So when a drones disembark from a vehicle they form a unit and a kill point. On that part I'm totally clear. Now what about their classification when they disembark. Like do drones disembarking from a devilfish that was bought for fire warriors count as troops? I can't find anything that says one way or the other but since it was bought as a troop i'd assume they could score. Making a devilfish capable of scoring if the drones were still attached. Thoughts? Am I wrong?

I don't have the Tau codex with me, but I have a friend who plays Tau and iirc there's some rule that prevents drones from counting as scoring.

Page 30, Tau Empire codex. They cannot ever count as Scoring

Coolio, missed it But even if they don't count as scoring which is what I figured do they still count as their selection choice for the purposes of those weird kill point scenarios? Such as last years Ard Boyz where fast attacks were worth 2?

I ran into this before; Drones count as fast attack - including drone units disembarking from a devilfish.

If you're worried about killpoints, something to consider would be to let the drones die or stay embarked. As for last year's 'Ard Boyz, I thought the rule was that if you didn't HAVE one of the selections, the opponent got an automatic 2 killpoints instead of fast attack counting as 2 killpoints?

IE, if you didn't have any fast attack, or any heavy support options (etc) then the enemy got 2 free killpoints.

You told me previous about your two vendettas and how they had their cover ignoring ordnance rounds....

Elsewhere in here there was a thread discussing that; apparently ordnance is not the same as ordnance blast, which would mean that the Hellfire missiles aren't actually ordnance blast.

It might have been the Eradicator that ignores cover and is a large blast. I do have a few of them and was considering using them in my guard army when we talked so maybe that was it?

They are a Fast attack unit but they are part of the Troop choice that the Devil fish came with. So your Firewarrior squad, Devilfish and gun drones (even after they disembarked) are part of the One troop choice. If the Devil fish came with pathfinders then they are all part of the fast attack choice.

I see nothing in the rules that would make disembarked drones count as Fast Attack units.

Yes. If the drones disembark (which they automaticly do when the DF is killed). I use them for weapon destroyed rolls since they fire as the vehicle they are a vehicle weapon. They are not a kill point untill they disembark.

You can forget this whole mess and take smart missiles which are much more useful.

No no. Bad Tau. *Rolls up codex like a newspaper and whacks VoxDei* Unroll it and read it again, drones may fire as part of the vehicle, but are not a part of the vehicle.
