Rotting Sorcerer of Nurgle

Not a full review until tonight or tomorrow as I have to work & see my new goddaughter & watch Chuck 3D tonight.

It's very shiney and the pictures are glorious.
Khorne & Nurgle-sentric on the chaos side & grey knights & red hunters for the good guys.

I think the squads are now based on the new Guard dex but more research for cock-ups is required!

The Krieg Infantry Squad has no points value - so free grunts - yey! (or a major typo :( )

More later

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Does the Nurgle list include units with a 'proper' Mark of Nurgle? i.e. gives both +1 T and FNP?

Any Grey Knight/ Red Hunter info would be very much appreciated.

Red Hunters- Codex Chapter?

Grey Knights- I don't want point costs, but would like confirmation of Psycanon turret and what it can be mounted on.

Overall how many pages of fluff dedicated to GK and RH?

based on previous experience with GW and CSM, the fact that this would make them both "good" and "consistent" means that invariably the answer is most likely "no".

reminder: the actual real Death Guard do not have Terminators, bikes or heavy weapons...

From what I've heard, the two daemon princes suck, blight drones are a fast attack choice for a csm or cd army and when the pdf comes out, krieg guard will be 80pts for a standard ifrantry squad!

Psycannon turret, confirmed.

Mounts on Ordo Malleus Razorbacks.

Grey Knights Land Raider Redeemer has a Psyk-Out Assault Launcher.

Red Hunters ARE a a Codex Chapter, and there's a bit about them in the book. Mostly it talks about the Grey Knights and Red Hunters in the final stages of the campaign.

Thanks for the info so far and anything else you guys can provide.

Inquisitorial Stormtrooper squads or an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor and his Retinue in a Daemonhunters army.

And no, I didn't mean Red Scorpions.

The Red Hunters ARE a Codex Astartes Chapter, that has close ties with the Inquisition--even going so far as to incorporate the Inquisitorial 'I' into their Chapter's heraldry.

Outstanding

I hope they're priced like a SM Razorback w/ assault cannon or cheaper.

Thanks for all the info Kanluwen.

except that.. per CSM codex. Terminators with the MoN do not get FNP. Therefore, by definition they can NOT be Plague Marines of the Death Guard.

I'll leave the absurdity of the Death guard not having bikes or heavy weapons for another skewering of the poorly done CSM Codex and the goon that wrote it at a later date.

I prefer the term "Copypasta Disasta!", as that's what most of Warwick's rules end up as.

Mine won't be coming in for some time to come, it FW didn't take my money until Monday, meaning I'm on the slow boat and probably in the second batch, minus the sexy sleeve.

They'd pack the book in an other-wise empty sleeve and it'd be crushed on the way. Then when you called Forge World to complain (as E-mailing them is a waste of frakking time) they'll tell you that it's not their problem.

Anyway, I can wait. Need a new PC first. Forge World can be Christmas.

If you only order the third book it will arrive in the sleeve with the remainder of the space padded out by a cardboard spacer. As for packaging, mine was packed fairly well and arrived undamaged. Surprisingly it arrived last Saturday which I wasn't expecting either.

You need to stop a moment and decide what platform you are arguing from... a gameplay basis or a fluff basis to your statement.

Throughout the history of 40k, Death Guard have been a heavy infantry army, highly valuing the basic infantry advance (well, as basic as space marines can be) supported by tactical dreadnought armor and dreadnoguhts. They traditionally did not use bikes, jump troops, transport vehicles, etc. This doesn't mean they NEVER used them, but the DG attack that included these forces were rare to the extreme.

Think of it this way: The Death Guard are super-enhanced WWI German Stormtroopers (there's a reason their helmets have pointy spikes), trench-fighters extraordinaire, and utilize other assets to support their infantry advances.

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

The sleeve won't be crushed, as the spacer they use as a placeholder is actually pretty good at keeping the sleeve intact.

Now, the spacer might have a few tears in it

To be fair, the couple of times that I've had issues with FW products, they've made good on them right away. There are legitimate complaints about FW, but that they don't stand behind their product isn't one of them.

No particularly crazy rules, other than "Massive Physique" and his "Claw of Demnos" which is just like Abbaddon's Talon of Horus.

There is really only 2 army lists in the book - Kreig Armoured Company & Renegades: Servants of Decay.

There are additional rules for a couple of new Ordo Malleus tanks - the afore mentioned LR Redeemer & the Razorback
The LR can be taken by Deamon Hunters as a Heavy choice & the RB as a Transport option for Inq Stormtroopers & Inq with his retinue (again in a DH army)

There is fluff on Grey Knights, Red Hunters, Angels of Absolution, more Krieg.
The only other rules on the Imperial side is the Minotaur super heavy, the Valdor tank hunter super heavy & Inq Rex (285points so he's not a big softy!)

combat engineer wrote:Any crazy rules for Lord Zhufor? Is he a Renegade HQ or can he be taken as a CSM lord?

Like Inq Rex, you get a page of dedicated fluff & rules. He's the Lord of the Skulltaker's Warband (a splinter group of the World Eaters) & costs 185pnts.
Can only be taken in a Chaos SM army.
In fact many of the new individual models aren't in either army. They can be taken with either Chaos Deamon or Chaos Marine armies - sometimes both.

Necrosius is a Master of the Apostates of Contagion, a splinter of the Death Guard (160points) and the model is the Chaos Nurgle Sorcerer already released -
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/nurgsorc.htm

There are also rules for the Gorefeaster (Khorne) which is this model -
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/chaosbeast.htm

& the Jibberjaw (Nurgle) -
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/cspawn.htm

An'ggarath is nasty but does cost 888points.

The renegade list is very much like the new Guard dex but the are differences.
These are in the odd stats (eg, in some aspects Enforcers are better than Commissars) and the Armoured Fist squad is available.
As are plague zombies!!!
However Hounds of Xaphan & Ogre Berserkers are out - & I need up-to-date rules!!!!
Plague Marines are in the list (a bit like the other books where a squad or 2 can be taken as elites but no other special bits & pieces, eg blight drones, are incuded).

Page count is 224.
Haven't read the fluff yet but not disappointed.

The most annoying thing is in the scenarios where it suggests that you and your mates get together & each collects a force from each of the 3 books - great idea but as the first 2 were based on the old Guard dex and, more importantly, the old rules, points, stats & some special rules are now obsolete.

I will wait just a few months more before I endeavor to do a full errata for both the original books.
I will concentrate on Renegades 1st & publish somewhere - what's the legality of publishing corrections / interpretations of someone else's work if they don't do so first??
I'll probably post to FW (real post rather than e-mail!).

Questions, comments, chocolate muffins??

btw my book & sleave arrived in pristine condition.
