Hello all,
Played a game against a SM player with my orks the other day and tried out something new. Put 5 nobz in a trukk (2PK, 3 big choppas), kept in cover out of LoS the first turn, turn 2 I ran the trukk at max speed, dumped out the nobz, who charged into his land raider, popping it (on turn 2! ). Then they took out a couple of assault termies (big choppas hitting before hammers is great!) and effectively tied them up 12" from the table edge for the rest of the game. In the end, nobz got wiped out but easily made back double their points (land raider and 4 assault termies). Now I'm thinking of getting another truck and putting an identical unit like this on each flank, terrain/cover permitting. Anybody tried this/thoughts? I know you've always got to be cautious of what works in just 1 game, but it seems like a good solution to popping AV14/hard stuff as long as you can stay out of LoS the first turn...

You're wandering into army list questions, which probably belongs over in the army list building section. =p

It sounds like you're beginning to contemplate a mechanized list, and honestly...if you're going to run trukks, you need to go all the way mechanized. Here's a couple of threads worth reading about mechanized orks.

And if you're running into thematic issues due to mixing trukk nobs and other units....here's something to read about thematic styled ork armies.

It sounds like you want to use your nobs as 200 point missiles to knock out land raiders. This isn't a good idea (not that it's a bad idea....just not good)

Nobs are too expensive to throw away, as well, if you zoom up that fast and put yourself out of KFF range that trukk they are riding in is going to die, and you don't know where it will go when it dies.

Trukk heaven, of course. (You may now return to constructive discussion.)

Actually, Ork technology is much like necron technology. The orks aren't willing to believe that the trukk was asploded, and they will it back into a trukk.
