We've been so busy working on our reseller program that we haven't had time to finish the Manticore podcast interview of our resin caster… That's because we're trying to do it nice and fancy, complete with images from the design stages and with a new resin test where our master caster tries hard to break one of the Manticore's wing and can't actually manage it because the resin is too good… We do intend to get this out ASAP, thanks for bearing with us…
However, we've just received great news from the foundry. The master cast you saw a few days ago has been used to create the production moulds which are currently in their final stages… This means that the first casts should be done by the week-end!!! We'll post new pictures as soon as they come in.
That's good, because if it takes more than a month and a half for them to ship it, I'll have moved back home for the summer. And that's kind of a problem if it gets to Lethbridge by time I'm in Calgary.
Great stuff. I have experience of how hard it is to get large production runs of quality resin, so am not overly bothered by the extra time. I can't wait to get my hands on mine though!

I'm quite sure RH feels the same way!
They've alluded to some of the "fun" involved in getting everything on this miniature together and in the works between the digital production, 3d printer, first round master print, touch-ups via traditional sculpting methods, creating finalized master, send master to the molder, molds produced and finalized, etc. They can't exactly do all of this in house and various steps are sent to different parts of Europe to be completed to produce the amazing product we are all expecting.
I'm sure they've dealt with far more hassle than they were anticipating, even considering past projects, but given the masterpiece that will be the final product I'm perfectly happy waiting (not so) patiently. Even further, it gives them that many more connections and experience for the next one!
I ordered the Manticore (with extra Lamassu/Lammasu head) the minute it was released - and ought to be one of the first on their shipment list. Still neither a miniature in my mail nor a note in my email on when it will ship.
Same with the new edition Asharah. Ordered it when released, no shipping info received.
I really need to get a notice of some kind when it's shipped, since if it ends up being too late, I'll need to change my address. I'll only be living where I am now for another month and a half. This is crucially important, and if it causes my order to be displaced in the long run, It'll definetly weigh heavily on my decisions to order from Raging Heroes again (despite how wonderfully amazing their sculpts may be).
Your situation is certainly understandable Fafnir, but you would likely be much better off emailing your concern directly to them. You could also include a date after which they should mail to your new address.

Not happy.
All Asharah Anniversary Edition are shipping within 2 days. However, if our ordered it with an item that is not currently in stock (such as the Manticore), it will not ship until both are available, as clearly stated in our FAQ. For 3€ flat rate shipping, I'm sure you can understand that we cannot make multiple shipments for the same order (although we did make an exception for the Holiday season, and sent many fractionned orders in multiple shipments).
It that is not the case for you, please send us an email directly.

Fafnir, I have received your email, and your address change will be duly noted on Monday, but please understand that we do not normally reply to customers over the weekend, as we try to use this time for creative rather than administrative pursuits.
And finally, we have another update on the Manticore coming up, along with a video which contains a 10 minute interview with our caster, as well as images of all the designs and production steps of the beast. Just waiting for the YouTube upload to finish (3 hours overall for the upload, now 2 hours left if the upload doesn't crash, in which case I'll have to start again).
Thanks you all for your patience, it will be worth it, I promise you.

Hi Magnus,
Yes indeed, unfortunately, Asharah 54 is out of stock, and the new resin caster is tied up with the Manticores right now. However, I have 2 left in my personal stock here in France, so what I'll do is send it to you from here, and I'll ask our UK packing and shipping service to send you Anniversary Asharah tomorrow.
We do try our best to keep our customers happy, and we are very sorry when we are unable to do so...
I thank you for your interest in our minis, it is very heart-warming.
OK, hopefully everything works out and everyone is happy, soon!

Yes, I am jealous of the fact that:
1) Your name is Magnus. IF I had a son, I told my wife I'd like to name him Magnus. I was told "no", and in the end it didn't matter as we had 2 daughters! I still think I would have won approval of Magnus as a middle name though!
Great.
Thanks for the fast reply and special service.
Suggestion for the future: - a simple email to customers regarding out of stock items and estimated shipping dates would probably help with relations.
Judging from my order numbers, RH receive about two-three orders a day - so updating waiting customers ought to be doable.
Keep up the good work.
Hope to see an upright legendary Kahn-Urkan in the future.
The Warhammer Dark Elf community is in desperate need for a suitable miniature for use as a Khaine statue (as terrain + each player needs a Cauldron of Blood - and the GW CoB statue sucks).

Good point. We'll try and implement that...

Edit: The video is up! It displays slightly larger on their blog here.
Raging_Heroes Blog wrote:Well there it is, the production moulds are all done. The first casts made from these moulds show that they work well and output very good pieces. But as we mentioned earlier, we are using a rather innovative technology for the production of this miniature, which has the effect of producing very large moulds. So, there are still some minor adjustments required to eliminate flash lines of on some parts.
To fix this, our caster needs to use another clamping system for the two parts of the mould and a more powerful pump. Ordering these new parts has further delayed for a few days the Manticore production.
To help you wait, we had promised you a podcast in which our caster explains his work on this project. We have turned this into a webcast by adding to his interview many visuals that show every stage of the Manticore / Lamassu project. Hope you enjoy it!

Really nice images, hope RH can post the sketches as high res images on their page.
Also, it is important to show good shots of beautifully painted minis - together with minis most people recognize (such as GW Dark Elves and classic Chaos Dwarves).
About the video: I expected to learn something regarding the process, but "our caster explain his work" is not really what the video is about.
Just a rather shallow interview with a caster keeping his "secrets" and just speaking of "experiments" and things he did not do...
To bad. Would have been nice to see some footage from the casting process.
Also - the resin seems really bendable. Not sure if this is a good thing - as harder materials tend to produce better detail.
Hopefully this will not effect the crispness (because we do want *really sharp* claws, teeth and stingers - not the dull plastic toy kind).

Someone sent you an email under my name?
This is actually fairly disturbing, as I havn't emailed you guys concerning a change in information yet (I have no reason to yet, I'm getting antsy right now, but I have no reason right yet to do so).
I'll be sending you an email from my email address shortly with my name and alternative shipping information (in case the casting is not done in time to have my model arrive by April 15) to ensure that there was no mixup, and that no one is using my name fraudulently (because obviously, that's a big issue for me).
The video is great, really reassures my hopes and shows the process of the creation of a beautiful model. Some of the concept artwork is absolutely amazing. Only problem is that it makes me want mine even more It's a shame GW never does anything like this with their products, the video was very informative and did a lot to hype me up for the model's release (assuming I wasn't already hyped up enough 3 months ago).
EDIT: I just sent the email. Hopefully this removes any confusion.

I thought the concept sketches at the beginning were the best part of the video, too! It was also very interesting to see that the first computer models were of the manticore in a "neutral" (standing on all 4's) position, and then the incredible posing came after.
It's so different, comparing the static pose with the final pose. It looks so much bigger and intimidating in the final pose that it's rediculous. It just goes to show how much simple posing can do for the look of a model.
That is one gorgeous sculpt and would love to see it at my FLGS....they are getting my support!
4250 points of Blood Angels goodness, sweet and silky W12-L6-D4
1000 points of Teil-Shan (my own scheme) Eldar Craftworld in progress 800 points of unassembled Urban themed Imperial Guard 650 points of my do-it-yourself Tempest Guard 675 points of Commoraghs finest!

Just looked closer at the RH images...
- and got worried that the (mastering/casting) process somehow ruined some of the detail...
Look at the claws in this comparison:
Hopefully this is just bad images playing tricks with my mind.
Having "soft" detail would really take away much of the feel from this model.
I got an email earlier last week saying that they'd be sending it out late last week or early this week. Depending on where you live, I'd expect a week or two for shipping, give or take for customs.
Fafnir, could you copy the text of that email here? I did not see such an email. My last email is from February 9th, which says something similar, so maybe that's the one you're thinking of?
Raging Heroes email on February 9th wrote:Hello,
This email is to update to you on your Manticore / Lamassu pre-order.
We have just posted a blog entry (http://www.ragingheroes.com/blogs/news) where we show the very first photos of the cast miniature.
The casting process has been slower than planned as the master caster has chosen to revise his entire pipeline to accommodate the quantities required for this piece, so he is behind schedule. However, we think you will be pleased with the results. He tells us that he expects to have the production moulds ready by the end of this week, and the first 50 casts out in the middle of next week, barring any problems. We have prepared an interview with him about this, which will be posted on the blog in the next few days as well.
We will continue to keep you updated via the blog. If you have any question or concerns regarding your order, please do not hesitate to write us at contact@ragingheroes.fr
Thanking you for your continuing patience,
Best regards,

I'm just curious if another email went out about shipping, and I didn't get it... I would love to hear any update regarding when they expect to ship at this point.

This email is to say that your second shipping address has been taken into account. However it seems that we won't need it, we will begin to send manticores orders at the end of this week or the beginning of next week.
