I apologise for the terrible loss of your newspaper. I understand this is a difficult time, and we are all here to offer support.

I'm glad you like the skin, I am really happy with it myself but have a list of things to do differently next time, hehe.

I can't bring myself to do it, the front is already going to be quite bright and crazy because of his mask, he needs some darkness to pull it off, lol. Once the skin and leather is fully painted, there should be some decent definition between the two

Woohoo, more warmahordes! The models are amazing, I really enjoyed slotting them together like rather pricy kinder egg prizes
The song was intense. It stirred my squig emotions. I am sure Andrew shed a tear when you wrote it and has no idea why.

I am back off weekend now, I did a little bit of work on the tabletop standard Carnivean when I really shouldn't have been painting, but he was too fun to not play around with. I ended up just throwing them on Tumblr as the chap I am painting them for is on there, but here is the work done so far

I am extremely unhappy with the joints, they did not seem this bad pre white which is really highlighting them.
I don’t usually greenstuff tabletop stuff but I’m going to need to with this dude, Ill leave it as a final touch and finish it off with the skin tone. Frustrating.

I also finally just bought the webcam I have been planning on for ages, which is a lovely - http://www.trustedreviews.com/Microsoft-LifeCam-Cinema_Peripheral_review

I plan on trying to make some painting vids as soon as it arrives, but I am not quite sure what to do!
I was thinking maybe something simple to start off with, like a video version of my beginners guide? Maybe a start to finish on an Ork or something? I'm not sure.

Ugg... those seams are terrible. Definitely want to GS those a bit. Shame too as the rest is looking quite nice.

I guess I'd recommend making a simple vid or two to get the hang of the medium... then when your confident, make a video version of your beginners guide... having your work in multiple formats is generally a very good idea and best of all it builds on work you've already done.

Pick up some video editing software. If you can get the hang of it, the free version of Avid is great.

I have the microsoft vid editor which I have heard is great, would you recommend Avid over it though?

And Gits, the seams are awful aren't they. I swear they were not actually that noticeable till I reached the final white coat and bam, awful. I raged.

Djinsk suggested maybe just making a vid showing my painting area and how I have it set out, that's quite simple and could be fun, I will wait and see Cam won't be here till next week I imagine, so I have time to mull it over!

MS Video editor should stand tall for you just fine. The key thing that most people ignore is SOUND. Wear a microphone (or headset) when recording your voice. Remove all background noise. When working on a video, keep your sound levels 'normal'. And, for the love of everything you hold holy (squigs?) if you're going to use music, use it sparingly, and at a low/controlled level. Nothing kills a video tutorial faster than blasting some crappy deathmetal band at your viewer/listener. Same goes for podcasts. Ugh.

I am genuinly excited about trying this out I will try the ms vid editor till I know what I am doing and then might get a bit more experimental.

I won't be using voice recording at all, reasons being that my accent is ridiculous and would not be very useful for people trying to watch my stuff and learn anything from it, as all you would hear is "OI U GITS OK TRUN ON DE PAINTS ON DE SQUAGS OK !**& LEARN YE PAINTIN LIKE DIS YEAH LIKE YEAH. TROW ON TREE LAIRS REDS YEAH OH IT BE SIX O BONG BYE", and also because I want my actual presence in the vids to be minimal, they are about painting and mini's, not me

Will be using annotations and mellow music, classical, some chill stuff.

Gitsplitta wrote:Like this!

It's ok Gits, we saw nothing.

So what I've been doing tonight is painting Wurrzags mask. There is about 3 hours work on this and this is as far as I have gotten.. oh man.

Today I have learned two things.

Thinking I can get this done in one sitting when each feather is actually taking nearly an hour is totally insane

-and-

My incredibly cheap camera has a macro so powerful it can actually pick up the pores in metal. Lol. Wow.

I'm fairly sure we'd all pay good money for that. I suggest doing them as you plan...and then do at least one with your voice as a gag reel. Call the series... "Brush and Brogue".

My Paypal account is ready.

Haha, you think you would, but then you would hear it and it would be exactly like what happened to the Nazis when they opened the ark of the covenant.

More work on Wurrzag, bit more to do with the yellow feathers and then I can start on the wood. Going crazy now.

Mask is looking great Iffy. Worth EVERY HOUR you're putting into it... really! No, I'm serious!

And I'd by for a download with the "voice of Iffy" on it. True genius can't be hidden by a thick accent! It just makes you sound... eccentric.

Oh well phew, cause I feel like I am spending a wee bit too long on something an inch and a half tall, but at least he is slowly getting there D:

"Voice of Iffy" eh? I could do dramatic readings of Shakespear but replace half the words with Irish slang and horrible curses. It could be impressive.

GiraffeX wrote:Those feathers are looking amazing Iffy, I cant wait to see the mini finished.

Haha cheers dude, and neither can I! Just want him done and dusted at this stage.

And here he is when I finished up for the night, still loads of work to go on the tassels, wood, and metal, but I am too tired to continue now.

You know Shakespeare was an Irishman... he just moved to London for the warm summers!

Seriously... that could be your "thing"... your hook to draw people in & set yourself apart from all the other million video how-to's out there. You don't have to do much... just a paragraph before each tutorial to get people in the mood... Once they see how good you are they'll stay, but you need something to sucker... I mean attract them to your site. It's called (insert Mel Brooks OTT Jewish accent) "moichandizing"!!

Yep... it's a moral imperative. You MUST do it.

FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLISH Gits.

Aku's voice actor was also Uncle Iroh for the first part of The last Airbender, when he passed away his apprentice took over the part and they had a really nice "In memory" scene added into the show for him.

Which is being a nightmare to find as nickelodeon keeps pulling it from youtube.

Ah yes... Mako. Wonderful character actor. Tremendous as the voice if Aku and Uncle Iro. Very sad at his passing. Our whole family watched The Last Airbender series avidly. I think my wife's and my favorite episode was "Tales of Ba Sing Se" (forgive the spelling). Very quiet, very personal, and Iro figured prominently. Loved his transformation in prison from the pudgy wise man back into a mighty warrior near the end of the series.

Kids watch the new series but the Ms. and I haven't gotten into it.

I have it on good word that the new series is worth watching, but I haven't gotten around to it. If it's anything close to the original, it should be amazing.

Also, the mask is great, especially the yellow feathers. He'll look great when he's finished.

Also Also, I'm all for an "Ifalna doing Shakespeare" thing. Painting videos are one thing, but throw in the Bard; awesomeness.

Hahaha, it really does! I'm getting massive crash bandicoot nostalgia, it was the first game I had for my playstation just after it was released. Spent a lot of time playing it with my dad, he would take on the bosses and harder parts for me. "Helping" he said, though in reality he was having even more fun than I was.

Man, I am so happy you showed the wee ones TLA. If I had kids it would definitely be up there on things to watch, my 10 yo bro has been getting a season sent to him every couple of months and just finished it off recently. Theres good stuff for kids in that show. Good stuff for everyone.

Gitsplitta wrote:Kids watch the new series but the Ms. and I haven't gotten into it.

I literally just watched the entire season in one sitting with my boyfriend in a massive Korra last weekend. It is fantastic, but more adult. Definitely aimed at kids coming into their teens and older. Seeing the children of all the TLA characters as adults with their own problems is fantastic, Toph's daughter is.. just.. the Chuck Norris of ladies.

The police of Republic city were started by Toph and are now a regiment of metal benders. They are beyond badass. I would definitely recommend watching it, I am sure the kids would love it too but might not be interested in Korra's teenage girl got a crush on two boys angst

It is amazing. The animation quality alone is just breathtaking, it looks like it had a higher budget than some feature films I've seen.
