So, with the revealing trailer for Modern Warfare 2 Infamy Trailer there was talk about if the "taking of Washington DC" is "to much." There was even a thing on X-Play and people were asked to chime in on if it was to much.

What about Fallout 3? It shows a nuked DC?

To much? Holy Crap! For who? Any male who sees this and thinks it is to much and needs a hug, needs to turn in his testicles.

So, am I the only one that thinks people just need to get over it and move on? What do you think?

100% correct. This country is too concerned with offending people. I would rather everyone in this country be offended then 1 person not get to exercsie their freedom of speech. Everytime ANYTHING is sensored for politcal correctness we all lose a little freedom.

Possibly, however the world is made a little safer when posters use spell check.

On topic though; I wouldn't think that it's too much.

What I don't understand is that DC or any other US location is a big taboo but it's okay that say the Eiffel tower is destroyed or Sidney is nuked, all is fair as long as it's not the US of A..

Why is it to much? If it really happened and they were redepicting it maybe but its fiction. Heck War of the worlds shows londen burning is that to much for france.(thats were it is right? im not the good with locationss.

Don't worry, we destroy our fair share of our own monuments/cities in movies.

As far as I know this is the first time the concept of Washington DC being harmed has been "taboo".

Which is why I think it's not "taboo" at all, and it's simply a way for the Modern Warfare 2 people to advertise their game. I mean, it worked here, didn't it?

what people need to realise is, that nothing happens when you get offended....

when you get offended your skin doesnt melt away....or you dont become set alight... so everyone can feel free to be offended.

My skin melted away when I played Advent Rising.

It didn't even need to blow up any buildings to do that. I felt my brain sizzling when I looked at the packaging.

Yeah, this. Marketing throws out the idea 'the story in our new game is so hardcore we're worried it'll offend people' and it's transparent nonsense. Trashing a US city isn't offensive, it's passe.

I'm just wondering if their ever doing all those remakes of Ps1 games for the ps3 like FF7,8 and Crash bandicoot.

I was using it in a particular context; an American wouldn't be offended by something bad happening to London, but a Brit would.
