.

Thank you Natorum.

After having a fight with a few ideas (bare-knuckle brain-boxing ) I decided to leave the big hand as it is, and I will make a more suitable and possibly more pose-able arm in the future. This project will be primed in about a week or so, given the fact that I plan to mod it a bit later anyway.

Here is some more flesh down.

Thank you.

The Ork Trukk was just jammed in for now. Somewhere along the line I will figure out how to crunch up a few vehicles, then magnetize them so I can have options for the hand. My goal for the vehicles is to make them magnetized somehow so I can crunch them up and take them apart as needed. It is a bit hair-brained because I managed to get these vehicles for free, but I think it will be a fun project nonetheless.

I am quite sure this model cannot used in classic mold making, mainly due to the fact that I didn't intend for it to. I do intend to make another Apoc-demon when I manage to get a bit more free time; I will be making something Slaanesh, and I plan to make it to industry standard as soon as I can figure out what that would entail .
