with all this talk i think i need to look up what the term pew means

and yep... altrusim is the only thing that one day will keep this world on turning... currently there is way too less of it...

pews are the benches you sit on in church Vik. The ones here are bolted down into the concrete floor so they don't get knocked over. The biggest problem was the bolts were too long when they were first installed. each of the pew legs has a hole cut in it for the bolt to stick up through it, then a washer then a nut holding it down. to remove the pew was a bear because you had to loosen the screw as far as possible, then put a him under the leg to lift it high enough to get the nut off because the screw was too long. The pews are roughly 18' long (6meters) and are solid oak, so they are heavy. After we removed the pews then there was a minefield of the screws sticking up out of the concrete that even remembering that they are there we all were tripping on them. One of the other guys brought his compressor and grinder to shorten the bolts, which made reinstalling the pews easier, but a few were too long still last night, so made the evening difficult. The biggest problem is the hole for where the bolt goes in is so tiny that most adult fingers cannot manipulate the nuts onto the bolts. Luckily my three little minions came last night and were able to get the nuts on most of them, and us adults could go and tighten them down after them. Thank God for little hands.

Yep, sometimes kids are really useful I had to rely on these lil nuggets quite often too...adults backs are often too stiff, fingers too thick and arms too...and besides anatomical advantages...kids have the urge to be of use/ help to their parents...outside...of course getting the damn garbage out to the can is a whole other matter...

@dave, it was closed...as good as I could be with the self drying GW pots, maybe you aren't aware of that issue
@vik, my kids take the trash out, it's getting them to brush their teeth and flush the toilet where I have the issues.

While Dave's awake I might point out something I saw on fringe. The episode where the son of the farmer is burrowing through the ground because he's part scorpion, the farmhouse they use looks suspiciously like the farmhouse from the walking dead. It might just be coincidence, but I think they were filmed on the same set/ lot.

Do you know the episode name/season? I'll have to re-watch it.
It's probably a dried lump of paint in the pot lid, clear that and it should close better.

At some point, they moved a lot of the Boston/NY filming to Canadian locations with similar buildings (to save money), TWD is all filmed in Georgia, but it could be.

and mate... I totally feel your pain here... flushing the toilet seems an illogical obstacle for kids...? it totally makes me wonder why ...or washing hands... I am furious every time... thank the heavens I have currently no problems with high blood pressure

Ahh..>Filmed in Vancouver. The Farmhouse is most likely to be similar anywhere that was near a Railroad track, since you could order kits from the Sears Roebuck catalog and they were often shipped by railroad in the 1800s. Vancouver is very similar to anytown USA.

Am I the only one that finds it amusing that you described the screws that hold down the pews in church as "ungodly".
Surely they are some of the most holy screws around for miles...

@dr. H, what's Holey now are my tennis shoes, I don't shuffle my feet like the people tripping on these things, I stepped down on them full force....twice. Once in my arch that hurt, and once the screw came up between my big toe and the index toe, right through my sock too. They must not be Holy, since they pierced my sole (but not soul) . I called them ungodly for a reason.
@dave, every film studio goes to Canada, I think it's appropriate as the x-files were filmed n Vancouver also.

A further thought on the helmet colour thing. How about, with the red helmet, instead of red lenses you could do purple lenses. Because; Special.

I've got a plethora of helmets around, guess I could give the variations a try. Just probably not happening today, got to work on school.

Maybe I can sell my shoes on ebay then, they were worn out and I'm going to buy a new pair before heading to NY.

and I wondered too about the so called ungodly screws...(taming of the screw anyone???) but since you explained it so well...I totally see your point...damned be thee screws! ...you got lucky tho that your feet got not really hurt by that old metal... bloodpoisoning and so on could have been the case... and since your kids had been jumping all around it is a living proof that someone above must´ve been keepen at least one eye out for the lot of you to protect them from serious harm!...stands to reason

also... I think yon termy knows where his missing arm is... see him pointing...I think he wants that scythe of his fellow marine... greedy marines...tstststs...

You know when you see or hear something that really isn't that funny but it makes you laugh redicolously. Watching fringe they were discussing the Walter from the alternate universe, and Walter called him the "walternate"... I busted a gut or ten minutes. I had to rewind Netflix to go back because I could remember anything else. I laughed so hard it hurt . Looking back it wasn't so funny, but just hit at the perfect moment.

@vik, funny how you chose the tyranids to eat my thread. That's how the scythes were obliterated after all.

On another front, I got an email to schedule a phone interview for a position at the local hospital . I might have to change my screen name to Dr. T or something .
