I'm going to stand up for the d4, the gamer's caltrop.
Sure, that d20 came through for me an awful lot in the D&D years. White Wolf with their penchant for the d10 gave me a cause to have that be the most numerous die I own. (even more than my d6's)
No, I have to go to memories of the game sessions that would go to the point of passing out. The magic user, having tossed out his full allotment of Magic Missiles ineffectively, would throw his dice in anger. In the wee hours of the morning, we'd be awoken with a cry of pain as one of our group 'discovered' the scattered dice.
Yeah, those were good times. D4, I choose you.

Old, old, old school have a d20 marked 0 to 9 twice and a d6 to say if ita 1 to 10 or 11 to 20...
