lol imaginative pipe meterials , the sniper looks epic it would take a gun that size to reach the ground . they look very steampunk , your crew is really shaping up into something special

as my wife is sewing clothings for the family spent reals of thread wander instantly into my bits box for terrain and guns...
i never thought about putting the sniper ON the airship. thought about him more in terms of ground warfare... but that has a certain ring to it to have him picking targets from up there... like the hand of god. thats something most snipers think of themselfs anyway...

and dont we all aim to be and make something special...

Hi Vik, looks good! The pipes came out pretty much the way I suggested that they would. Nice selection of soldiers to fit the theme of the airship!

and plenty will join their ranks. i am now massing the ranks and i think i will do a group shot of things to come in the next week...that will be a sight...guess i´m about 60 or more footsoldiers...sheesh...seems i am more than willing to keep my plate always filled to the fullest...

Drew up some concepts for myself here..

if your doing that your airship will be at least twice as big as mine...totaly go for it...just remeber: bigger is most time better^^

concept looks good to go, i lkie the last sketch, looks really good but way to clean for goblins.

I think i have this lascannon mate , on one of the kids dreadnoughts , its a bit too modern for what i require, thanks anyway though mate , i think i found one on ebay for £ 1 plus p&p or £5 with an old Ig trooper i used to have , maybe the other half will be so kind as to get me another early crimbo present !

should i cross fingers or will you rely on hope that santa has you in his goode olde booke of nice boyes?

No your right not a single lascannon a double , just look similar, Love your Guards , proper old school, just what i am looking for , plastic with big long rifles , DRAT!! jk , gonna have to keep my eyes peeled for more these beauties. you got a reall good deal there!
In other news the guards men youy linked me to , went for a good price also, but the were the same as the ones i am already getting from a fellow dakkite ! so many minis not enough money lol.

model a pylon...

Here are a few pics of steampunk costumes that my buddy took at Dragon Con over the summer. Figured this thread would be a good place to put em.

at agro, if i had an airbrush i would definatly meddly with steampunk 1:1 weapons. i just love the look of a gatling gun...

for now i havnet thought any further than that this airship will be a kind of floating terrain piece...

and to neil, well fluff, i will probably think hard , really hard about writing some stuff for that ship and the whole universe of quenie vikky... but i´m a bit afraid to post long texts here on dakka with my crappy english knowledge to all those many native writers here...


anyway now to some things more basic:

i´ve done some (forme anyways) important work for the boiler...
built a hatch from an old fotocapsule and some legos and some binders for cables...

after that there will be a boring long work of riveting that thing up. after that i want to try out neils idea with puched cardboard to mimik gridded steel...

so here are the pics:

total view of hatch and front of boiler, this will be a very intesive area to rivet around...

detail view of the hatch, in the flesh it is level to the ground and not so cocked...expect a lot of brass here^^


and the backside of the boiler with some lego based stop cocks made from steering wheels^^



at least from the backside there will be a pipe coming out to fuel the engines on the deck...and also the engine for the massive soon to be made proppeller to get propulsion into the airship...

reinforcing bars? could you help with that, cant picture it for now...also how would you suggest doingh boltplates? do you mean something a slighly bit going into the orky direction?

as soon as i saw the last pic i thought dials too...and levers. defiantly needs some more or less usefull levers...

if i think about the work ahead i think a nic scratch build baneblade would ahve been easier??? well mory boxy i guess and wouldn´t have taken the whole living room to built it...

had a package in the mail today. got 40! heads from secrets of world war two. soupplate gasmasked helmets for british soldiers, thought behind it is to paint the helmets white and have them a s a stand in modern version of the pith helmet...
hwat do you think? i know they´re a bit on the smaler scale but when painted i´m banking of not finding out...

Boiler looking good there Vik, what it really needs is a good selection of dials and gauges for the engineers to point at and tap

Heads sound interesting, think they'll work fine.
