The armour plates I think will match the aesthetics of the renegade and cadian parts, they have plenty of armour plates. I am just not sure about the ruffled parts because they don't really tie in with the other bits yet. I didn't realise you planned to greenstuff them - that could work, or even just the paintjob could tie it together. Ruffles could work brilliantly, it's just currently something I can't imagine, but I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with them.

The blade looks a little too wide IMHO, but thats easily fixed (yay Plastic) I'd say shave off apx 1/3 the "thickness" (roughly in line with the "raised area") and leave the handle alone.

@Galorn. I agree the blade is thick but I plan to paint it as a scabard (Mr Von Domm totally called it), so hopefully that will make sense, or did you meen thick as in its width from cutting edge to false edge?

@ Bruiticus, spent a while checking out your work last night and was blown away by a lot of it, especially your GS control. May have to start bothering you for advice as this process gets more complicated and BIG thank you for all the constructive criticism so far, it makes me re-evaluate decisions and keeps me going back and looking at the models and I am gaining lots from this.

if you go down the scabard line...add a few rivets... so that it looks fabricated some more!

I completly agree with vik here, rivets will definatly help to make it look more like scabard, and less like blade painted like scabard

either you guys help me with understanding how to model this....I understand the concept of rivets just not how to easily recreate them on the model

as for how... you could use either way to attach the rivets... drill them in glue rodpieces or add hole punched lil disks to the points...

Haha tahts great, thanks for the image, will ahve a play around when I get to the finishing process. Once all the models are put together fleshing out the boots and making pistol holders is my priority but details like the rivets are what really make a model.

ALt intead of raised rivets, you could also drill in grommets ala a kydex sheath.

so it is always dangerous to stare at a model for too long, last night the lasgun went and this happened..



please note, that is the back of the bowie knife sticking out on the right of the image and not a tiny withered arm.

I have wanted to use that bolter arm for an age, it has been stuck to about 6 different bodies and ripped off again but at 1am last night I thought of this combo and ended up hawling myself out of bed to see how it worked.

Does anyone have advice for the position of the left arm? I'm temped to get the same arm and bash it into a left handed version so he is holding two of the bastards

On a seperate note, my girlfriend was at comicon with work, she is in charge of toys and games for a well known long running science fiction series....neither of us are fans. Anyway, she bought back this awesome walking dead plush. Check it

as for the right arm...hmm... you could do a dual wielding version... two bolters...like so:



but then i would readjust the head to be looking straight forward...

also i if this fails would suggest a wide outstretched arm on the left... for balance... what he should then wield... probably nothing... but then again... grenade would be best...

I have been trying the catachan grenade arm, but its too bent, when you attach a bare arm on one side of the body you limit yourself to having to use the same style on the other side, much to my frustration

Great work on that Empire to FW conversion so far. Forgot to ask about them the first time- those metal head in the first pics, are those from Pig Iron Productions? I really like the one w/ the large canister on it.

I should have some more work up soon, I've taken a mate of mine under my wing, his sister died so he is staying with me for a couple of months. As such models have been pushed into boxes and cupboards but I will do work when ever I can. I have appreciated everyones input so far massively and dont want the thread to lose momentum.

There are rumours out there in the blogosphere that some of the new Eldar releases will have an owl theme. This excites me specifically as I am currently working my way through the new 52 batman arc where the great detective is taking on the Court of Owls.

This has been one of the best comic series that I have read in ages and is really inspireing. I would love to make an owl themed bounty hunter / assasin for munda but my green skills are nowhere near good enough for me to scratchsculpt. Hopefully these new bits will help

Batman comic fan eh? I am trying to think of a way to do those owl masks and I think it ought to be possible because essentially it's just a bag over the head which spreads out to the shoulders. A strap for goggles is pretty easy with greenstuff, but goggle lenses are hard as I found out on my techno just recently. I had better results using some bits. I think you could easily find some circular bits to use as lenses. The Dark Eldar range might have a suitable ninja suit to use, or maybe the imperial assassins although they are all quite skinny. The trickiest part would be the mask design, but you might be able to make this in thin plasticard and stick it to the hood. Certainly not easy, especially if you want to make it very accurate, but worth a shot.

It's a very cool idea overall. If you were willing to stray a bit from the source material I reckon there are loads of possibilities. All you really need are the owl goggles and you are good to go. You could give him claws like The Owl from Marvel for a comic book medley.

@ Bruticus - Cheers for the advice, many useful points and I think you are right, it may be easy enough to build from scratch. I have been slightly diverted due to having ideas about a bounty hunter you should see soon, if it works like I think it will I will be really stoked. Not a massive fan of comics, just read Batman graphic novels and Walking Dead. Cant have too many hobbies at the end of the day!

That's a great job. Even w/ the gas masks it's easy to spot the Juve vs. the Ganger. Great stuff all around for sure.
