@nathanie1 hey o I don't have o much of a challenge back to you but a request. I looked back. Your thread and saw some delicious looking slaanesh guys you posted two years ago and was wondering if you have any updates on them. I don't want to sidetrack you, just wanted to see any progress.

Christ page 10, this is all happening so fast.
@ Theophony - ha I wasn't expecting you to have a challenge ready on the spot, rather look at it as I owe you a days kit bashing! I like these challenges and projects, PDH, Neil101 etc had their pilgrimage campaign....... we have crotch zombie.
As far as the slaanesh command goes I'm not sure what will happen with them, they no longer fit what I want to do with the army which is a men of the north marauders kind of theme ( not many mutations, few signs of marks etc ) so they now sit forgotten about in a box. The standard bearer may still be used and I will never consign the giant to the scrap heap as I love him but I am no longer a big fan of the chaos lord really.
I am very much a WFB man by heart. I haven't played 40k since second ed (I think I was 11?) and have no army for it although I used to be Eldar and with the upcoming release who knows.
On the WFB front I have started collecting almost every army there is at some point. Recently I decided to seriously scale down my hobby, I will never paint a 4000pt army, I know this and am fine with it, so I am thinking I will just have a few 1500max forces, easy to store and are achievable projects. The armies will be VC, Chaos and possibly O&G as these are three forces I have always had some element of in my collection.
However this thread has become pretty necromunda heavy so I think it may be best to keep it that way and start a separate thread for my WFB stuff so that I don't bore anyone who has no interest in fantasy.

Received my first piece of commissioned painting/ converting today. Its a very strange feeling to have someone willing to pay me some money to do this. I guess this means I will take offers so with no idea on how to advertise this fact other than here this is me saying "will convert/paint for cash, PM me for good times"...... I feel dirty

I think there's a stickied tab in the painting log for commission painters, might want to post there. I've also seen people post in the trade section with (h) painting service (w) you monies.
And congrats.

One of the disadvantages of not playing 40k is that I am unaware of some of the product range. I found the death korps riders tonight on forgeworld and fell in love. I really want to make a mounted bounty hunter on one of those steeds! I knocked out a quick sketch for posing on one of the miniatures and have put in some bids on some parts. Now I have to play the waiting game....
I can't explain why the horse is fat, all I know is that making it thin makes it look wrong.

@Dave - thats whats wrong! Oh well, the model wont have the same issues.
I can't look at scavvy's at the moment, lost my mojo a little bit. My next project was going to be genestealer hybrids, I seem to remember there being some stats for them in the back of outlanders but does anyone know where I can find any good gang rules for them? Something vaguely official or accepted by the community out there?

I wrote some genestealer cult rules myself because Terror in the Hive is far too powerful and quite rubbish. Anthony Case also did some but didn't finish them.
There are no official rules and none that are really accepted by the community. But my rules are not overpowered which is the main problem, they should be fine to play against for house gangs:

well timeouts are always needed once in a while... no shame in starting something new... creative minds really have a hard time to focus on something for too long...well i am speaking about me mostly here...my "shelf of shame" is the bigger one than my shelf for finished projects...i need to switch my projects quite often as my mind wanders off to other places way too often when a project gets too boring and not really creative anymore...but maybe you feel the same...

@ Bruticus thanks for the rules info, interesting stuff
To get over my recent modelling funk I was back at home and dug out a treasure trove of old white dwarfs. Our collection goes back to issue 71, I think I was about 4 at the time so definitely my brothers purchases but I can remember them really clearly.
It's strange, with the death of Ray Harryhausen this week I have been chatting with folks about how certain images can shape so much of your life. It was the stop animation skeleton warriors that fascinated myself and my brother and led him to potter in to a games workshop store in Hampstead after seeing the classic marauder models in the shops display cabinet. In much the same way I stared and stared at so much of the art work in these white dwarfs from the age of 4 to about 11 that when I look at them now I get that strange nostalgic twang.
Going through the back issues today made me realise a couple of things, one that it is a trove of inspiration and information, a veritable archeotech horde of games workshop goodness. Secondly that the hobby now really has so little in common to those times. I know it was a time of rapid expansion but every issue is packed with new game systems, missions, free board sections, short stories and scenery blue prints. With the extinction of specialist games this month it is a sad finale to this side of the company.
Anyway I hope some of these images strike a chord with you guys and inspire you the way they continue to inspire me.....

Thanks for sharing these brought back some great memories, I remember being a kid getting into RPG going to the toy shops going through the blisters with so much excitement (yes we had toy shops then, shops that sold toys )
You kind of forget how much detail and imagination went into the art work in those days, they hold their wait even today I wish they produced models to this standard.
I think I will have to go round my mates house and nick all his old WD issues

ray harryhausen´s death was a true disturbance in the force...
and yep... tho I haven´t had access to such cool materials when I was young... I too lament the loss of all that was cool about GW... it really is not the same anymore...but a man isn't dead until he's forgotten...

Dont worry his legacy will live on half of his creations were the reason I fell in love with miniatures and model making.
