I'd respond with the 360 exclusives list, but its really too danged long and not worth my effort to go and dig them all up.

Also not really worth the effort as this old conversation (360 v's PS3) is mute anyway, Nintendo has come in and slaughtered the console marked with that little grey box they call a Wii (Which I can't stand or own btw.) So its probably best for all Sony, Microsoft fanboys to huddle up and await the destruction (well as we know it at least) of the games industry as Cooking mama 67 breaks all sales records in a few years time.

I probably am jesting, although a little ickle part of me is potentially worried that I am not.

Aye to be fair as long as they haven't stripped all remaining features out of the box. Should a game I really want come out as a PS3 exclusive in the next year, I may well consider one.

They're keeping it the same, like the drake uncharted bundles are the same.

160 GB, Controller, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune= $399.99.

80GB, Controller= $299.99

I looked them up in my store's special computer program and learned that we now only make an $11.00 profit off of the 160GB now.

That would be true except Microsoft also announced a price drop as well.

I do not want a fanboy fight. I don't owe alligience to any of them. I have a Wii, 360 and have a PS3 (my brother-in-law got it for my wife, SUCKER!) on the way. It isn't the one I would want, nor my wife, but we can't argue with the price. We would prefer one with backwards compatibility.

That is not a bad list. My only concern is that you mix already released with some games that won't be out for quite some time.

I was fanboy fighting typeline, we need not involve the dakka powers in the great "Fanboy Dakka War X".

I know the backwards compatability thing sucks. I got a 40GB instead of the old compatable 80GB. Now I have a new "improved" 80GB that doesn't play PS2 games. But hey, I can get the original PS1 rainbow six and resident evil, and such off the market at least.

I would like to see the article with the microsoft price drop though, the only ones I see are from 2006. I want to know this stuff because of where I work.

I would have dropped 500.00 on the system if it was backwards compatible and could be functionally turned into a terminal in addition to CD/DVD/Blue Ray player.

while true you can't play all your old PS1/PS2 games, i just tend to connect for free to the store wirelessly and then download them

Ugh, no thanks. I prefer my 360, it can actually run my old games, unlike that pile of crap that won't let me play Killzone or Soulcalibur III.

Actually they all play Playstation 1 games, only the early models play PS2 games.

I'll see if I can find that price drop info, but I'm to lazy right now.

Edit: Here is a link to the 360 price drop. I guess the pro is being discontinued and the Arcade and Elite will be dropping down.

If only that was true. It does some games, sure, but only two games that I have. And it doesn't emulate those perfectly either.

At £250, I'm getting one! Saves me buying a new laptop, as procure a Keyboard for it and I have full Interwebs available.

And I would buy a 360, but I don't really find Sportsims and Men In Tinhats all that appealing.

How is the price comparable with the 360 the 360 is £150+ whereas the PS3 will be £250. Ignoring the merits of individual games over each other it seems that all the extra £100 gets you a Blu-ray player.

I wonder what the future value of the Blu-ray player will be as Sony are about to launch an on-line movie download service which will include HD media (I assume). The general consensus is that downloaded movies will be the way of the future (as they are now for music). Also I note that separate Blu-ray players are getting cheaper, I found one on-line a moment ago for £168 and I am sure cheaper models exist.

I understand that PS1 games can be emulated on any PS3 but not PS2 games (as the necessary hardware is missing) is this true? Backward compatibility with my PS1 and PS2 games would have made the PS3 a clear winner for me as it is I cannot see a clear technical lead by either party.

I wonder if tying the PS3 to Blu-ray was as good an idea as tying the PS2 to DVD I wonder how much cheaper a PS3 without Blue-ray would have been and if it would have been a better purchase at this stage of the console's development.
