First off my preferred miniatures size is 15 milimeter for several reasons. It allows for a larger range of well ranges tactical movement as well as miniatures to be placed. In my view epic was really to small a size. You can have 15mm till have amazing detail just look at flames of war.

Anyway would you support a GW 15mm range of figures?

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

Hmmm, for me 'support' means spending 10,000.00 to bring in a new product range. Before the customer can even buy the product, retailers have to have the confidence to bring it in, and pay out the cost involved.

If the rules set offered something different from regular 40k, the way the old Adeptus/SpaceMarine/Epic did, I wouldn't mind seeing it. Similarly, give me a fantasy game that lets me do something I can't do in WFB. Then I'd get behind it. Otherwise, I'll just play Apocalypse, since I already have a ton of models for that scale.

Rules set first, then design the figure line. In plastic, thank you.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

I'm not a big fan of smaller scales than 25mm. I really like the individual model aspect and the amount of conversion work and detailing I can do on each model. I would definitely try out a 15mm scale 40k game, but I don't know how different they could really make it without reverting to Epic.

If the rules were something like epic but based on the 40k codexes instead of the dated epic army lists and with lots of variety, all the weapon options and some wargear options, upgrades, etc. AND all the epic stuff from superheavy tanks to imperator titans. I would personally be all over it.

Yes. 15mm just feels right.

And I haven't even played a game in 15mm just kibbitzed and I like the scale immensely.

I'm also not much of a converter, so this scale would rock.

Didn't GW already do a 15mm scale system that died after being unsupported (Warmaster).

Why would I trust them to do another?

Besides, with advancing age and failing eyesight, I gave up 15-20mm back in the 80s (when I WAS playing WW2 AND modern (Gulf War one was on at the time for this one) in HO scale.

I fully intend to pick up warmaster once I'm done getting through some historicals in this scale.

Somewhere in south-central England.

Warmaster Historical is still going. In fact they have just released a big rules FAW update for it. I haven't heard anything about Warmaster Fantasy recently.

It's based on 10mm figures however it uses standard WRG base sizes so it will work just as well with 2mm, 6mm, 15mm or 25mm. The choice of 15mm on the market is much greater than 10mm so it will be easier to find opponents.

WH40K would be easy to fight in 15mm scale just by converting all ranges from inches to centimetres.

Actually, in my opinion all that you need to do is switch the current miniatures for 15mm scale. Then the weapon ranges and blast templates wouldn't be so absurd. And halve unit coherency distances. It would require building all new terrain, and some movement trays for horde units, but then you'd have a game with a much more dramatic feel.

Personally, it would depend entirely on the game.

A largely-infantry-based game, I would be unlikely to be interested, as I have yet to see 15mm infantry at a standard that I would be particularly excited about painting.

A vehicle-based game... that would be a definite possibility, although for that Epic's 6mm scale still works just fine anyway.

Not fussed for scale meself. As long as it has a decent amount of detail, and works well with basic painting techniques, I'd be happy.

Hi all.
As long as the scale is appropriate to the rule set/game size I am happy.
(I use 6mm, all the way up to 54mm minatures.)

If the horisontal and vertical scale become too diferent it can spoil the asthetic IMO.

40k's precurser was Laserburn written by Brian Ansell to support his 15mm sci-fi range when he was (IIRC) trading as Asgard Miniatures (or it may have been early days at Citadel before he bought out GW, whatever, we are talking early 1980's here...).

You can still get the ruleset at http://www.15mm.co.uk as well as many chipper 15mm sci-fi models.

You can also get Stargrunt from http://www.groundzerogames.net. The rules are free and they sell 15mm sci-fi models too.

Of course these are more traditional Sci-fi than 40k is, and they aren't 40k races etc., but they may scratch your itch.

Never played 15mm sci-fi myself, but I'm a fan of 1:72 for WWII: its hard to argue with tanks for £5 or less each!

I'd still like to see a sub-division of GW, ala Warhammer Historical doing rules for Victorian Horror, Weird War etc.

Got a set of rules for Victorian Horror called Ripper Wars, and finally managed to source (then forget the source of) models for it. SEems rather good fun. Just need to convince the lads to give it a whirl, which requires 3 or 4 players to my mind.

Well honestly EPIC was really what i was looking at Squads of Dreadnoughts ; Titans etc..

Epic was great to a degree but some times over complicated. Infantry units would still matter and change the course of the game but it would also allow for more unit choices.

15m is in my opinion the perfect size there are also what you would cal "heroic" 15mm which is also really great.

Terrain would also be better.

15 mm on a 6x4 gives you a larger playing area as well with more points or scale it down for very small battles on a 4x4 which is perfect for the living room.

Would I support a GW 15mm range of figures? Not if they priced it like Epic! Besides 40k Already has a 15mm version.

For those of us for whom the models are the most important aspect of the hobby the reduction in detail from 28mm to 15mm entails a huge loss of detail and surface area with which to work. No, I would have absolutely no interest in a 15mm Warhammer game. I never got into Epic or Warmaster for the exact same reason.

I would not buy 15mm stuff.

I have 28mm for when I want gorgeous, detailed figures and easy conversions.

I have 6mm figures for when I want to fight appropriately large engagements.

15mm just seems like a half-a$$ed compromise to me. You can fight big battles, but not big enough. You have bigger figures...but not big enough.

If I didn't already have 40k, Epic, and Ogre, I would gladly play a non-GW 15mm Sci-Fi game.

I think that FoW picked a great scale to popularlize for their game, and I hope that more companies do the same.

FOW is pretty darned good. I highly recommend it. Never really got into Epic 40k- for some reason it didn't hold my interest.

no thanks. no. not under any circumstances. We already know that GW won't support it in 6 months.

That also goes for games that aren't 40K and WFB. No thanks. Not again. Not under any circumstances. No one will play them here and there's no place to play them really as all of the LGS with an hour drive have failed.

I'll drive 10 minutes to the GW at Westminster Mall. Any farther? no thanks.

No. The overwhelming majority of my minis are 28mm... why would I want more incompatible models? My 6mm BTech collection is enough thanks.

If GW did some nice 15mm SF miniatures I would get some to add to my already existing collection. I wouldn't buy Space Marines, they are too specific looking. Tau would be nice for a generic alien army.

I personally think 40K would be improved by playing it on a larger table with longer ranges and in general a reconsideration of the relationships between ranges and speeds. That would be made easier by using 15mm models. I doubt GW will ever go for the idea though because they will also need huge inflation of army sizes to compensate for the lower purcahse price of 15mm figures.

Worth noting there plenty of 15mm SF figures already available, and a fair selection of fantasy, and absolutely heaps of Ancients and Mediaevals.

There are its just frustrating ot find stuff to match up with 40k as many of the figures are so iconic looking.

Now 15mm Fantasy is something I would definitely get involved with Ive seen 15mm Warhammer Fantasy Played and it is FAR Superior.

Its leagues ahead because of being able to wheel etc... There are more tactical options it seems.

I would really like a 15mm WHFB rules set. I think 25mm is a tad large for really doing justice to a battle involving 100+ individuals.
40k might also be good in that scale, but the shortage of conversions and the difficulties in sussing out various upgrades at a glance would be an issue I think.

Agree with this approach. That's what I'm doing right now with Khurasan and Rebel Minis miniatures. Using 15mm stuff but with current 40k rules.

I would go for it. I've seen several space trooper guys that resemble IG, and they look good, and the Spugs are "good enough" Tau models.
