If one were to start a side game and spend no more than $100 USD total (vs MSRP), what would you get?
The $100 USD has to cover (at full MSRP):
- rulebook
- minis for two players
- any required accessories (e.g. counters)
At this price point, we're talking about a very small skirmish / starter battle, but what would you get?

I really liked Mordhiem, and IIRC the starter box cost about $60 and had everything you needed to start playing.
Of course that was many moons ago and honestly I don't even know if it's still available.

Even between GW and the competition...I can't really think of anything off the top of my head that fits the bill.
Maybe AT-43: Operation Damocles.
Or something like Incursion, but really...not much comes to mind.

BFG but don't you already play that?
Firestorm Armada makes your cut if you're only buying your own fleet. Their starter fleets run abut 60USD each and rules are about 25. Now if you have to buy two starter fleets, that's out of your range. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and Arcane Legions or D&D minis, of course, if you're REALLY desperate.

Infinity. Rulebook might be 30$, but anyway the rules section of the book is downloadable from the website in a pdf file. Thats 0$ in rules.
3 bucks for some D20 dice if you don't have.
About 30$ each starter = 60$
And the other 37$... maybe some blisters to make the armies a little bigger. Or buy material for scenery.

As no one else has mentioned it . . . if you can find it at your FLGS or ebay, a copy of the CBT Introductory Box Set and Total Warfare in hard cover runs to ~$75. If you cannot find the intro box, or dislike the plastic starter 'Mechs, $100 can still get you Total Warfare and enough metal minis to get both players started.

You can get Incursion for $50, and spend the other $50 on 4 blister packs of Nazi zombies, US power armor, or what have you. They have a deal right now where you can get the rules and all the models for $165, but that's a bit over the spending limit of this thread I'm afraid.

DING DING DING!
Plus, you don't even have to buy Total Warfare if you don't want to. Plenty of fun to be had with Quick-Start rules only. 24 'Mechs (albeit low quality), rules, and a pretty sizable universe info book for $40. Hard to beat that.

Unsurprisingly, a good Halo Actionclix game requires only 5-8 packs, and no need for Rulebooks! Sad thing is, however, that they are random, but I find the game to be fast and fun.

Last I remember there was a big hublah over this incredibly powerful mini but other than that, the game was incredibly well balanced and thought out with a very nice ruleset that didn't really have any ambiguities.
I haven't played in forever though, but when I did it was a lot of fun. I recommend playing a game or two!
:edit: HaloClix was actually pretty fun too, and now I bet that it is super cheap.

@malfred: Already suggested it. To follow up, it's getting somewhat easier to pick what you want with the revealed big monster packs they're doing nowadays. Still, ugly minis.

Hmm... Interesting range of suggestions.
I have Mordheim & BFG, and think both of those are excellent. OTOH, DnD minis, Star Wars minis, and Clix-related stuff has no interest for me. I've looked at AT-43, but it didn't quite catch my fancy.
So far, I like Infinity and Malifaux as small games with nice minis. For not a lot of cash, either of these could good little side games to play. They remind me of Warmachine way back when it was first released many, many moons ago.
If it were your $100, what would you guys be buying?

Fleshing out my Sisters army maybe although I'm kind of at an impasse for direction there. I'm also tempted by that new Tyranids battleforce but that would just be giving into the delirium that accompanies new codex fever. I'd probably spend $35 of it on the Radical's Handbook for DH (via Amazon) and save the rest to buy more presents for the family. Edit: I certainly would not buy any of that Inifinity or Malifaux stuff.
