This thread is awesome! I have enough csm bitz, along with bitz to make a beastmarine (ask if you're interested), and I am trying to make a squad of classic marines: any chapter, but if it's chaos, can it be pre-heresy? So, do you want to have a beastmarine (credit goes to horrain on b&c for the tutorial I use to make these).

Got a couple of really stunning GMS marines as of late, so I thought I'd show them off.

First, a librarian from Njal the Weatherman. Njal really pushed himself on this model, creatively, build-wise and with his painting. Will be proud to field him with my Mantis Warriors. I love the servo skulls flying around. I'll be adding the text on the scrolls and such myself.



Secondly, a Red Scorpion Sergeant made by endtransmission. Stunning figure and his effects with this guys hair I'm going to so steal.... (unfortunately you can't really see it in the pic).



I'm really lucky to have these two fine pieces of work, and look forward to fielding them quite soon!

So, I actually decided that I am making a squad of flesh eater space marines for the classic space marines (preferably rt, but will take anything that looks classic enough).

I mostly paint Ultramarines. They are Spartan themed.
I can paint other chapters, my favourite being Imperial Fists.
I also paint Evil Sunz Orks.
And I'm quite good at creating objective markers.

@BBL: cheers mate. Lovin your work also if I wasn't so chronically useless I'd suggest a swap?! I have actually an angel already built and ready to go (though you may need to wait until June 2014... ) IIRC it's a sergeant with pf and combi-bolter off the promo fw boarding marine.

The statue paint job is prime grey, heavy sepia wash, then white drybrush WITHOUT cleaning the sepia from the brush; then alternate drybrush white and sepia washes, progressively thinned about 3 extra layers of each, and a final white highlight.

Looks great BBL. Your dread and chappy will be in the mail this afternoon. No pics because Im worthless and havent got my camera fixed yet.

No worries Whale, Ill post pics when I get them. After I clean up the mold lines and highlight the mm, I'll ship them and the plasma cannon guy

Whale, I need to ask your permission, but would you mind if I paint the 'softpoints' on the chappy silver? Leaving them black is my biggest painting pet peeve, but other than that both models are stunning!

Lol, no go head. I was going to, as I know you like to, but forgot. Glad you like em, I thought they came out good. My painting has come a ways from the last model you got.

I still think its a ton better than my beginning models

Look good to me! I like the idea of the attack bike missing one ork, and chucking the grenade behind him. Hope the Dread is far enough away from an AoBR one to make people wonder.

Progress on Gathering Storm's "vanguard" chaplain. Got the body roughed out... will add the special mantis wings, pads once I figure out how to get a proper skull pad... suppose I could find a skull & cut the face off and attach. Don't trust my GSfu... I'm still very amateur in my skills. Hoping it'll look properly nice when done. Since I need to make my own chappy, this is a good dry run too.

Gits...does the pad have to be a whole skull or would a fancy pad with a skull on it do? The Blood Angel sprues have some such pads...

Pad with a skull would work fine. I'll have to see if I can snag some of those, thanks DSS!

I have a Marine (bolt pistol and chainsword) ready for painting and would like to try a swap. Provisionally I'd like to do a Lamenter but I'm open to anything unusual that hasn't received a codex release.

Would love to Howard, but I'm already several swaps behind & I can't in good conscience take on another one until I fulfill my existing obligations. Later perhaps?
