I love this log! these guys look fantastic, and really are an inspiration! Nathanie1, What did you use for the tube on the back of the ganger in the last picture you posted? With your permission, I would like to use that Ganger design in my hopefully upcoming CSM/ Cultists project, and I can't tell which bit you used. is it just part of the Archer body, or is it seperate?

If I had a dollar for every dollar I spent I'd have all my money back.

@Viktor - Haha its this exact torso Viktor, I have it as spare if you want it. We can start a swap shop!

@Brotherralexos - thanks for the kind words, you and anyone else are welcome to take inspiration from anything i cobble together just as I do from other blogs, hell my entire Slaanesh work is a pastiche of xenite's AMAZING work. I am not definite on what bit of model you are asking about but if you are talking about the backpacks I am using for the Juves they are from an imperial guard sprue, I think they are originally water canteens? Anyone else help me out on this one? Cadian or Catachan?

finished up the basic on the last Juve and ripped one from earlier apart and reposed him, his bionic arm was too long and did not look quite right, it does mean he is currently only armed with a knife but hey, he's a Juve, he has to prove himself right?

The backs of both of them look very bare around the belt line but this should be fine once I have made their backpacks and attached pouches, scabbards, boozles and wotsits galore.

@ Viktor I dont mind man, up to you, all parts can find a purpose. You dont have to select something now. If you PM me your address I will pop it in the post.

@Rogue Wolves and Bruticus. Thanks for the comments dudes, It is important for Juves to look clueless, I enjoy running them across the highest walkways possible at the start of campaigns, only the strong survive.....

So I have not played 40K since I was 10, back then it was still second ed and as I was 10 i don't think it really counts as playing properly anyway.

I am now looking to get back in the game and have been mulling around a few armies. I have been looking at Dark Eldar, love the new miniatures and theme plus was massively impressed by these bad boys on Eye for Error

but I have also been massively tempted by Marines, well, I say Marines, mainly the contemptor dreadnought. It is the absolute balls and there are some amazing conversions using it online. My other big temptation is drop pods, I love the idea of playing a game with my army deep striking in using them and they represent a lot of stuff I love about sic-fi in general. So I was merrily thinking about all these things today on my way into work (the Science Museum) when I walk past this

I have walked past the Apollo 10 every week day for the past 4 years but it took all that time for me to realise, ITS A REAL F*****G DROP POD! It even has scorch marks and everything! This sealed the deal really and I will be ordering one to paint up on payday. I may still end up collecting another army but a contemptor with his own little drop pod hutch will be a nice addition to the collection.

Now this is some nice stuff, I really like your Juvies. You really nailed their poses and proportions. Wonderful!

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.
Check it out, you just might like it.

An interesting day what with the new models for the 40k box set breaking all over the place. many useful parts I think and I'm a big fan of the chaos marine sculpts. I did unfortunately completely shaft myself on ebay though which bought me back down to earth. Not being able to attend games day this year I have been fishing for the limited edition skinwolf online since its release in May. I have had no luck thus far, It seems to be a very popular model with the price normally finishing between 25 and 35 pounds, too rich for my blood. So I would like to know what suddenly changed last night as I seem to now own six of the bastards with out even trying.

Wow, 5 months since a post. It's been pretty hectic. In that time I have moved house and left my job, an upside meaning that I have time to turn my attention back to my long neglected hobby.

Having some days to myself has allowed me to do some painting (the area of the hobby I engage in least) and I've really enjoyed it so far. Let me know what you think.

I did not want to paint a scheme for a particular mark, these first test models have come out quite blue, I think I may aim for something more grey. I wanted to paint the champion a seperate colour to make him pop, hopefully he will still tie in when placed with the est of the unit.

I tried something completely new to me for my spawn. I primed him in white and then painted him using only washes (apart from a bit of chaos black) I was really pleased with the result, so much of the detail of the model is kept and his different undercoat really changes the finish.

I wanted the spines to look like they were erupting from the back, I got to play around with gore effects for the first time, I think it was the most enjoyable part of the paint work to this point.

All thoughts welcome and hopefully more to come soon.

So I managed to get a few games of necromunda in with a mate yesterday. We had a great time and every game had lots of classic moments, the best was a rescue mission where my one ganger withstood an absolute hail of fire to release the hostage and escape. Unfortunately the captive got shot three inches from safety and died! It is such a good system for creating those kind of events! So this morning I was feeling all mundery after being on a bit of a WFB jag and I got down to finishing some models off and making some new ones

I have been building this guy with the idea of using him as a Zealot but I think I may have overloaded him with equipment. Problem is is I like the result but he now looks less like what he was intended to be :/. Any thoughts? He could be a scavvy boss I guess?

At the end of the afternoon I just started playing around with bits and pieces and made this guy. I think he is a pretty cool scum. There are a few bits and bobs I would like to add including an eye patch.

Let me know what you think. Anyone in the London area who wants a game send me a PM

PS Victor I STILL have not sent you that torso you wanted I will get round to it I promise!

Today I started off by tidying up the scum I started last night. his cloak was not correct where I had cut into the posing of the wizard kit he is made from so I tried to fix it. Still a little way to go but it is better than it was

Staying on a hired gun theme I started to play around with the first of hopefully many pit slaves, still WIP, the arm looks odd in the photo but is fine in reality.

I have been playing around with using some dark eldar CC weapons on a few models, they suit the newer Redemptionist gang as they are quite delicate casts and anything chunky looks out of place on them. Here is a simple weapon swap but I think it works well

finally I did some more work on additions to my gas mask gang, two new gangers a juve and a second heavy.

I picked up some elysian legs on ebay and they are working better than I thought. When I started putting these guys together they looked a little small but as the build went they started to really fit in.

Hopefully get some more done tomorrow or maybe some painting. Any thoughts/ criticism would be welcome. Take it easy.

They say that the devil's in the details so thats what I spent this morning trying to add to my projects. One of my biggest problems at the moment is my green stuff ability. It is an are I struggle in and I really want to one day be able to properly sculpt. if I look back at the beginning of this blog to my GS work on the slaanesh chaos lord I can see that the finish is very rough and smoothness of finish is one of my main bug bears, that and modelling cloth. I spent a good deal of time this morning working on achieving both these things this morning and feel like I did take some forward steps although it is still not perfect.

I started off by adding yet more to the cloak of my scum

I could not work out what was bugging me about the model until this morning but the extra work separates his arm from the cloak and makes a lot more sense of that area.

Next up I did some more work on the big zealot? / scavvy? / Goliath? model. I did not trust the GS tube I made for the chain axe to hold so I replaced is with guitar wire. To really hold it in place I drilled a hole and filled it with superglue, but then heated the wire with a lighter so it melted the plastic further aiding the bond. I also modelled some straps for his child size back pack. the model is so big that he would look out of scale which is why I added the back pack, pistol and grenades to ground him in 28mm and make him look like a behemoth rather than a model that belonged in a different range

I was pleased with the result so also applied it to the respirator packs of my two completed juves.

I doubt I will get much done over the Easter weekend but hopefully there should be more updates soon. A friend of mine has just returned from Japan and is trying to set up a necromunda league at one of his friends houses so I should hopefully get some games in too!

I just caught up from your absence. Very cool to hear you played a game of Necromunda! Looks like a few people are coming back around on it. I just got back to it myself, and while I have played only 1 game so far it has dominated my modeling time.

I understand what you mean w/ GS and sculpting in general. I can 'see' what I want to do, I just can't make it happen. Chaos is a bit more forgiving so long as I'm not trying to do facial features or something something smooth. Rags, wounds, disease, hoods, etc I can do.

The Nurgle Champion will be a challenge to bring into Nercromunda but it's the paint that ties it in and I am very interested in seeing how this turns out for you. The rest of the models are looking really good as well, especially the gas mask heads.

Looking forward to seeing what comes next!
