Somewhere in the unknown universe.

Black templars get to re-roll all hits in close combat. They also get to go to ground and jump right back up when you're done shooting at them. They then get a free move forward. their crusaders are immune to lances.

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy.

Am sure the upgrades called "blessed hull" or something along those lines.

So what builds are there for BT's?.

Somewhere in the unknown universe.

There is the Mechanized build.

There is the SM swarm (you can't possibly take them all down at once).

But more than overall builds for templars, there is a goal: get into close combat.

It's back, again? Answer is still Orcs, CSM, Chaos Daemons, with IG as a strong prospect that will join the top 3 if it can have a good showing at the 'Ard boyz and Big Waaagh/Necro.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

The cool aid drinking anti-orkists will not accept the results of this poll when the obvious winner will be Orks. Get ready for it.

Well yeah,it is based on peoples opinions after all

I would rather have a poll on here then huge ego'd power gaming vets flaming each other, although it would be rather amusing .

Space Wolf Land Raider spam is pretty damn effective. cheap assaulty units inside land raiders with killy characters? most people cant stop them from hitting their lines and wrecking face.

EDIT* not top tier, but definately worth a mention

THE HORUS HERESY: Emprah: Hours, go reconquer the galaxy so there can be a new golden age. Horus: But I should be Emprah, bawwwwww! Emprah: Magnus, stop it with the sorcery. Magnus: But I know what's best, bawwwwww! Emprah: Horus, tell Russ to bring Magnus to me because I said so. Horus: Emprah wants you to kill Magnus because he said so. Russ: Fine. Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Sanguinius: *throws self on Horus's power claws* Alas, I am undone! When you play Castlevania, remember me! *enter Emprah* Emprah: Horus! So my favorite son killed my favorite daughter! Horus: What about the Lion? Emprah: Never liked her. Horus: No one does. Now prepare to die! *mortally wounds Emprah*Emprah: Au contraire, you dick. *kills Horus* Dorn: Okay, now I just plug this into this and . . . okay, it works! Emprah? Hellooooo? Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan: C'mon guys. It's not that bad. Dorn: I guess not. Russ: You all suck. Ima go bring the Emprah back to life.

For Necrons, I would say Roadblock. Three Monoliths is the way to go in 5th edition. 2k and over at least.

I would have to say that a balanced guard army is actually better then most of the talked about power lists. We hear Tank heavy, mech vets and 9 valk's but a balanced approach gives more things problems then the proposed guard "power lists". Just saying should be up there.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

I think you forgot to add the gunline Tau. Fish of Fury doesn't work anymore, ninja tau was a stupid idea from the get go, and static gunline is where Tau absolutely dominate in a good player's hands who can read deployment possiblities pre-game.

Well, some IG variants are eventually tier 1.
I'm especially interested to see the performance of Air Cav.

Toughest all round army I've seen is Eldar jet bike council. fortune council on bikes is ultra cheese.
The new IG is pretty tough too.
Vanilla marines have some great stuff.

Its funny that if you look at space marines, all the good builds, are using the ablitilys of Special Characters, aint there any reasonably good torny builds, without special characters for marines.

That's pretty much by design. The characters are used to unlock alternate FOC selections and grant special abilities. Orks, Dark Angels, and I think Eldar are like that too. IG as well to some extent.

Eldar are kinda like that. If you have a certain configuration of a wraithguard squad, it counts as troops instead of Elites.

I found that special characters are not required.
I usually field a Librarian leading some Termies. (I won three RTTs in a row with a foot slogging army facing Nids, Orks, and whatnot.)
