I don't know what crumpets is but there is a time honored ice cream delicacy called a banana split here.

Sounds good.

Pikelets are a bit like Scotch pancakes but they have little holes in and they aren't brown.

Wow Crumpets look delicious (Mmm butter... drool). Is it like an English Muffin?

no. less floury, more chewy, more sweet. Doesn't work with savory toppings.

So just some butter and you're good to go, or is it better as the OP suggested (Chocolate Spread and Bananas)?

butter will melt and run into the holes. just do that straight out of the toaster. The base is solid so it doesn't run through.

We have an "English Food" section at our local grocery store. I've always been a little hesitant to purchase anything from it (some English food is a little scary), but if I can find some Crumpets, or Crumpet mix, I will pick some up.

Do you guys use a salted or unsalted butter (possibly sweet-cream butter)?

It works fine with Marmite.

I just did a little Wiki-wading and found it humorous that Strumpets and Crumpets (in regards to women) are so radically different.

I'm seriously going to look for Crumpets this weekend. My aunt is coming in from out of town. She had spent some time in England (I think it was an extended vacation), and she seems to know a thing or two about English food.
