Happy 2012 everyone. We've had a bit of a rough start, Mrs Monkeyh had to pay £300 to get her car fixed after the electric window packed up, a huge tree blew down in the garden narrowly missing the house (plenty of fire wood now though) so now I've got to chop that up, and there's "trouble at 'mill" with things not going too well at work (pay cuts/job losses on the cards). But looking on the bright side, here's the next samurai. I've tried to make the banner look a bit fleshy like it's made from skin, but I've now got it into my head that this guy looks like he's about to use his sword to bat that marine helmet back into the enemy ranks!

Haha! That pose is great. Also, I really like how the banner is both a face and a Khorne icon this time.

Here's my latest effort. Picture's a bit rubbish as I had no natural light (well that's my excuse). This one reminds me a bit of Judge Dredd - I think it's the face. The banner is a bit basic, but I wanted variety - it is after all the spice of life!

Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

Yet again another awesome and bloodthirsty marine
I really like the simplicity of the banner... it really is good

Thanks Slugga and Miss Dee. As always, progress is slow. But I'm determined to get these done as I've lots of other tasty projects I want to get started with.

I must say, monkeyh - your models here have seriously given me some inspiration. I want to convert berzerkers now. Preferably with possessed parts.

Cheers everyone!

@Saintspirit - I have to say the possessed bits are great and are more like what I would expect a regular chaos marine to be like.

@Selvaggio' - 'Fraid I cheated on the banner - it's a transfer from the old chaos space marine transfer sheet! May use a few more as I'm feeling lazy and just want to get the last five done and dusted so I can move onto new things.

@Gits' - I'm pleased with how they're turning out - those samurai bits work really well.

These swords are from perry miniatures:

http://www.perry-miniatures.com/product_info.php?cPath=23_38&products_id=2325

Looked high and low for samurai swords - not many places seem to do them, but this lot specialise in old Napoleonic, American civil war, English civil war miniatures etc. They're £6.50 for 30 metal ones. But if you need some I've got some spare I can send you if you pm me an address (being as I owe you some bits for those chain blades you sent me).

And a bargain compared to what some companies where asking for a single sword.

No kidding. They are very reasonable sized too. In the world of stupid-large 40k weapons, there is something very elegant and somewhat menacing about a normally sized blade.

I can see you have really improved in making OSL
you should consider maybe updating more models at a time

Cheers slugga', I've got another one in this unit with a plasma pistol so we'll see how he turns out. After slow progress of about (ok - maybe less than) one mini a week - I'm boldly attempting to complete the last five by this time next week! My prefered method of doing one at a time is proving far too slow. I've got the next five based, shaded and the gold highlighted and hopefully I should get some time at the weekend to finish them off. Then I'm going to lay off the painting for a while, whilst I concentrate on building some of my huge backlog of stuff so I can at least use it in battle even if I have to endure things being naked!

Loving the samurai theme you've got going here monkeyh, first time i've seen your thread but your mental chain weapons and the size of the brass scorpion are almost swaying me from the imperium and my ad mech....damn it! oh and gz on the 500th post.

I need to do alot of OSL myself pretty soon, and I can't wait for it!
I love doing plasma glow and other things like that. Deathwatch ain't that easy to paint, so it might be a longer while though

Congrats on your 500th post!!!

@ J-paint - Thanks - come over to the dark side!

@ Slugga' - Wait 'til I do the plasma blast gun on Fluffy my warhound - there'll be OSL aplenty then!

@ Gits' - You're too kind sir! Your mantis warrior thread is quality.

@ Hindenburg & whigwam - Yeah - but last time my oppo didn't leave much left for me to take many fearless wounds!

You have anyone to use as Khârn yet (if you are going to include him, but why should you not?)? if you want him to look samurai-ish, I suggest you use this one:

because that is one evil sword.

Also, do me a favour and type it "berzerkers"

Seppuku would certainly sit well with followers of the blood god though. After all it doesn't matter from where the blood flows. Suits their modus operandi!
