One for the older gamers out there, younger games comments are still welcome though.
Does any one still use the term Beardy these days in reference to armies that build purely to win with out thinking about the general fluff?
Are there any old gaming slang terms that you remember using when gaming in your younger days which have fallen in disuse?
Or any new ones that you use?
(Please keep it as clean as possible )

Hurray for lash prince lol
I hate it when GW makes certain codices to where you have to build your army one way to make it playable. Total broken lameness. SO! Any Chaos players wanna know how to build and army full of total ass kickery? A dual lash prince with as many obliterators as you can take. And then uh.... I dunno just fill the rest lol

i think beardy is strictly a UK thing. the term de jour across the pond is cheesy or broken (hear both lots). occasionally, i hear people wrongly conjugate it ("that unit is broke") but i don't condone that rampant misuse of an already difficult language.

Gamer Slang:
Coming along like forty -- Never used by nongamers that I have ever met, but means 'going as planned'. Comes from (I have been told) factory workers who make I-beams in central Illinois. A factory specific phrase that bled out into gaming.
Quatro's slowed -- Specific to my hometown. Stems from no less than five incidents over the years (that I am personally aware of) where a pizza place was unable to locate the address of a gaming store which was across the street from them. We once had a phone conversation that went:
"Well, we cant find your store."
"Look out your window. See the guy on the second floor waving?"
"Yes."
"That's me. Bring my my damn pizza."
Cracked -- Broken, 'beardy', unbalanced.
Crack -- Material which makes something unbalanced. Use: "Jaws of the Wolf Lord is total crack!"
Saluki Math -- Also local, this means math that is wrong. Blatantly. A reference to the local college, and the low regard that townies have for some of the students.
As a side note, I have noticed several gaming standards that have fallen by the wayside. When playing in a D&D game recently, two of the gamers (who were very young) looked at me askance when I asked if we had a ten foot pole in the group. Or bootblack. I ask you, what good D&D'er doesnt have a ten foot pole and a tin of bootblack on every character? Seriously. They didnt even know what it was for. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also:
Twink, Minmax -- To combine your forces in such a way as to achieve maximum effect, even to the point of using rules in ways they were never intended. A family member insists to me that 'twink' is a police specific slang for a child molester.
While the above is in more common use, I think the usage has changed somewhat. Nowadays it seems like twinking is just another accepted play style. Whereas back when I first started it was a hated and reviled thing.

I used the term "beardy" once and got looked at funny for it.
One of the local slangs my gamer group has is "F*** your spears!", a phrase one of my allies exclaimed in reference to the fact that my brightlances and singing spears can't ever seem to do anything useful. We now use it to describe any really lousy eldar shooting phase.
We also refer to the start of every Necron turn as the "necron cheating phase" (wbb) and any farseer power as the "eldar cheating phase"
also, members of my gamer group tend to pronounce WYSIWYG as "whizzeewig". Might not be slang but at least its entertaining.

"Fething Elves..." gets said a lot in our Warhammer Quest campaign. And "It's rape time!" (which is more of a Silent Hill joke that crossed over into 40K) whenever something bad is about to happen to someone in close combat (like when the Terminator Captain found himself surrounded by two Slaaneshi Dreads and a Slaaneshi Daemon Prince). Nearly killed a friend of mine with that he was laughing so hard (and choking to death on coke).

Failmeltas. when you miss with a meltagun/multimelta, term came about during 'ardboys preliminaries when i failed to kill a single vehicle (didnt even get a single roll on the damage table, everything missed/failed to pen) with over 25 melta shots (and a like number of assault cannon shots) within 12" I started calling them failmeltas and it just stuck.
MISSSSSSSile launchers. came about in relation to a guy who plays deathwing, all of his cyclone missile launchers miss whenever he calls them "missile launchers", but they tend to hit when he calls them "cyclones" so we all say MISSSSile launchers to goad his guys into missing.

Slang != Cliche
Please stop trolling. You know better.

I find myself using the term "soak", meaning to absorb something negative, which I originally heard in gaming terms somewhere ("He soaked the hit"). I usually use it in financial terms, ie soaking the cost for something.
WYSIWYG is what "wizzywig" is, and it's an acronym for "What You See Is What You Get". That's been around for quite a while, and isn't specific to gaming. I first heard about it with regards to word processing/publishing on computers back in the late 80's.

I use slang with my group and don't reguarly bring it out.
I use "Janky" "That's total Jank" or "Cheese" combined with expletives, when something seems "broke".
Of course, "sick" is used alot. When something is amazing.
"Droppin plates"
"God roll" When there is no way they made all the saves they shouldn't have. (I have seen 7 sixes rolled for a 5+ Invul, they should of been dead, dang Summoned Demons.)
"Crap rollin" or getting "Crap rolled" for not rolling the dice well. Usual excuse for not winning the game.
When rolling for a plasma weapon or Kustom Mega Blasta I have a tendancy to yell "Ima firin' mah lazar!"

I would argue that slang is just a subset of language. Like all languages, it's a shared set of symbols that allow a group to share common experiences. Thus, for small communities, slang is a way of expressing shared bonds and experiences.
Of course, that's ignoring the fact that we're a bunch of gamers discussing gaming slang, not a group of linguists spanking each other off.
