I love the squig models both the hoppers and the herds
I prefer the herds though

I was wondering which is more useful and why

if I used hoppers I would have them run up a flank trying to slam flanks or slamming smaller units

if I used herders I would plan to hide them behind two units of 30 goblin spearmend and have them pop out at any hard targets

please correct me if im going to use them wrong and tell me which you prefer

Herds are great vs elite armies with small units, because when you go pop it will really hurt the enemy.
I've never used them...

Because I always run 2 units of squig hoppers for these key differences:
- The only unit that allows a 360 degree charge that can enter a wood (the snotling pump wagon will die if it hits a wood)
- No mvt penalties for difficult ground
- Fast
- Will smash almost any enemy flankers (squig herds will be up the middle)

How many Hoppers do you put in a unit? How big of a herd do you run, too?

If you don't mind...

I'm putting a Squig themed army together now and I've got six hoppers and the Big Boss on Great Squig. I plan on dumping a bunch of points into the herd, but I don't know how many hoppers it would take for them to really be effective.

I currently run 8 to a hopper unit.

120 points makes them a 'throwaway' unit that you don't care to lose.
Can take a few wounds and will still dish out a heap of high strength attacks.

Also hoppers can jump over friendly units on the way to the enemy.

BOING!
