Ok Dakka , i need your brain muscle for dealing with a guy. He is basically whinning and moaning about these new cheap starter sets
GW made to jump start new players .

He is saying:

-The set doesnt provide the units he likes , or he finds useful in his list.
-Every new player is almost guaranteed to buy a starter set because its so cheap ( and even more if they are Marine / Ork player ) , thus he can come up with a list to easily counter / beat these starter armies in 5 mins.
-They only come with simple 2 piece snap fit minis ( not the usual kit type )

There you go guys , personally im too tired to deal / argue / or even attempt to reason with him.
So maybe you can leave your comments here and i'll just point this thread to him -_-

I dread to think...

Make him change his army list. And then ignore him. Or tell him to NOT BUY THE DAMN THING.

The set helps people start out with the game.

Ok then.

So Night Goblins, Cannons, Shamans, Tactical Squads, Ork Boyz, Captains, I take it he doesn't field these obviously vital units?

Go tell him to soak his head.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

So far i basically told him:

Its true it might not have the units YOU want , but how is company supposed to tailor to everyone's preference.

Why not take the core units as it is ( and the set been so cheap) , take the rest of the box AS IF ITS FOR FREE , and stop moaning!

Ask him what he would put in a starter set. Then repeat his arguments verbatim back to him no matter how reasonable his choices are until he gets it.

If he is putting serious thought about into how easy it is to beat noobs then maybe he does not have the most "balanced" frame of mind. I say ignore him and let the "bitterness Red Giant" burning at his core to collapse and suck him into the ranks of former players.

O H I am in the Webway...

Tell him that he's an idiot and he doesn't have to buy it and why should GW tailor to a random a$$hat. If he is still arguing then ignore him or flame him.

Also, it's a starter set and truthfully it comes with a lot of essential that a lot of players like. Ork players love that cheap acess the boys and with my deathwing I loved the cheap terminators. It's a GREAT starter set.

K i have "questioned" his personality and character for him to make list just to beat these new players. But that came out as me flaming him, no good ><

K say hegoes on different multi war gaming board , where GW product are not the most dominant game discussed or played .
And he goes off trying to spread his "words" like this for example to the new war gamers that want to give warhammer a try.

We would think he is trolling? because his ideas are beyond silly. Then when we alert mods to the trolling , the mods responded "well its his opinion , and as
long as he expresses it fairly , we dont see it as an issue of trolling "

Meh, just ignore him. He's just another unfortunate spawn of TFG and he'll exclude himself soon enough. I imagine you were cordial enough with him, but some people just can't be happy and he sounds like one of those people.

Good luck dealing with him though.

A new day, a new time zone.

The Dungeons and Dragons solution, as well as the easiest, would be to kill him and take his stuff.

Failing that, take the last panel of this comic and glue it to his face.

You sweat the silliest things Luna. You've got to just ignore this type of stuff. If you're on another forum where he's trying to convince players not to buy the starter set because he doesn't like the models then just let them know why he's wrong. I'd just let everyone do the math:

10 ork boyz boxed set - $22
Deffkopta - Not even available except in the starter set
5 Nobs boxed set - $25
Warboss - $17 (they don't even make a PK warboss model outside of the boxed set)
10 man tactical squad - $35
5 terminators - $50
Dreadnaught - $41.25
Space Marine Captain - $17.00
Official Rulebook - $50

Not to mention the templates, dice, etc that you need to play the game. You can concede the point that the boxed sets are much more customizable but make sure you mention that not only do you get everything you need to play the game but the models in the starter set are armed in such a way that they'll fit into just about any army so you'll probably keep using them forever. If he's actually such a dirtbag that he'd use the argument that he could easily build an army that counters what comes in the starter set then just point out that very few people have such small penises that they feel the need to inflate themselves by building a cutthroat army specifically designed to smash newbs.

I tried to be polite but sort of ran out of patience . Every point i bring up he dismiss it simply by replying " more of the fan boi / girl reasonings " so i reply to that by "well your moaning and biching sounds like
disgrunted wife of a bad marriage "

If he's in your store tell whoever is working that they are losing sales because of him. Also beating up brand new noobs disheartens them and also loses sales. I bet he stops if he's threatened with banishment from the game store.

Just ignore the little spanker, and warn all of your mates what he is up to. It shouldn't take very long for the gamers in your area to get his number, refuse to play against him and run him off/convince him to keep his lop-sided opinion to himself. If that doesn't work, plant a battle axe in the middle of his forehead and call it a day, knowing that you took another TFG out of the gaming world, thus making it a more pleasant place to play with little army guys!

Black Reach is useful because almost every Space Marine army uses Dreadnoughts and Tactical Squads, almost every Ork army uses Slugga Boyz and Warbosses, and Black Reach provides interesting variant models for these selections at an extremely cheap price. The mini-rulebooks are also highly convenient, especially at tournaments.

First, call him a damn fool for not seeing the value of $200+ box of models.

At the very least he can trade the squads he doesn't like and get the ones he does. Many people need marines and boyz.

Sure they raised price, but it's still a damn good deal. GW doesn't do it very often!
