Bad .... make battle wagons.

I can't think of a single nice thing to say about them ... even with a boom gun they just plain suck

Tri got it clearly. I once tried to use it with a boomgun, guess what happened?

So yeah, it didn't do anything in the game.

I never had too much trouble with Don't Touch Dat. What I did have trouble with was the fact that they have a short range battle cannon and 11 front armor. It was often the very first target, because noone likes S8 AP3 pie plates dropping on them, and its armor isn't strong enough to survive long. I would celebrate if it managed to survive the first turn.

The graet thing with orks is that their vehicles have no template, so you can pretty much convert anything into an ork vehicle. I have a pair of leman russ demolishers w/plasma cannon side sponsons that I used in 4th edition as looted wagons, but now they are an "open topped" battle wagon, with no killkannon, doesn't really fit, but tournaments don't seem to mind if you give them some heads up.

I think the looted wagon isnt too bad with a boomgun, as long as its in range of the kff at the end of the first turn.

Afterall id rather they shoot my looted wagon than my 2 battlewagons and 3 trukks going up the field under kff .. >.>

With the looted wagon you have a gun that costs twice the points of the vehicle it's on.

They are fun to play with if your playing a FUN game. But I wouldnt take one if the battle meant anything (Ie a tourny or something) But if you get one in the right spot, and roll the right sides of some dice, they can be surprising

I've not had any major issues with mines, I put some skorchas on it and let it loose, it's so low target it does what it wants. It's cheap and can pick up boys who are in trouble. Plus you can make one out of anything.

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

I would be more inclined to play with them if they didn't take up a heavy support choice; there are simply way better options for anything you might want to do.

Make them out of whatever you want, but treat them as Big Trakks instead of Looted Wagons. That way you get (a) way better stats, so they're viable, and (b) 3 of them as a single Heavy Support choice.

Looted Wagons fall onto the fun side of the codex. If I am feeling squirly I will run a skorcha-wagon full of burna boyz. I also ran a rokkit-wagon full of tankbustas. They were both amusing but not effective against most opponents.

are the rules for big tracks in imperial armour? i like the sound of that idea.
also a looted wagon would be massively cheaper with a scorcher insted...thats an idea

www.forgeworld.co.uk/pdf/bigtrakk.pdf ... big trakks are what looted waggons dream of being. Hell it even gives a battle wagon a run for its money. Just remember it is IA and not every one will be willing to play against it.

Back to Looted Wagons with Skorcha ...why? take them on the buggies about the same price, you can take them in groups and best of all they're fast vehicles so you can move 12" (edit 13" with red paint) and fire. Which is why i don't like Looted wagons ... any thing they can do can be done better by some one else.

The big trakk looks cool, but what purpose does it have, to me it seems like a armoured warbuggie. Not that many guns either.

Since the PDF is freely available (as I've posted above). I'll show you the key rules that make it good.

Ork Big Trakk
Points: 50 points A squadron of 1-3 Big Trakks may be chosen as a single Heavy Support Choice for an Ork Army.
Type: Vehicle (Tank, Open Topped)
===========Armour
======BS Front Side Rear
Big Trakk 2 =12 ==11= 10

So they far your right they do look like armoured buggies. So do they come with any thing that makes them better?

• The Big Trakk may also have one of the following; Reinforced Ram, Deff Rolla, Wrekin’ Ball or Grabbin’ Klaw for +10 points
sorry what a 10pts Deff rolla on a vehicle that is part of a squadron ... Right thats just broken (3 deffrollas 3D6 Strength 10 hits 4D6 is some one stupid enough to DOG one of them)

How about guns?
• The Big Trakk may upgrade its twin-linked Big Shootas to twin-linked Rokkit Launchas for +10 points or twin-linked Scorchas for +15 points
• Up to two additional Big Shootas for +5 points each

Big Gunz: The Big Trakk may also be adapted to carry a single Big Gun from the following list, but if it does so its transport capacity is reduced to 6 models.
• Kannon +10 points
• Lobba +10 points
• Zzap Gun +15 points

thats a let down anything better?
• Supa-Skorcha +20 points
• Big Lobba for +35 points
• Flakk Gun for +50 points
• Killkannon +60 points
• Big-Zappa +65 points

Now your talking but you know i want bigger can you give it to me?
Alternately the Big Trakk may be fitted with a Supa-Kannon for +80 points, but if it does so it looses its transport capacity entirely!
Oh that's what I'm talking about ... what you don't know what some of those things do?
Weapon ===Range ==STR==AP =Special
Big-Lobba ===12-48”== 6 ==4 Ordnance 1, 5” Blast, Barrage
Big-Zzappa ==36” ====2d6* 2 Heavy D3
Supa-Scorcha Template =6 ==4 Assault 1
Flakk-Gunz=== 48”====7 ==4 Assault 4, AA Mount
Supa-Kannon= 36-120”==9==3 Ordnance 1, 5” Blast, Barrage
*Roll 2d6 for the Strength of each shot fired, if a result of ‘11-12’ is rolled that shot is lost.

Still think its like a buggy?

Adding my opinion here that Looted Wagons have as much utility as a blind gretchin single-handedly piloting a Tau manta that has no guns.

If he really believed it would work, it would work.

www.forgeworld.co.uk/pdf/bigtrakk.pdf looks pretty nice though, I'd field a few if anyone around here ever played IA.
