I just got my first Ven. Dread and I am more than displeased with it. There isn't a single piece that actually lines up with another. There are HUGE gaps over most every join. I have spent 2 hours on it so far just removing the mold lines and flash. The front plate is at least 1 or 2 mm shorter than the back plate. The only thing that is assembled so far are the feet to the base.

So angry modeling rant aside. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I am calling GW today and I want to know going in if I want to request a replacement or a credit on my account. I honestly don't want another one if it is just going to have the same problems. Thanks for the help in advance.

The Orks are the pinnacle of creation. For them, the great struggle is won. They have evolved a society which knows no stress or angst. Who are we to judge them? We Eldar who have failed, or the Humans, on the road to ruin in their turn? And why? Because we sought answers to questions that an Ork wouldn't even bother to ask! We see a culture that is strong and despise it as crude.

I've had serious problems with the Talos and a Krootox. My Venerable Dread seems to have gone together without much fuss. No idea why stuff like this happens.

Your either way over critical (more then likely not this one lol)
Or you got a defect. This however, happens ALOT more then youd think. When I first started 40k seriously, I was 16 and I literally never ran into any problems other then mold lines. I took a break for a good 4 years or so. Still not much problems but within the last year, year and a half, Ive had to call GW a bunch of times.
I think they are starting to pump these out as fast as the machines will go and its making for some really crappy moldings. My worst yet was an ENTIRE sprue of shoota boy parts was wasted. Im not kidding, the guns were melted, the ones that werent, the elbows and hands were melted. Hell even half of the bases were melted. But still lately, it seems that every 2 or 3 boxes I have to call them on a replacement.

Does it get shipped from the UK to the USA because I've never had a problem. Maybe it gets melted during flight. If I does get produced near you then I don't know what's wrong.

my ven dread went together without much difficulty... a few of the pieces didn't exactly line up, but some filing / green stuff took care of it.

I keep seeing metal models where the bar to insert them into a Slottabase is way too thick (my brother got some Howling Banshees where the bars were a good 2mm too thick for the base). I had to end up filing the slottabases down to make bigger holes for them. The same happened with all of the Hormagaunts I got in a Battleforce, and again when my brother recently got some Dark Reapers.

I never had to do any of this when I started collecting in '98, but lately it seems I have a lot more preparation work to do on everything I buy, before I can actually start building it. I can't speak for everyone though, and I've never had a Venerable Dreadnought, so I can't comment on that particular kit.

Yeah,
You have a standard GW large metal model there.
you can ask for a replacement but I don't think it'll be much better than what you already have.

I've put together 9KillaKans and 2 DeffDreads in the last month, none of the models fitted together every Kan and Dred required some fileing/Dremmeling and GreenStuff.. One or Two of the Kans body halves were worse than the others (warped) and required major work to get things to line up.

It's part of the hobby.

The results are always worth it.. a nice large heavy metal model is a thing of beauty!

Panic...
