Subject: Ishkatar's Imaginarium: SM with MINIGUN and other nonsense. 02/27 Upd: The Implacable Skitarii!
I think I'll add few more wires on the base to make this cable in the middle feel not so lonely, and here we go!
I also will bulk up those shoes even more!
they are truly something new...definatly interesting... tho i have to say they verge a bit on the odd... a bit of a stain from papa nurgle it looks to me... if a bit bigger maybe they could go as some sort of jetpack engines...maybe even something boba fet would have used...

@El Vic:
On a second thought, I decided to remove those vents and redo the shins anew. Though I like the idea, in this case such things looks wierd and way too bulky - I have to put more efford in the concept...
Yeah, thanks!
Personally I think, that the cape thingie fits the model better, then shoulderpads, than again, shoulderpads are always cool... Sigh...
@RW:
Thank you, sir!
His current shoes are just a basis for future details, so they will be a bit longer.
i think you made the right decision... fluffwise i the jetknees^^ would have been a bit too much i think... also everybody knows that jetpacks and capes don´t go together that well^^

@El Vic: Aye, no one wants to get a burning cape on their back Anyway, I've revamped the shins and I like the new version much more.
@Mwnciboo: Quite an interesting mention... Actually I'm thinking about making a plain armored model (something like a dummy) after finishing this one and try to cast it.

I've came up with a new concept of the base, remade shins and finished his kickers... Pose-wise the new plinth fits much better, also it's rather simple and industrial. Now I just need to add some details... I'm thinking about that crack in the center - what should I place in there? A sceleton of poor fella, who tried to crawl out from the ancient trap? A build-in LED? Hmmm... A tentacles!?

legs are looking better´n´better every time you update!!! the new base have lots of more scenic potential than the former... i think i like the LED idea but i am at a loss s to how to do it properly... also i have thought after seeing your new base... maybe you could have done a cracked pavement base... like when the hulk lands...around his feet you have the cracked pavement...

Do not paint this. Get a production line going to make copies of him, they will sell.

You want the extra groin protection! Even if you don't need it, just knowing it can take a missile and you won't feel it will give you peace of mind in combat! If you don't have it, every time a small bullet comes close to your groin, you are going to wince in anticipated pain, and that could be disasterous!
@El Vic:
Aye, it's quite a nice idea, though not for this particular miniature, since the character suppose to be standing still and focusing his powers on someone afar. I'm thinking more and more about placing there a sceleton of a guy, who tried to crawl out from the deadly trap of closing leafs in the floor, and, well, been crushed - something is needed to fill this empty area in front of the figure!
I'll keep the idea in mind anyway, if not for this guy, but may be for some other project in future.
@RW:
Thanks!
@gendoikari87:
Well, it depends on the final result... Casting my own miniatures is something beyond my dreams! But I had a nice chat with good fallas from my local hobby store on that matter today, so it's highly possible.
@Chemical Cutthroat:
Cheers!
You know, an extra groin protection is never too much with those pesky Smugglers around! Jokes aside, there will be much more details, fixes and changes, I guess... The sculpture is in pretty basic shape yet.
@Legion of Damnation:
Thank you!
There's a lot work to be done... And a lot of Skyrim lands to discover, quests to complete and dragons to kill! Currently I have a little break from the game, but maaaan, it was hard to lift my ass from the couche and put the X-box controller aside...
@RSJ:
You tell 'em, bro!
Alright, sorry, no pics today. I've finished the coat, but some polishing and fixes had to be done...
Stay tuned, my fellow Dakkanauts! More stuff coming soon!
PS:
A little clarification on the comment of Chemical Cutthroat and for those, who might wonder about what smugglers had to do with groins:
I've finished the coat, remade the toes and codpiece. The codpiece requires some additional detalization, also I've missed one little detail on the feets, but other than that I consider the torso to be almost complete and I'm very proud with the results. So, now to the hardest part: head and hands! I've already started to work with the head, but I struggle with the weapon concept for his left hand yet... What should it be? A sword of some kind? A pikestaff? A power maul? Questions, questions...
Also I've started a little side project, slightly unusual and even offtopic for this board:
This great miniature by Tale of War will be a present for my friend's wife for her birthday. I've added a belt on the hat for more classic witchy look and trying to sculpt a cat as another classic element. Along with painting I have to make some kind of a proper plinth to get more dioramish appearance of the model. The cat already do well as a part of base decoration, but I have to add something else... Cobblestones and street light, probabbly. By the way, I think this model can be wonderful basis for a female Inquisitor conversion!
And a shot for scale comparison:

the coat is looking so fine! very well done my friend! with that collar he even gets a slight medival air to him...
he is looking totaly menacing...a powerhouse...
the weapon issue...now that is a true toughy...everything you mentioned is very good... for some reason i get a certain darth maul vibe... so if i am asked for my weapon of choice i say either two lightsabers...or one doublebladed lightstaff thingy... or for that matter something like that only done as a powerweapon:
lighteffect would be then in a slight purple to pink i think...
as for that witch...i can´t see how this could be off topic... in no way... looking delicious already! the cat will be a nice addition! and well...i like tales of war stuff... if i am not mistaken they had an alice of resident evil earlier in their range... which is in my collection...very fragil stuff if i remeber correctly... and i think with the right plinth it will be a gem! i would reconsider the cobblestone tho...how about you sculpt some wooden florboards? or maybe some other cottage related floor?
by the way... i think now too...that you should find someone to cast this model of yours... i could see multiple versions for this one... liek a wolverine version...with two poerclaws and so on... the pose is simply too great to have just one time^^
I dunno, I'm getting a sort of bushido feel to the weapon positioning. Like the sword in the right arm, pointing across the body running parallel towards the outstretched left hand. A duelist sort of feel to the stance. I have a preference for swords... and this would be a great excuse to model a really awesome Sith Alchemical Sword.
Unless that's not Sith enough, then go with some wicked looking energy maul of some kind and him making a crushing gesture with his other hand.

Subject: Ishkatar's Imaginarium: SM with MINIGUN and other nonsense. 03/6 My very first miniature sculpting!
Since the concept was based on the Sith Warrior stance, a sword should suit well. And a sword I wanted to make - some sort of a plasma cutter, fueled through the cable, going from the gas cylinder on his waist. Very much like protosaber:
But I'm thinking about some other options, like a glaive.
Okay, I'll sculpt the hand holding a long rod and then will see...
@El Vic:
The guys in the Hobby store told me it's nearly impossible to get a quality cast from a GS master-model, so I will have to make a first molding only for polishing in order to get a proper dummy for further production... Though I should dig more on that matter. Casting sounds like a fun... And a lot of a problems I also like the idea of different weapon options! I should do that, if I will be able to cast the miniature.
Indeed, the Tale of War miniatures are great! Though I totally hate to work with metallic stuff and those babies are damn costy in my local store...
I'm not sure about the wooden floor for the Witch, but I like the cobblestone paving, like she just have landed on the alley of some small town to show their new hunting ground to her skull-friend Hmm, maybe it can be a tiled roof.
I found those fotos through the Google, using the "protosaber" tag. Here's another, a rather funny one:
Speaking of the posing... Aye, that's what I'm basicly aiming for, as I stated before, though the left hand supposed to be in other position... But with different weapon choices I can make a couple of variations of the pose. Here I made an example to get a right feel of hands and head scale for further sculpting:
The left knife on this photo should be rotated a bit to be more parallel with the earth, like he's preparing to parry an incoming attack, yet, it's not a big deal, since it's not a purpose of this picture anyway.
Also, here's the head on stick:
It's a basic shape with some details thrown in, but more things should be done. The sculpt is very close to the DE's heads size.
PS: By the way, I just realized, that March is some kind of an aniversary of my hobby "carier" So, yes, it's a whole one year as I got sucked deep into it. And even though I still don't have an army, I consider the year was quite productive.

i probably had an army by now since i started...if i could see through batchpainting...which in fact i can´t^^ maybe even more than just one^^
the head onastick...will it get hair or will you leave it bald? mask looks quite convincing already...you really have the hands and eyes for making these geometrical forms work!
the mockups look very good... specially like the small energy canister you have with that hose/cable...i seem to recognize the bit you used...but for now i am not able to say where....? might need to copy that idea on future projects^^
ups...i think i totally went into that google trap by myself... hehe^^
and well...happy aniversary i say...even if it only means that you have a date to refer to when total madness started... following generations may celebrate it...^^
The head will be hooded. I will add just a few more details on the mask and consider it done. Maybe I should make a few variations...
By the way, the mask is based on the super-cool Ranger Armor from FO: New Vegas (in fact, this design had a strong impact on my sculping along with SW:tOR and some other stuff):
In case with GS, I have to say that geometrical forms are much easier to work with.
The energy canister was sawed off the standard Meltagun. Copy at will!
Aye, cheers! In fact this date means almost nothing, but just a funny note to self.
ah i see...and a good inspiration at that! ...for the melta bit...i think that screems for a pressmould deed for the first time^^
and yep...one has to master geometrical shapes always first... tho i couldn´t picture myself ever doing some organic looking shapes above fur and hair tho^^
You can't wear that armor without feeling like a complete badass. The only way it would be better is if it had a floppy sort of Clint Eastwood style cowboy hat.
Besides that, I imagine he'd be bald... since I have a helluva time imagining any Sith chap with hair. I think baldness is a side effect of all the Lightning.
Except for Count Dooku... because he has to look pimp and in charge at all time... and you can't do that without a perfect beard.
