I like the finish they give, and would love to be able to do the same, but I don't know enough about how to use them or under which circumstances airbrushing is a good idea.

I have a compressor that my father gave me when I moved into my house and a simple badger airbrush. I have yet to test it or see how I can make them compatible. I would like to give it a shot some time but I need to finish setting up my shop.

I've heard they're great. Never had the time (or cash) to try it.

Moving flat out..

I've got the GW 'hand flamer' spray gun..

It works okay and allowed me to base coat 120 Orks in about half an hour..

I'd like to look into more advanced ones.. but like others - don't know where to get one.

I've yet to paint any tanks or whatnot that would make an airbrush worth it.

I'm not sure it would be worth it for a modicum of basic troops (right now I'm doing night goblins, so I paint their robes black by hand pretty fast anyway).

It's an expensive art tool that's for sure. If I ever did buy one, I doubt I would paint models with it. (I would possibly paint on a canvas with it though )

An airbrush is a fine thing. Wont miss it.

The best way to get vehicles and buildings painted.
Its nigh impossible to outmatch a compressor fed airbrush on large surfaces with a brush.

I had a really nice compressor and a couple of airbrushes.... they all got stolen from me about a year ago.

Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? I have one, but I really don`t use. The compressor is ridiculously loud (it`s meant for big things, not an airbrush.... perhaps I should invest in a smaller compressor), and I`m living in an apartment building.... not a great place for it.

Nothing worth winning ever came easy.

I find they can impart a much more relistic finish on vehicles. I use it sparingly on actual figures, but I can do pretty fine details. I have a single tip double action Iwat eclipse and I can draw lines down to 1/32nd of an inch or close to 1 mm and I can do nice lines up to an inch as well. I recommend picking up a simple educational book on the subject, and it seems that some of the best publications come out of the UK. I subscribe to Airbrush action and a couple other magazines that include simple how to's. Iwata makes some very nicve and very quiet compressors. I assume those who have loud compressors are using simple diaphragm compressors. An easy way to get started is to purchase a scuba tank or similar and simply use the compressed air from these. Get a decent regulator and you'll be off to a good start.

An Iwata Eclipse runs in the neighborhood of 125-150 USD.

I don't see myself ever getting an airbrush. I paint my stuff, but usually only two or three different colors, they look nice, but I don't want to spend a lot of time making them perfect. With my painting style an airbrush just wouldn't be worth the money, cans of spraypaint are more like it!

I own a single action airbrush. It is a godsend for painting tanks and other vehicles, with use of basic stencils i've been able to do things such as putting Big red stars on my Tau Vehicles as well as near perfect straight lines, I highly recommend an airbrush to anyone that pains vehicles

Got a double-action, single-action and compressor on eBay for 60 quid. Cheap Chinese knockoff? Yes. Keep in mind that Chinese knockoffs can be as good or better as the original these days. Mine works better than one a friend bought for triple the price.

I'm having a hell of a time getting it too work the way it's supposed to, but my uncle found two Passche double action brushes and a compressor when he was moving and gave them to me. I like them for base coating vehicles, but I don't see doing too much more with it. Maybe basecoating genestealers.
