From Wolf's_Bane
Hi all folks!!
I've been in GD Spain this morning. I've been in a presentation made by Robin Cruddace, the new Imperial Guard codex writer.
In that presentation, he told about the new things in 40K / fantasy (even a Bloodbowl miniature new launch) until Agoust.
After the presentation, a man from the public ask him about Wolfs. He didn't wanted to say a word about the date launching but what he did tell, was they are working not only in Wolfs but in Blood Angels and Black Templars together other codexes.
After the presentation, I asked him personally about the progress level of the Dark Eldar. It was in that moment when I begun to cry. He told me Jess didn't finish his work, so IF the push them into production right now, AT LEAST, they are a year far.
Before leveling up hopes, he didn't told me anything about the progress level or even a possible date on Blood Angels, Dark Templars, etc.
I didn't asked him directlly, but he didn't mention anything about Grey Knights.
So, in a summary way ... he told about
1. Dark Eldar. At least one year from now. Probably more.
2. Bood Angels / Black Templar. In works right now.
3. Wolfs. Codex finished, send to some translators. (this one didn't told me him)
4. Necron and Tyranids in works.
5. Legion Codexes. They have talk about them, but with no result. Not on the planning.
6. Legend & Heraldry of Imperial Guard. Maybe if the new book for Imperium Legend & Heraldry has good acceptance.
I think I'm not forgotting anything.
From Hoarmurel:
Hello
More things from friends that have been in the GD:
In the conference (?) with Robin Cruddace this was told:
- They are working right now in all the old codexes, its release date will depends on the number of new models they must make.
- They will release all the unique Space marine chapters like the BA.
- About the chaos legions codex, he said that the games designers have been discussing it long time, but they cannot agree in the way of make one or more codex and other details.
- The traitors and renegades of chaos: Robin said that those armies could fit well in the new IG codex, they don't release any codex for them, but could appear some articles about it in the WD.
- For the medium-old codex (like eldar) where a new codex will take a lot of time to be released, GW will launch new models before that, at least to make the wait less time.
I've attached another pic of the New hellhound (see below).
More photographs of the GD can be seen in the next linK:

Cheers!

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal. |

So GW's main plan , is to have anyone that bought the AOBR set , expand their marines into full SM armies with all these new codex.
Makes sense i guess.

While I find this to be a bummer as WH player, I'll reiterate this to everyone.
GW is admitting to trying to move completely to plastic models. They're saying they will be releasing new codex's based on how many new models the army needs.
This is why all the SM are getting their codex now. Their books can be released fast since not many new plastics need to be made.
It sounds lame, but if you really read into it they're saying every codex is being worked on, and will come out once they have the ability to support it with new models. Maybe this isn't the worst thing.

Yes! Oh my god! I can't fething believe it, more Space Marines! Just what I and everyone else wanted! FOR THE EMPRAH! SPESS MAHREENZ!!!11 SPESS MAHREEEEENZ!!!!!
GW to Dark Eldar fans: "feth you. Here's something else to cry about, go cut yourself with your splinter rifles and overdose on combat drugs. lololol"
...now that I'm done having my little mental breakdown, seriously, what in the hell is wrong with you? Three more Marine codices? Three? Not only that but Dark Eldar aren't even done yet? You've supposedly been working on them for years now, you churn out Marine updates like it's nothing so how long could it possibly take to get an army updated? Not only that, but no Tau, either, and seeing as how I'm busting my balls off just to pull off a tie with my worthless 3rd edition rehash codex, I'm seriously considering whether or not GW really deserves any more of my money for the foreseeable future. They fethed my army over with 5th edition, they're overpowering the crap out of everyone else and making it even harder for me to compete, and they're even talking about doing more god-damned Chaos crap before Tau even get a mention?
That new elf army Privateer Press is putting out for Warmachine looks interesting, I might get into that. In any case I'm fething done with GW now, my Tau are hitting the shelf. I'm tired of this crap.
Here's what I have to say about "infantile whining": SPESS MAHREENZ!

K. Enjoy whatever gaming you come across. But when whatever company you choose to support doesn't do things 'just the way you want them', you'll always be welcome back here.
Just because they are working on 2 marine dexes doesn't mean they are going to release them one after another, Did everyone miss the part where they said that they were working on nids and necrons as well?
Looks like space wolves will be the last 40k release this year outside of 'second wave models' I have a hunch that the next codex we will see will be tyranids. After that possibly one of those two space marine codexes, probably blood angels, and then either dark eldar or necrons. That would mean that there would be only a single imperial codex release in that year. The following year, 2011 will probably see the other space marine book come out, along with two other codex releases, possibly being one or both of the inquisition books, and either the necron book or the dark eldar.
And keep in mind that in the other 40k release months when a new dex isn't getting rolled out, they will be continuing with their new wave system. That means new eldar models, new tau models, new demon models. There have been way worse years for Xenos in my relatively short span as a tabletop gamer. This new release system they've got and all of these great expansion that are getting support is really making it a great time to be playing any army really.
You are free to disagree, overreacting is also an option.

I have to see it to believe it. GW has made promises before and not followed through with them (ask Dark Eldar players. "They're coming guys, honest this time! *snicker*"...), so excuse me for having doubts.
If Tau aren't getting new rules then I'd love to at least get a kit or two, maybe plastic pathfinders, a new battlesuit or plastic broadsides even...if they want to get rid of hybrid kits so bad there's a good one right there, replace it with a plastic version of the FW broadside and you could make your money back on the molds pretty quick I'd imagine. How about a bitz pack, there are a lot of vehicle upgrades and wargear for Tau that don't actually have bits for them, I'd love to have actual disruption pods, flechette dischargers, or targeting arrays to model on my tanks. I dunno, I just want SOMETHING ffs, a kit or two that says "We haven't forgotten about you yet", or a get-you-by codex in White Dwarf that fixes the problems with useless wargear and adjusts points costs on stuff maybe (are BS3 fire warriors really worth that much, and how come devilfish are so expensive)? Putting rules in White Dwarf again would be a good reason to start buying it, it's not worth $9 otherwise.
But anyway, yeah, I'm a cynical son of a bitch so unless someone like Brimstone says there's going to be a Tau goody here or there, or it's in the next GW newsletter, I'm calling bs on it, naturally.
K. Enjoy whatever gaming you come across. But when whatever company you choose to support doesn't do things 'just the way you want them', you'll always be welcome back here.
First of all, if anyone doubts me I've already quit buying from GW. I got a broadside model as a gift recently, but other than that and the odds and ends I've gotten from eBay/used at the FLGS (mostly bits), nothing. I don't even buy from discounters or eBay stores (which they're clamping down on anyway) because I don't want another dime going directly to GW. So if you think it's all talk you're mistaken.
Second, what do you mean "here", do I have to leave Dakka if I get frustrated and shelve my Tau?
Third, as for doing things "just the way I want them", am I really asking for that much in the first place? All I want is my army to be up to date and capable of standing up to every other codex, I just want to be on the same level as everyone else and stand a chance of winning games. I'd also like for them to keep their promises and prove that they're actually working on DE this time, seriously...show us one model, show us one sample page from the codex that's supposedly being written up (unless they wait and do that at the last minute like I've always suspected), anything. There's no reason for them to be so damn secretive about it.

It's just that Marines get a Codex every edition which frankly covers probably more than two thirds of the Chapters.
I understand that they're GW's flagship but frankly it gets boring. It's so many Marines, in fact, that any other codex is measured by it's ability to kill Marines. If it doesn't, it's a fail.
Not to mention the number of kits that haven't gotten the atention the Marines have had: additional sprues in the Tac Squad, covering stuff like special weapons, etc.
Not that I care that much, anyway.

Something missing from this is that the Dark Eldar are basically on a release schedule based on how fast Jes Goodwin can sculpt the new models. So Jes finishing + 1 year for production logistics + fitting it into the schedule around whatever else is ready.
If I recall correctly, Phil Kelly pretty much finished the Codex work, but since it is on such a long timeline it is all subject to change as it only has to go to the printers three months in advance.
Anyways, is it just me, or is all the whining half-hearted?

Of course, the flip side of that is probably that Jes' Dark Eldar work keeps getting "interrupted" by the need to churn out models that might actually help GW to stay in business.
That is, over the past 2 or 3 years, if it were a priority, then Jes could have finished the Dark Eldar range. But Jes wasn't able to because his time was deemed to be better off spent elsewhere, on other projects.
OTOH, I guess, if if GW needed to rush Dark Eldar out the door, they could always farm the sculpting back to Gary Morley and have *him* squeeze them out...

I would imagine a broadside plastic kit is coming soon. GW's intention is to target and remove all metal plastic hybrids, then follow that up with all metal units being made into plastic. That model would probably come as part of a 'tau second wave'. This wave would likely include another plastic kit or two. That will be fun when it happens, if it happens before they get a codex update.
Sidstyler wrote:First of all, if anyone doubts me I've already quit buying from GW. Don't misinterpret my response as doubtful. I am sure you've quit. I'm equally sure that any other miniature gaming company won't live up to their perfect image. If you truly loved the background and the models of warhammer 40,000. You will be back.
Sidstyler wrote:Second, what do you mean "here", do I have to leave Dakka if I get frustrated and shelve my Tau?
I just realized we are in the news and rumors section. I would hope you wouldn't post in the 40k section once you've 'walked away'

I hate to say it, but I think you are asking for too much. You keep mentioning tau in your post. I'm going to assume you only play tau. Tau represent just 1/16th of the number of armies currently supported by GW. They aren't even in the imperial force, which is the narrative center of the background. What it seems like you want is for a company that is publicly traded to funnel more than 1/16th of its attention to a an army that is not central to their branding and IP, and is only one of MANY armies. I'd advocate starting a new army, one that is far away from tau in the development cycle. It will be much easier for GW to reach you with new releases, and keep you getting new stuff if you made yourself more available to them. If you can't stand anything but tau. Nothing else is even remotely interesting to you, then you are not going to be a member of a demographic that GW has any motivation to appease.
As far as the competitiveness of Tau... Tau are in great shape in the current 5th edition environment. With mechanized armies taking the forefront on the heels of the new IG codex, tau hasn't been this competitive since their release. There are plenty of informative threads here on dakka from lots of different players that are finding success.
Sidstyler wrote: I'd also like for them to keep their promises and prove that they're actually working on DE this time, seriously...show us one model, show us one sample page from the codex that's supposedly being written up (unless they wait and do that at the last minute like I've always suspected), anything. I'd like to see stuff too. This is just an unfortunate facet of large companies like this. Everything they are currently working on is subject to change. Every model Jess is sculpting could potentially not be approved for production, for whatever reason. If that happens, and they've already shown the model, there will be outrage. Same goes for the rulebook. Every page of that dex is subject to revision, showing unpolished unapproved, unlocked product to consumers has never been a model for any company. I wish companies would give us all more credit for being able to understand that this isn't finished stuff. But you won't be able to find what you are looking for at any competing company.
I don't have any personal motivation for trying to keep you in the hobby or to chase you out. I don't even know you. But I feel that you are holding GW up to standards that it can't, and shouldn't have to, maintain.
