The latest White Dwarf, the issue that is arriving in stores and homes this week, announces the arrival of these three Bitz Pack sprues. Two of these were announced less formally a few weeks ago without a release date. The showing in the latest White Dwarf means their availability for Direct Ordering is now imminent.

- Leman Russ: the sprue that has the main hull and battle cannon is shown
- Land Raider Crusader: the sprue with the assault cannons and other weapon parts
- Crashed Aquila Lander: the crashed spacecraft sprue that used to come with the Battle For Macragge set.

I've been saying for a while that they ought to sell the Crashed Lander sprue via Direct Serivces. It's a terrific piece of scenery and highly useful for Planetstrike. Fortunately I already own it, but I'm sure a lot of people who missed the Macragge set would like to own it. The other sprues will prove useful no doubt as well.

So we're not getting a new one? How strange.

Indeed. I thought GW would release two Russ boxes to maximise profit, but clearly they're having a change of heart.

This is the part where we start talking about how change in turret design and the way the turret connects to the new hull vs the old hull is some sort of money-making conspiracy to force people - and it's always forcing, no one ever has a choice with GW - into buying a a new tank and then buying a complete overpriced hull to use the Battlecannon with the new sponsons.

And you can't go to FW either, as those turrets don't fit the new kit!!!

After that we can spend the next 6-7 pages complaining about GW customer service. People can post a few snarky remarks, a few useless "GW is the awseome" sycophant style posts, some of us will make some unsupported assumptions, some of us will have huge posts that quote every little bit of another person's post, taking everything out of context in an effort to score cheap points, until Alpharius or Frazz comes in here and locks it.

Actually, it seems kinda interesting.

I mean, it shows that they're trying to make the Leman Russ easier to work with(feth off @ those wheels. 15 of them and I hate them so much.). Either way, I'm sorta intrigued.

I can see the point of that, as long as this is their stop-gap temporary solution before they can recut the main Russ sprue (maybe with the Exterminator and Eradicator parts). And you think building 15 of those things is bad. Try 31 of them, and 24 Chimera hulls. And the Russ is the easier of the two!!!

My other question though is why they haven't done the same thing with the Chimera and released the two or three sprues you need to make the hull of that thing. It's been a while since I've put together a Chimera, so the hull might be on the same sprue as part of the sides, making that impractical, but if it's not, they could release it.

The crashed lander is a fun bit of scenery and one of the best they've done in a long time. Does it come with the removable core thingy and the power pylons?

I believe it's just the one sprue with the actual large Lander pieces on it. Those smaller items were, if I remember correctly, on a different sprue. If that is correct then the answer to your question would be no.

Yeah, I can't remember for sure which sprue the poer core was on, but the pylons are definitely on the Marine sprue.

Power core, pylons, the dude with the cool bolt pistol, they were all on the Marine sprue that came with the Battle of McDonald's box. So this crashed lander will just be the Aquila Lander.

Pity, as those pylons are nifty little things.

The sprue from the regular old Russ kit and it will be direct-only.
