Go down to your local GW and youll be surprised how many 1 headed hydras or half built gyrocopters etc. that youll see. The reason for this is that the large metal models are just too awkward to assemble. Some more experienced modelers or those with acssess to welding tools may not have a promblem but most it seems do. So why, you ask, do GW simply make theese models plastic after all its in much greater supply and is cheaper. I even dont mind paying a little bit more for plastic with more part options. Characters and small elite models are fine its just the large metal ones i hate. What about everyone else?

What? Access to welding...? lol

I much prefer metal models over plastic, any day.

Because they're too busy making new plastic Space Marine kits, or finding ways to turn already-existing Plastic Kits into enough filler to stuff the old box with half the models.

At least, that's the unofficial reason.

Peeps just need to pick up a drill and some paperclips.
1) Metal models just feel better (I am still using the old giant
2) I need my case nice and heavy to fight off all of the ladies that mob my crew after tournaments

Plastics, please.
+ fewer casting issues (heat sinks, warping),
+ easier to build
+ no gravity death issues

The new Stegadon is light years ahead of the old metal one. You can have a nice big one without using an ingot's worth of metal. I've had lots of issues keeping the skinks attached on the old one. You can't exactly pin those.

However... I suck at drilling, but I've found that using a really fast epoxy does do the job well. I'll tack glue the parts with CA, but then use the epoxy for the real bond. My carnosaur has held up rather well. I will admit that the metal carnosaur would be hard to beat. Metal does tend to have better relief texture.

I've seen one broken Gyrocopter, but I like the Metal Monsters.

I generally prefer plastic large things, especially things like Dragons who have lots of small joints.

I do like my metal Treebeard (used as a Treeman Ancient) though, but he went together much more easily than most metal models.

I like the large metal models. I think they would be much more durable, and the details can be finer.

It would be nice to have more options, however, as in the new giant set. All of the choices are amazing. But the whole model doesn't have to be plastic.

Of course, if you have a fuller bits box and some epoxy putty of one sort or another, it isn't too hard to make an awesome conversion. (not too hard - just daunting)

I kind of like the idea of having a built-in hierarchy to the armies based on how hard the models are to assemble. Only the best modelers have a Great Unclean One, or Sigmar himself backing them up, and the newbies have small armies of mostly rank and file models.

I prefer large metal monsters over small metal pieces that you can't pin. I don't like large metal monster prices Other than that I've got no problem with them.

If you've got problems putting your models together may you should check the age recommendations before you by, there are several companies that sell snap together models

Another vote for plastic.

Drilling & gap-filling on my GUO has made me dread doing the same for my Lord of Change, which I need far more for my Daemons to boot. It's not that it's beyond my abilities, it's just that it's a labor-intensive annoyance that I'd rather not have to deal with.
